How has it helped my organization?

The advantages to me are I make two backups. I make a backup of the entire server that goes offsite. That's for disaster recovery. And then I make another copy of just two virtual servers that write on the physical server to a local NAS… more»

What needs improvement?

I have used it in the past. Not the same software, but the same company, and had success with it, and it was fairly easy to use. This one is much more complicated, but there are a lot more things involved in a backup. I have had issues with… more»

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We used the inherent Windows Server Backup in the operating system. And the reason we switched is, the way it's configured, for me to save to a location that's local, it has to take the entire location. In other words, I have to dedicate… more»

What other advice do I have?

I would say it's not a steep learning curve, but there's a learning curve, learning how you want it set up, because of the amount of options that you're given. It's good that you have a lot of different options. It's also bad that you have… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Yes, we evaluated Norton, which I don't like. Acronis. And then, of course, the Microsoft solution. I like Acronis as a company and the backup solution. Like I said, I've used it before, and it was very easy to use. It was a different… more»

What is most valuable?

My favorite feature is that we use it for backing up our VMware environment and then, we just have a few physical servers. I like that I can configure a single backup so as to backup all the VM servers. I also like that it gives you a place for backing up to multiple locations of all the backup jobs/plans. Other features such as setting up the vaults, email notifications, restoring a full VM… more»

How has it helped my organization?

I don't worry that the backups aren't running or panic when a storm is coming through; it just reassures us because we've seen what it's doing, what it can do, and that it's doing what we're asking it to do. For example, if somebody deletes a file out of their Home folder or a shared folder, then knowing that I've got it and that I can get it back fairly quickly is important. Also, if a VM server… more»

What needs improvement?

We have been using this solution for almost a year now. I'm not sure about the improvements aspect because it has been a learning experience for me. However, I know that any time I've come across an issue with it, I open a case with support by calling or starting a chat session and they help me figure it out. A lot of the times, it was just something that I was doing wrong. Setting everything up… more»

What is most valuable?

* Ease of use * It works with different types of partitions or different OSs. * I have a Mac and a Windows-based computer, and it performs with both equally as well.

How has it helped my organization?

I have a backup and can restore. I just restored a backup a month ago. It saved me because it had lots of work/business-related documents that I needed.

What needs improvement?

I would change the GUI a little to make it a bit more interactive. It should have a slightly more updated look, not something which looks like it was designed five years… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I like the pricing, and that it is easy to use and has performed well.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

I was previously using the following: * Symantec, like P.q Magic. * Ghost, which is another competitor, for partitions and backup. * Something with Windows, like a basic… more»

What other advice do I have?

Try all of the solutions in the market. You will see for yourself that Acronis is the easiest to use and stable. It has never failed on me. I have everything I need in the… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have tried other solutions, then I saw Acronis, and it did everything. It was an all-in-one solution for OS, Apple iOS, or Windows. Again, it was easy to follow.

What do you think of Acronis Backup?

In any network and system environment, backup and recovery is one of the most crucial, critical and inevitably important and demanding task. There are two products (Norton Ghost & Acronis True Image) which are top of the line in terms of granularity and flexibility. Reliable and rapid recovery is one of the system administrators’ strong needs in deployed domains. I had used Norton Ghost v.9 quite for some time and the sole purpose for usage was client pc’s restoration in case of HDD failure caused by malfunction, viral activity or any other reason for system drive corruption. Though both Ghost and Acronis provide excellent recovery from scratch for partition recovery to full HDD and Logical Volume backup and restore for almost all Microsoft operating systems (MS Small Business Server,…

What is most valuable?

I would say my favorite feature with Acronis Backup software is creating one job that will backup all of our VM servers. We have about 50 servers and we need to get all of them backed up, and it keeps you from having 50 different backup jobs listed, backup tasks. You create one, and you go in, and you select all of the VMs that you want, or the ones that you don't want, you just leave them unchecked. Then, anytime you add in a new VM server to your environment it's very easy to just go in and add to that new server to the backup job that you already have, you don't have to create anything new… more»

What needs improvement?

I don't see very many opportunities for improvement with this product. On a daily basis it's really easy to use and manage. There are some frustrating things. One in particular is when you're looking through your logs from the previous night's jobs and you see a warning, and you go in, and you try to dig through to find what exactly the warning meant, and you can't find anything. Everything is green, there's no yellow, there's no red, and you have no idea. That can be a little bit frustrating. Other than that, it works really well.

What is most valuable?

Acronis has many features, which are really very interesting, when it comes to data backup and recovery, especially disaster recovery (DR).

How has it helped my organization?

The beauty with it, I can just buy my license and backup in these machines. In addition, it is cost effective compared to other backups.

What needs improvement?

It would be nice to have it on the cloud platform without using third-party equipment. There are some backup solutions which whereby if someone wants to do data backup they can do exchange server backups, Outlook backups, but what I am… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

When it comes to elements like cost, I think it is the only backup solution which has perpetual licenses, whereby you buy the license once and for all. I would like to know if there is any other distributor where I can get this solution… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

No.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is its consistency. It is an established product.

What needs improvement?

I feel like this product a little bit locked in the past. This is not a feature-rich solution. I would like to see a more SaaS-based solution, perhaps more cloud-centric. Essentially, keeping in lock-step with the other companies out there… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis.

What other advice do I have?

Because this solution is not feature-rich, we have looked at other solutions. My advice for somebody who wants to implement this solution is to make sure that they understand the requirements. This includes the RTO (Recovery Time Objective)… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did an evaluation of many different solutions, primarily because we were moving from more on-premise to cloud-based solutions. So, as a result of going to the cloud, we looked at the Best of Breed in the cloud space. Ultimately, we… more»

What is most valuable?

For me, the valuable feature is that they are looking forward at some cloud integrations and to bring in some of their solutions for Azure and other clouds. It's possible to use the solution not only on-premise but also in some cloud environments that have been growing lately. They also have a very big knowledge base and support. If you don't know something or something goes wrong, you can always… more»

What needs improvement?

They need to continue working on it to make it work more smoothly and faster.

What other advice do I have?

it's better to search for a solution from among the top vendors. Acronis is one of them. In any environment you need a backup solution and protection for disaster recovery. You need to use a solution to back up your servers and Active Directory, etc. Acronis is quite a good solution for that. The most important criteria when selecting a vendor are the vendor's reputation and the quality of the… more»
