Express in default configuration mode with first turn-on is easy to set up and deploy from a medium installation standpoint. It offers very easy integration with the current wired network. Express mode provides a reliable infrastructure solution with easy deployment and maintenance procedures, simple configuration of backup and restore, and automated virtual management controller placement. We can restore with only one fixed IP for management purposes. In combination with ALE's LAN switches with embedded R8 SW intelligent fabric automation we can create a new WLAN and map them to existing or new VLANs in one click.

The features aren't much different than those in Aruba, but deployment is easier to configure and the pricing is better.

Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar is close to other products like Aruba, Huawei, or Ruckus in terms of control and management planes, and the latest radio and security technologies supported. One feature that differentiates Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar from some other vendors is the fact that on-premise OmniVista licenses are perpetual. Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar is a mid-range product with respect to pricing and the target market we are looking for.

OmniAccess Stellar AP1230 Series is better than CISCO highest model Aironet 3800i AP in terms of quality, user capacity, coverage, performance and price. Moreover, there's no Hardware Controller, it's totally managed by a software defined on-premises Controller which is easy very to handle.

The solution's most valuable aspects include its BYOD features, user network profiles, and unified communication.

The initial setup is pretty straightforward. 

This product can be divided in 3 types of WLAN. 

• OmniAccess WLAN (requires a physical controller)
• IAP WLAN (same as OAW but with a virtual controller, and the VC is exactly the same as OAW – limited by the number of APs)
• AP1101 (with a virtual controller, very simple and easy to use – intended for SMB, also limited to the number of APs).

With these three types, Alcatel-Lucent can give the client a range of solutions within budget of each, and still guarantee the quality of the solution.

I like the Captive Portal and the Spectrum Monitor features. The CLI is also very good.
