Alteryx Other Solutions Considered
It was Tableau Prep. It is a competitor to Alteryx, and initially, I considered going with Tableau Prep. However, the decision to choose Alteryx was made by higher-ups in my company. Upon further understanding, I found that Tableau Prep currently does not catch up to Alteryx in terms of features.
We evaluated other options, but the decision was made by our corporate leaders, and I can't recall what the alternatives were.

Currently, we are only using Alteryx within our organization. Moreover, we have plans to make these solutions available to our clients as well. We plan to deploy these solutions in our internal platforms, which can trigger the workloads and provide outputs to the client. We are working on that, but for now, we are primarily developing the solution for ourselves.

View full review »KNIME is probably the alternative to Alteryx for someone who needs a package. The package can do a lot of things without needing too much programming and with zero code. It's very good for someone who needs access to algorithmic content without needing to develop it. However, I don't have concrete experience using it.
They are both very good packages for someone who wants to develop dashboards or use algorithms without knowing the nuts and bolts or with limited coding. They are very practical. The difference between the two platforms is very limited. They are equivalent.
I used Alteryx for data preparation, and KNIME can do it just the same. The two are very close in terms of concept and the way the two softwares work, but there are lots of tools for data preparation. Right now, I use a lot of loose programming. I develop scripts with R, and that is the most effective way I've seen because I can do whatever I like. I have 100% flexibility.
I think that a real data scientist would go with R or Python and use Spark. It's a totally different world, and these softwares need much more investment in time and effort to understand how to use them. It's a lot of work, whereas Alteryx and KNIME are for the casual user. They are more for the people who are in companies and need to work on data without clearly understanding the mathematics behind it.
View full review »- KNIME: A modeling tool not easy to learn, track/audit, or deploy quickly.
- RapidMiner: Good analytics capabilities, deep learning. However, not good for ETL, data quality, or spatial enrichment.
- SAS: Extremely expensive, archaic, and no need to take the risk.
- SPSS modeler: Second best for modeling, but not enough spatial. It is hard to deploy and has a lack of vision.
I evaluated Spark for its functions. In comparison, Alteryx manages massive data more smoothly.

I evaluated Datawatch and QlikView.
Datawatch: Performance was not great and it was not so straightforward to implement.

I've been searching about the difference between both Dataiku and Alteryx products. I'm working to evaluate the two and compare them to each other. Technically, we have a customer who is comparing both products, so we have to prepare a document comparing them for that purpose.

Before we choose Alteryx, we did weigh other options from different vendors. In fact, we still use other technologies. We cannot properly service client needs by just using Alteryx as the only solution we offer. Because client needs differ, we are using other products that we evaluated and determined were also serviceable technologies to deliver for client use.
