Acronis Cyber Protect Pricing

Stuart Grigor - PeerSpot reviewer
Senior Manager Governance and Quality Assurance at Motus Car Rental

The current product was a perpetual license, so we don't currently pay anything for the license. But on a monthly basis, we're paying our partner about 50,000 ZAR.

The products that we are now considering will be approximately the same amount but of better performance.

The solution is far more expensive than we thought it would be because we've had to ensure we have a partner onboard to babysit us monthly.

In my opinion, the tool's pricing is reasonable. I had some discussions with other vendors who tried to match the price I was paying for it, but it became evident that the solution offered a more transparent and affordable pricing structure, especially with options for six months or a year.

When purchasing licenses for the product, they operate on a user-based licensing model. If you have six users, you purchase licenses accordingly. I find the pricing structure satisfactory, it is around $25 per year. I would rate it seven out of ten.

The pricing is excellent. It's one of the best-priced on the market. I'd rate the solution ten out of ten in terms of affordability.

Users do need to pay a licensing fee. There are no extra fees for the solution. That said, you can buy various subscriptions depending on what you need.

The pricing has increased, however, I believe it is still reasonable compared to other products. Acronis offers unique features that make it stand out from the competition. I see with Acronis, you will get what you paid for.

Acronis licensing module is very good and easy, you don't have to struggle choosing between licenses.

The setup is very simple, they avoid any setup complexity. One setup file will cover all your platforms.

The licensing is higher than the market, and the other products sold are slightly higher than the others. When people need stable environments, they can keep the data looking at all the assets. More customers pay for it, and we have sold the product for the last seven years and started with a $100 commitment and currently have a $10,000 commitment a month.

The solution has a standard license and standard backups, and they have advanced backups for Oracle or ICP databases. They also have additional products like advanced management, advanced security and email security.

Our licensing costs are around $1,000 per month and that includes storage. We have around 15 terabytes. Everyone looks for better pricing, but it's not that bad. They have changed the licensing three times since we started working with them. They're looking to make things simple. The idea is to use less license numbers. Then there's the transparency; we pay according to time on the platform and would like to know the cost, but it's not available. We get the invoice and by then it's too late. We need the information up front.

Doing what this is capable of doing, the cost of it is in line. I have worked for clients that had big data centers with big racks of blade servers, and so I suppose their server count is in the thousands. One client in particular was using this solution in that setting. Every server has a second network card, so they have two separate networks and one of them is used just for backup because they have very stringent requirements for online service. They have to be online 24/7. They have the production network in the front and behind it they have this other network on which they do backups and redundancy. They're replicating servers all over the place. I think this product is fine, which is what led me to it. I'm essentially using a Ferrari to go to the grocery store, as far as I'm concerned; if you get what I mean.

You can expand the license to add more users. If you want more users you have to purchase a license for the capacity. There is a fee for storage space on the cloud.

The pricing is reasonable. However, it depends on the storage that you use. It would be great to have a package that we can use up to a certain size of the backup, this would allow us to know what the price is going to be up to that capacity.

There are a lot of options available. There are additional security options you can add, such as malware protection.

Acronis Backup is cheaper. If you install it on a hypervisor, you only pay for a single license. It would be for the backup server, and everything else will be covered by it. In that sense, it becomes a much cheaper option.

However, if you have virtual machines, then it can be more expensive. Also, if you have a lot of physical machines the cost can be higher because each entity will need a separate license. There is a monthly license cost.

We use two different types of licenses for our customers.

We have a Cyber Cloud backup license and we have on-premises storage. Both can be useful for our customers.

The licensing works in nodes. For example, for every node, you have to purchase a license. If I have an Active Directory or a physical server, and I have Microsoft Exchange with a third server, SQL, I will have to purchase three licenses from Acronis.

When compared to Barracuda, the license is based on the device's storage.

It is more expensive than Acronis initially, but as the licenses increase with Acronis, Barracuda ends up being less expensive.

The icing on the cake is the price, as it is quite affordable. The pricing is comparable to the newest solution available on the market, Altaro. They are in the same price range.

We don't have hybrid because with that kind of licensing required you will incur twice the expenses.

They are very supportive of the price, even when your subscription is due and you have not paid they give you a grace period, they are quite understanding and give you that personal touch.

When it comes to elements like cost, I think it is the only backup solution which has perpetual licenses, whereby you buy the license once and for all.

I would like to know if there is any other distributor where I can get this solution without necessarily first waiting for one distributor to respond, where there is no confusion, in most cases things do not move right. Look at Acronis, we only have one distributor in East Africa and you can request a price from a distributor and they take their time. Really that one is disturbing some of us a lot.

Excluding the licensing fees, we used a virtual server to install the management console and agents didn't require that much of resource so we didn't need to upgrade any specs on the protected systems. Also, the images were stored on already existing storage. So, basically except the man hours spent on working with software there were no real investment in the setup.
