In traditional controller-based operations, people locally managing the APs face certain difficulties in managing every location because they need to log in to each individual controller for that specific location. So they don't know exactly where these APs are in the floor plan. We can't do all such things in the WLC unless we have a separate monitoring platform like AirWave in Aruba.

ExtremeCloud IQ is one solution where you can manage all these APs in a single glass and move from one location to another within the tabs with just a few mouse clicks. Also, you can place the AP positions, upload the floor planning to the ExtremeCloud IQ, and plan the heat map. You can manage and monitor information like which AP is broadcasting the signal in the floor plan, where that actual AP is positioned, how many clients are connected to the AP, the channel utilization, and the interference surrounding the AP.

So along with that, you can manage users, see the user statistics, see how many users are connected to the specific access point, the traffic they are passing, how much data they have consumed, and what websites they're accessing. The solution gives you a complete device-level and user-level 360-degree view. The solution is integrated with AI and ML. It offers some things in automation and the back end with the machine learning algorithm. It provides complete user statistics as well as device statistics.

Previously, we had a Ubiquiti WIFI system across our 32 acre campus. The signal strength was great, but it was not robust. Once 10-15 clients connected to an AP the whole system would slow to a crawl. Aerohive changed that for us. We now have no issues of automatically load balancing all of our APs.

Wireless is critical infrastructure in my environment. If my drivers cannot use their handheld scanners to connect to the network for inventory then the company is losing money. With all of the resiliency features and ability to scale I never have to worry about whether people can actually get work done. I'll go weeks at a time without needing to even look at the Hive manager interface and when I do it's because I need to either provision a new AP or update a network policy. It is pretty much a "set it and forget it" product.

The “single pane of glass” view into your wireless network allows you to manage all of your access points and clients in one location, greatly reducing the amount of time it may take to isolate and resolve issues.

Competing products dependent upon controllers are a heavy lift. It can often seem as though you're managing a completely parallel network in addition to the wired LAN. This isn't the case with Aerohive. Most organizations don't have the human capital to spend on heavy management of a WLAN. Aerohive makes it much faster and easier to deploy. I had a a fully configured network (802.1X EAP/PEAP and guest SSIDs) deployed in a day. The built-in security features also make it much easier to provide compliance reports quickly.
