What is most valuable?

The image backup on VM is the most valuable feature. You can restore to another location or another physical/virtual machine. You can do P2V as well as V2V. That is what I… more »

How has it helped my organization?

The main thing is recovery. I have had a lot of hardware failures quite recently due to power fluctuations and overheating. Therefore, I am using it on a lab environment… more »

What needs improvement?

The encryption feature seems okay. When you change versions, then I have found it to have problems. An example: I was on version 3.9, and I had an encrypted VM. It was… more »

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I was using their free version, which had limitations, so then I went to the licensed version. It has actually benefited my operation a fair bit. VMware requires a special… more »

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've been using Veeam for quite some time with other customers. I don't know of other customers who use Vembu, but it's very similar to Veeam. I'm finding it quite similar… more »

What other advice do I have?

I have learned just how important backups are. My advice would be try and implement it on virtual environments. Don't implement it on a physical environment because the… more »

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I know that the normal Windows Backup won't backup the VMs if you're using it in a HA Failover Clustering environment. If you're using it in a clustered high availability… more »

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is that you can do a bare-metal restore even with dissimilar hardware. I can restore my image on a Dell server that I got from an HP server, as long as the specs are in… more »

What needs improvement?

They do a lot of maintenance. In the span of six months, maintenance is done at least twice and you are told that it is coming up, with apologies for the inconvenience. It's a distraction, and it… more »

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The icing on the cake is the price, as it is quite affordable. The pricing is comparable to the newest solution available on the market, Altaro. They are in the same price range. We don't have hybrid… more »

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Veritas in the past, but I had a very bad experience and it has traumatized me so I don't speak about that product. I have used Commvault and that solution is quite similar to Veeam… more »

What other advice do I have?

It's best to go full cloud or even purchase the storage from Acronis rather than having an on-premises install where you have to purchase advanced licenses, only to go to the cloud. That is the… more »

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I evaluated Mozy at the time I was evaluating Acronis Backup. Acronis could do what Mozy could not. I realized that they had a local distributor for us, who offered us a lot of help.

What is most valuable?

The fact that Azure Backup is integrated is one of its biggest advantages. Everything is on one platform and we can use it from PowerShell automation, which is helpful. The recovery, in many cases, is quite fluid.

What needs improvement?

It would be helpful if it included the ability to perform Office 365 backups so that we didn't have to use additional software. In the next release, I would like to see the ability to back up to different cloud providers. For example, some customers would like to be able to synchronize with an… more »

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

In addition to Azure Backup, we have experience with Veeam and Altaro. The main difference between Azure Backup and other solutions is that it is oriented to back up Azure Cloud data. The other solutions offer more functionality for on-premises environments and help to synchronize files across local… more »

What other advice do I have?

To this point, I have not run across any issues that are blocking. My advice to anybody who is considering this solution is to go ahead and use it. It works and it's a good service on the platform. It is just one of the building blocks that we use every day on Azure, so I can't see any reason to… more »
