Acronis Backup Valuable Features

I use two products. I use the backup solution and I use something called Disk Director, which is a related product. Together, they allow me to manage all of my storage space. I'm a software developer and I'm often reconfiguring things. These tools help me backup my workstations and servers on a regular basis. They also help me reconfigure for a new project. It has the ability to backup and move to a different machine if the machine dies. I haven't been able to use this feature yet, but I know it will come in handy. The ability to move from one machine to another for backup if a machine completely fails. We have a backup of not only the machine, i.e., the hard drive and data, but we also have the ability to recover to a new piece of equipment fairly quickly. That's one of the more important features. It makes a full image of the hard drive. If a hard drive fails, all we do is recover to another hard drive. We just pop in the hard drive and that's very fast as well. Speed and the ease in which we recover full hard drives are valuable features. Click Here for FREE Trial of Acronis Backup. See Why It Gets 5-Star Reviews. View full review »

I think just the part that is, we can configure the system. It's backing it up, every computer, as we went. The parameters, and automatically, the program does it. View full review »

My favorite feature is that we use it for backing up our VMware environment and then, we just have a few physical servers. I like that I can configure a single backup so as to backup all the VM servers. I also like that it gives you a place for backing up to multiple locations of all the backup jobs/plans. Other features such as setting up the vaults, email notifications, restoring a full VM, restoring just down to files and folders View full review »

Backup and recovery are the main things for us. We backup using the incremental feature every two weeks. We use the full backup feature for external hard drives. They usually fill about 5 Terabytes. We then switch them out for storage offsite and it works really well for us. View full review »

I use the backup recovery for work station, for server, and disk director. I also like the fact they provide real support. I have human support, which is very important, and they've really improved. The software is very, very flexible, there are a lot of options. I can encrypt the data, I can make it send me an email if it fails. It lets me choose which files I want to ignore during backup. I can do incremental or differential. And there is the Universal Restore, which is less and less important today, but it's still there. View full review »

I would definitely say the backup and recovery. It used to be a separate module. It was a recovery part and it would literally duplicate the machine to bare bones. View full review »

I've reimaged servers and been back up and running in exactly no time with the completely new hardware. The Universal Restore allows you to reimage a computer without having to have all the drivers. It allows you to boot the machine; once you get the machine up and running, then you can install the drivers. Getting an image of a server machine just for disaster recovery purposes is valuable. We have used it to back up systems and we have recovered systems. The amount of features that it has and reliability has been really good. View full review »

Version 11.7 was good, but 12.5 is much more sophisticated. It does a lot of things that 11.7 didn't do, like protecting from ransomware. The structure and the organization of it is better than 11.7. In terms of backups, it works more efficiently. It takes less time to do the backups than 11.7 did, and a whole lot less time. From my perspective, it does what it's supposed to do. It backs up and secures my data. If you get hit by malware and it says, "I'm gonna crash your machine in five minutes," or something like that, this software finds it out and recovers it right away. It restores your machine automatically to where it was. That's an enormous stride forward. If you need to recover, it's the best recovery software I've ever used and I've been in this business for over 30 years. Plug a disc in and tell it to recover this machine and it's done. You walk away from it and it's done. Reboot it and it's perfect. Special for IT Central Station Visitors: Free 30-Day Trial of Acronis Backup 12.5 View full review »

Consistency and reliability. The interface is easy to understand and consistent across applications. While not 100%, it is a very reliable backup solution. I would say my favorite feature with Acronis Backup software is creating one job that will backup all of our VM servers. We have about 50 servers and we need to get all of them backed up, and it keeps you from having 50 different backup jobs listed, backup tasks. You create one, and you go in, and you select all of the VMs that you want, or the ones that you don't want, you just leave them unchecked. Then, anytime you add in a new VM server to your environment it's very easy to just go in and add to that new server to the backup job that you already have, you don't have to create anything new, you just add it in, and you're good to go. We chose Acronis as our backup solution because of the diversity in the types of backups it can provide. One of my favorite features of the Acronis backup product is the ability to replicate the backups. Backup data can be replicated to a second, third, or even fourth data source. View full review »

The fact that I can backup my entire computer including the operating system, registry, etc., and my data drive. I can optionally restore either one or more entire drives or specific files or folders. The backup can be done automatically each night, and can be either a full or an incremental backup. I do the full backup each Sunday and incremental backups all other nights. View full review »

Mounting .tibs, Live Boot Restore, and Universal Restore: * Being able to open and mount .tib images allows for easy restoring of files. * Live boot DVD allows for easy restore of entire system in a catastrophic hard drive failure without having to rebuild OS from scratch and then installing programs and restoring data. (I highly recommend performing at least one test restore to a hard drive of similar size, to the boot drive being imaged, to be sure images can be restored successfully). * Universal Restore allows for moving of systems to new and dissimilar computer hardware. All are valuable and reliable with Acronis Backup 11.7.50220. View full review »
