Alteryx Other Advice

To someone evaluating whether to go for Alteryx, I would say it's more simplistic, and you don't need a computer science engineering degree to use it. However, analysts should have a basic understanding of databases and SQL. If your analysts possess these skills, they can quickly grasp the solution. Additionally, staying closely connected with your IT teams during implementation is important to ensure that all components are installed for optimal results. Overall, I would rate the solution an eight out of ten.

I rate Alteryx nine out of 10. I might be biased because of what I'm achieving with it. I don't think we've reached the extent of our usage. I want to increase the data analytics with it. My advice to prospective Alteryx users is to have a good plan. Run through some tests in scenarios where you think it might provide you with a good solution.

Overall, I would recommend Alteryx for complex data analysis needs. We are considering moving to Tableau Prep.

The solution is great as a standalone product. However, there are certain add-ons provided by Alteryx that are very useful but come with additional costs on top of the licensing fees. This aspect can be a bit of a downside. So, overall, considering this factor, I would rate Alteryx at around seven out of ten.

There are numerous benefits to using Alteryx. It's user-friendly and allows for data transformations, making tasks easy to understand.

In today's world, where every field deals with data, it is essential to have tools that enable us to manipulate, clean, transform, and build dashboards from data. Traditionally, Python and other programming languages were used for data preparation, but now with Alteryx Online, even individuals without coding experience can enter the field and provide valuable solutions to clients. This makes it a useful tool for anyone who needs to work with data.

I rate Alteryx a nine out of ten.

When I first started using the solution I was working with the state and was given six years of pregnant women and children data and it took 35 minutes to process the data. I tested the same data recently and it took .3 seconds.

Data should be returned within 30 seconds to make to process useful and if the solution does not provide this, then it is not beneficial.

Cloud deployments are not as quick as the on-premise.

I would advise others that they need someone who understands their domain in terms of the field that they are in. They need to have someone to hold their hand for the first ninety days. Once they pass the ninety days they will be set for the future.

I rate Alteryx a ten out of ten.

The company really does provide a lot of those resources. The community is very good. The knowledge base that's out there in the community is great. Alteryx is the best solution for people who want their data in a structured way. It is a bit complicated for a new user. The complexity of the tool is evident by the fact that only if you provide an exact input to this tool it will give you the output. However, if you know a little about Alteryx, it is a very good tool for you. We are using an on-cloud deployment for this solution.

Simply strike a balance between democratizing the use of data transformation and analytics and having a vision for how you might want to roll things out. I would rate this solution 9 out of 10.

Alteryx is the kind of software that a corporation would want to go with and to deploy on for people who are not really data scientists and that have to use data, design dashboards, have to clean and prepare data and so on. That's an effective way to use Alteryx. To go for a sophisticated data science type of added value, a data scientist would want to work with programming languages and use a lot of the libraries that are available. At some point, they would want to put all this code and integrate this code into the platform so that less sophisticated users can use the analysis done outside operational lines.

This is definitely the kind of software that is a time-saver if you want to start working on different data sources or a lot of data sources, and you want to work with the data, angle the data, cross-link and so on. It's very good and very easy to use. It's visual, so it's easier to understand what you are doing. When it comes to putting some intelligence into it, it's enough for most people. There is enough that is loaded into software that can help you. The Alteryx interface may be easier to understand than KNIME. You are able to do some nice things with it in just a week.

I have a really good impression of Alteryx at this point in time. So I would suggest to people who are considering this type of solution to go ahead and try it. If you are looking for a self-service data analytics tool, Alteryx is a good solution. It does a good job of end-to-end integration as well as accessing data from multiple sources or email modes. Then you can push data out to Tableau and Power BI or tools like that if you need other capabilities. So, 'go ahead and try it' would be my recommendation.

On a scale from one to ten where ten is the best and one it the worst, I would rate Alteryx as easily a solid eight. From my use case and considering the point that I'm not seeing and using everything, I can't give it more or less. But from our use case and what we have in our company, it is pretty good for several purposes.

At first, you need to know the capabilities of Alteryx. It's a good idea to attend a lot of webinars or do a project. That would be really helpful to understand how powerful Alteryx is. Alteryx is used a lot in financial industries, according to what I have seen. It becomes really taxing to do everything in Excel or spreadsheets. Something that would take an hour or two hours to do it manually can take five to 10 minutes for Alteryx. Therefore, try a small project or understand the intricacies of Alteryx and that will get you started.

I'd rate it seven out of ten.

We're a corporate user and end-user of the product.

While I don't know the version number off the top of my head, I can say with certainty that we are using the latest one.

The solution is going to be best for technical users or people that have hands-on experience with data such as data scientists or people that can be creative and deal with multiple different databases and different permutations in the structured query language right across those different databases.

It's fairly standard, however, not completely, and so, people in that realm tend to be able to function well, people that are analysts may struggle and have a bit of a learning curve that they have to deal with. I've been doing this throughout the information life cycle - about 35 years plus. Therefore, for me, it's my second nature. Others that haven't been exposed to technology over that timeframe may struggle.

Alteryx uses the UI interface wherein you can easily do a lot of things, and it doesn't have to code a lot.

My initial objective was to understand if a non-technical person with a small data science team could leverage a platform that can do a lot of things other than putting in a lot of resources. That's one of the reasons why our company chose Alteryx.

Alteryx is one of the few tools where user experience and customer feedback are up to the mark. I was from a non-technical background, and I wanted to create operators and do a lot of analysis and data cleaning on my own. With Alteryx, I didn't have to do anything except create the flow.

I would suggest that the decision to purchase the product should be based on a company's level of deployment. If it's for a process for a pharma company, which is a smaller enterprise. then I recommend starting with KNIME. As the data gets bigger, switch to Alteryx.

I think they should have a student version just like Tableau does. Not all the tools, but the basic top 10 or 15 tools. The reason I suggest this is because there's a huge need for Alteryx users, but because of its 14-day trial period, a lot of students cannot get a handle on it so a scaled-down light version would be good.

I would rate this product an 9 out of 10.

Advice that I would give to people considering Alteryx as a solution depends on the real needs from business to business and in accord with what use cases they have. I think Alteryx definitely takes away the potential problem of having to have a lot of technical expertise. Any business user can use Alteryx to develop their business case and use the program's options much quicker without having the technical knowledge and programming know-how. It really depends on the skills and resources of the individuals in the company. They should use Alteryx if they want users to be able to walk through the process and deploy their own use cases without having a deeper technical knowledge and skills that other products may require.

What we have learned from using the product is that it is definitely a great advantage for the business users to not need to have great technical skills and programming knowledge to complete their analysis. The business users can build their own analytical use case, visualize what they want to do more easily and quickly, and revise it without any dependencies on other staff and additional communications.

On a scale from one to ten where one is the worst and ten is the best, I would rate this product as a seven-out-of-ten.
