Acronis Ransomware Protection is one of the best features of the tool. Another feature or advantage of Acronis Backup is its compatibility with multiple platforms, including Windows, Linux, and macOS. It also supports database servers and mailing solutions, such as G Suite.

In our recent experiences, Acronis Cyber Protect proved most valuable during instances of colleagues facing migration challenges due to ransomware impacts. In these situations, where servers and backups were affected, having a backup stored in external drives or other devices within our data centers posed risks. To address this vulnerability, we decided to shift to a cloud backup solution.

Acronis CyberProtect has the deduplication feature, reducing server data by approximately sixty percent, which contributes significantly to cost savings. It supports various operating systems such as Linux, Windows 7, Windows 2019, and Windows 2022. It enables backups for file servers, specific applications, and even Gmail accounts, streamlining our backup processes.

The tool requires just one or two individuals to manage effectively. Additionally, the day-to-day reporting feature enhances our monitoring capabilities. It sends alerts in case of backup failures, providing timely notifications via email. This eliminates the need to manually check the backup status by logging into the system

Its dashboard is easy to navigate for daily operations. The UI simplifies tasks and is accessible on mobile devices. Attaching a machine involves obtaining a code, and entering it during registration. Understanding the functionalities takes about four to five hours. A person with four to five years of IT experience can easily comprehend all the functionalities of the platform within four to five hours, making it a user-friendly platform for administrators.

The main reason we went with Acronis Cyber Protect is because it provides a virtual machine backup feature. We can take a snapshot of our whole virtual machine. Because it's Linux, we could only restore on a volume level with our previous software. We could take the physical volume and restore it one by one, which is not necessarily fast enough.

If we need to restore a whole machine, Acronis gives us the ability to replicate that whole machine. We're using that feature a lot.

Centralized management is valuable to us. We have everything in a single pane of glass. Everything, including Microsoft 365, Google Workstations, servers, and virtual machines, is under one management console. It has EDR as well. To backup, I just click on the backup plan and run it. The tool has helped enhance our organization’s security posture. The solution provides a few features for cyber protection. The integrations run well. We get no errors. If something happens, I can restore it. That’s all I need.

The good thing is that it's a central console. In that console itself, we have multiple options. You can install a file sync option. With the backup itself, you can take a second backup with the client's own cloud and the universal backup, which is like a complete image of the server backup level.

That restoration is very good on the Acronis side compared to other products.

They have their own cloud. Users can work with Azure or AWS as well.

It's very easy to manage. We are an MSSP partner, so we have multiple customers in a single console we can easily manage. There is no need for a server requirement. The server is okay for a backup. If all the backups are in Arcserve, we need a separate server to install the backup. There is an additional cost associated with that approach, however, here, there is no cost.

The solution is easy to set up.

It is very stable.

Scalability isn't an issue.

This is a perfect option for an SMB.

Since the last version, everything has been improved. Each update Acronis releases brings better performance, recovery, and backup. Acronis also fixed existing errors and added new compatibility. With every new version, the solution continues to get better and better.

The solution's software is highly secure, with an anti-Malware and anti-ransomware engine, plus additional features such as vulnerability assessment, remote management, and remote control. Malware scanning is integrated into the single agent for added convenience. All in all, this is an impressive product and I highly recommend it.

Acronis Backup is easy to use and we've had no issues with it in the years we've been using Acronis; the backups and recoveries are rock solid and it's great for transitioning between physical to physical, virtual to virtual, physical to virtual, and virtual to physical.

The administration is pretty flexible in terms of defining a multi-tenant type of setup. They've come up with a new feature this year, an anti-malware solution. It's focused for MSPs and enables clients and users to be setup to access only one customer or customers. The idea is great although it still needs some work. They also have a notary application to sign files as well as support for Office 365 and even Google Apps backup. We're able to back up mailboxes and OneDrive and SharePoint, things like that.

It has the ability to backup and move to a different machine if the machine dies. I haven't been able to use this feature yet, but I know it will come in handy. The ability to move from one machine to another for backup if a machine completely fails. We have a backup of not only the machine, i.e., the hard drive and data, but we also have the ability to recover to a new piece of equipment fairly quickly. That's one of the more important features.

It makes a full image of the hard drive. If a hard drive fails, all we do is recover to another hard drive. We just pop in the hard drive and that's very fast as well. Speed and the ease in which we recover full hard drives are valuable features.

From my perspective, the most valuable features in Acronis Cyber Protect include ransomware protection and antivirus. These features not only add significant value but also play a crucial role in closing deals. When selling backup for Microsoft 365, these security features, like ransomware protection and antivirus, serve as a starting point to offer backup and protection.

Integrating backup and antivirus in one platform has significantly enhanced data protection for our customers. It uses a single agent for both backup and preventing ransomware attacks. This approach eliminates the need for different agents installed on end-user computers, addressing performance concerns.

For cybersecurity needs, the patch management feature in Acronis Cyber Protect has proven highly effective. It comes in handy when new patches are released, particularly for third-party applications that are not Windows-based. Third-party applications like Chrome may have vulnerabilities, and Acronis Cyber Protect enables the easy deployment of updates to ensure end-users are running the latest versions.

Version 11.7 was good, but 12.5 is much more sophisticated. It does a lot of things that 11.7 didn't do, like protecting from ransomware. The structure and the organization of it is better than 11.7. In terms of backups, it works more efficiently. It takes less time to do the backups than 11.7 did, and a whole lot less time. From my perspective, it does what it's supposed to do. It backs up and secures my data.

If you get hit by malware and it says, "I'm gonna crash your machine in five minutes," or something like that, this software finds it out and recovers it right away. It restores your machine automatically to where it was. That's an enormous stride forward.

If you need to recover, it's the best recovery software I've ever used and I've been in this business for over 30 years. Plug a disc in and tell it to recover this machine and it's done. You walk away from it and it's done. Reboot it and it's perfect.

I would say my favorite feature with Acronis Backup software is creating one job that will backup all of our VM servers. We have about 50 servers and we need to get all of them backed up, and it keeps you from having 50 different backup jobs listed, backup tasks. You create one, and you go in, and you select all of the VMs that you want, or the ones that you don't want, you just leave them unchecked. Then, anytime you add in a new VM server to your environment it's very easy to just go in and add to that new server to the backup job that you already have, you don't have to create anything new, you just add it in, and you're good to go.

The most valuable feature is the fact that you can archive backups quite easily and minimize the amount of space you're using. I do full backups about once a month and differential ones most days. The fact is that it's very easy to cut out the middle ones and just keep the last differential, thus reducing the space usage.

It comes with a few extra tools that I use from time to time, such as a disk-clone utility.

The backup process is reasonably speedy. It finished the backup in a reasonable amount of time, ready to work the next day.

My favorite feature is that we use it for backing up our VMware environment and then, we just have a few physical servers. I like that I can configure a single backup so as to backup all the VM servers. I also like that it gives you a place for backing up to multiple locations of all the backup jobs/plans.

Other features such as setting up the vaults, email notifications, restoring a full VM, restoring just down to files and folders (once you know exactly how to do it, it's very easy and quick to do) are also valuable. So, there are a lot of things that I really like about it.

One of the features I have found most valuable is the restore point - it gives us what we need at the time we need it. The important thing is that the backup for Acronis doesn't depend as much on the device.

Another reason we use Acronis is that it allows you to back up a lot of data without losing too much on the time delay during the backup. Also, the amount of data that you can back up for one price is much better than other solutions where the price depends on the amount of the data being backed up.

The speed of the backup solution depends a lot on the speed being deployed on the customer side. For some customers, Acronis is a much better solution.

Imaging of the operating system is the most valuable feature. We were performing an in-house upgrade of some critical servers, we wanted a recovery plan to go back to the operating status of the server.

Very easy to restore backups down to the item level depending on what you are backing up. We have used Acronis Backup and Recovery for around 4 years backing up our Datacentre servers and individual application servers such as Exchange, Sharepoint and SQL. Acronis Backup and Recovery has a simple interface that allows administrators to quickly achieve basic backup tasks and restoration. Administration only becomes difficult when configuring complex backup tasks. View full review »

Mounting .tibs, Live Boot Restore, and Universal Restore:

  • Being able to open and mount .tib images allows for easy restoring of files.
  • Live boot DVD allows for easy restore of entire system in a catastrophic hard drive failure without having to rebuild OS from scratch and then installing programs and restoring data. (I highly recommend performing at least one test restore to a hard drive of similar size, to the boot drive being imaged, to be sure images can be restored successfully).
  • Universal Restore allows for moving of systems to new and dissimilar computer hardware. All are valuable and reliable with Acronis Backup 11.7.50220.

The recovery system works great. I recovered the systems in few minutes from a disaster. It has a very clear and easy to use Interface. The vast amount of knowledge base articles on its site is great for troubleshooting issues. I liked the feature to split backups into multiple files to fit different media types. It has data encryption, which encrypts your backups as a security precaution. View full review »

For me, the valuable feature is that they are looking forward at some cloud integrations and to bring in some of their solutions for Azure and other clouds. It's possible to use the solution not only on-premise but also in some cloud environments that have been growing lately.

They also have a very big knowledge base and support. If you don't know something or something goes wrong, you can always find yourself a solution or contact help and receive good consultation.
