Alteryx Initial Setup
Installing the Alteryx server and navigating their environment can be complex.
The setup was pretty straightforward. We have a group that handles deployments within our company, and we get our license. They have Alteryx servers set up. I'm just in charge of the users with licenses. We had an implementation strategy that was completed in a few weeks.

Moreover, deploying the solution on a gallery typically takes around five to ten minutes, perhaps even just five minutes. Most of this time is used to ensure that your dependencies are correctly saved in the designated path. That's the only check we need to perform. Otherwise, it's more or less straightforward.
It is deployed on the cloud. We have a remote tax team as well, so our users are tax professionals. The outputs are shared by these tax professionals with their clients.

In order to deploy it, you need to have Alteryx Designer. You have to have that installed on your machine. We have a yearly license and you just basically renew your license with Alteryx to keep it active.
In order to maintain our flows, there is very little maintenance needed.

That's something we're still working on. We started with about 100 licenses and identified areas where we thought it could add value. That has been demonstrated, and we are working to scale significantly over the next year. It's been a two to four-year journey from discovery to widespread adoption.

The initial setup was very straightforward. I was able to install it and get it running up and running quickly and the process was very simple.
When I started doing a machine-learning model in a project writing my own code, it took me in-all about three or four days to complete it. For my initial experimentation, I decided to replicate that model in Alteryx. As someone who understood models but did not know the program at all, it took me two hours or less than that to complete the test. Once you learn how to drag-and-drop things in the interface, it is very easy to start on development as long as you know what you want to do.
The initial setup is very simple and straightforward. I've used it for a long time and previously used it as a desktop application. While it was simple then, now that they've moved to the cloud, it's even easier.
View full review »The initial setup is quite straightforward, I would rate it four out of five.
View full review »It's not complex, and it's also not straightforward. It depends on which database and how many functions you are using or how much you are designing through Alteryx. If there are a lot of structures and if there are a lot of values that you're doing through Alteryx, then it would be hard. That said, from my experience, it's actually not that tough.

Alteryx wasn't deployed in the previous project. It was somewhat irregular. We ultimately did the dashboard in Power BI, but nobody was using Power BI as a data cleaning and transformation tool, so we used Alteryx as a proof of concept, We also deployed the cleaned data to use in a dashboard, and the dashboard was delivered to the client.

Prebuilt connectors are available, and you may need to create middleware, particularly for SharePoint. Most clients have it in either SharePoint or GoDrive which doesn't have a direct connector, we will have to create another one.
As long as you are connected to the source countryside, the tool itself doesn't require any special maintenance.

The initial setup was straightforward because they had a suite. They have packages that need to be integrated and can be set up easily. They have different strategies for cloud and on-premises. For on-premises, they have a suite based on the license.
The deployment and maintenance require only about three technical staff. We have about three clients using this solution and plan to pitch more plans.

The initial setup of Alteryx is straightforward. However, when we are setting it up for an enterprise it gives too much leeway for an end-user. For example, the license location, activation, and license management are not good. When we want to have some control over who is using the license, who is not using the license, there are some issues, we already informed Alteryx about it. We need better control over the whole process.

The number of people involved in the initial setup depends on the size of the deployment. It is usually very few compared to other solutions. You don't even need special resources, so anyone can do. Even if it is on a server, anyone that knows it can repair the server, keep it running, and deploy any solutions. I think it's very straightforward, even to deploy larger solutions.
It takes between one and three people to deploy, but they don't need to be technicians, that's the cool thing.

I would say the initial setup is straightforward. It takes the technical team just a few days to deploy this solution. It is deployed in days, not months or weeks.
In terms of deployment, you only really need one person to complete it and that is good enough. You might use two technicians depending on the skill set, the scale of the deployment and the business areas the client focuses on. The maintenance is pretty cheap. The same people that do the deployment manage it for us.
