KNIME is one of the tools I'm familiar with. It's an open-source tool, you know. However, the distinction I observe between Alteryx and KNIME is that Alteryx is like to an iPhone, providing a more secure and protected environment. This is unlike KNIME, which can be compared to an Android. This differentiation is why I advocated for my team and organization to adopt Alteryx over KNIME, irrespective of cost savings or other considerations.

Alteryx is indeed more secure than KNIME. KNIME, on the other hand, is essentially an open solution.

So, when it comes to ETL tools, Alteryx stands out as a more secure solution compared to others.

I used IDEA, but it was too slow. It was on x86 support, whereas Alteryx supports x64. So, we moved to Alteryx.

When trying to pull large datasets into Tableau right away we realized that we had to do something different. Prior to Alteryx being available, I would use scripting to stage the data. I happened to notice an ad on LinkedIn for Alteryx, and I thought, "Wow, this is exactly what I need." I talked management into buying it. I was the first one in the company to start using the product.

We switched because we wanted to. We didn't have anything that could do everything Alteryx did, in my opinion. We had some minor transformation tools and such, but nothing that could truly compete with Alteryx.

We make use of another ETL solution, the PowerCenter.

We also make use of Databricks, which we use as a data science platform, although I cannot say how this compares with Alteryx. We use Databricks as a corporate ETL solution from the Data Lake.

We use Microsoft Azure, as well.

Before Alteryx we tried of KNIME. The learning curve for KNIME is steeper than Alteryx. Alteryx is much more user-friendly than KNIME, at least from our experience on both products. Also, KNIME functionality is limited for the free version so it was harder to explore the full capabilities. When we tried the free license for Alteryx, we got the full use of the client license for 14 days and then we were able to get an extension to explore our testing of it for some time. But we did use KNIME before that for long enough to be familiar with the differences. My impression of Alteryx is that it is more user-friendly than KNIME and the built-in modeling in Alteryx is much better than KNIME.

We've been testing RapidMiner for quite some time. We wanted to have another option in pipeline if there happen to be any stability issues and budget issues happening or if the cost of Alteryx becomes an issue. However, in terms of RapidMiner, we have not fully used it for multiple reasons.

I previously used DataIQ, which is a similar product but is fully in the cloud. I was pretty impressed by it and would probably rate it higher than Alteryx.

I have had experience in automating projects in Excel and Alteryx, among others.

I have more experience in Alteryx itself than in Designer. A lot of databases were modeled, and we went and changed or updated the models, attributes, and entities. Then, what we did is we created them in Excel and we just auto-run it whenever we needed to.

We had used JMP, which is a product by SAS, and it really didn't have any capability of doing the automation that Aletryx has, other than some really bespoke programming language. It is a type of script language.

It is very awkward to learn and use it.
