Amazon EC2 Other Advice

If someone hasn't started using EC2 yet, I'd recommend exploring it. EC2 offers simplicity, robustness, and support for efficient cloud operations. It's a tool that's definitely worth considering.

Overall, I would rate the solution a solid ten on ten.

I would recommend that new users be very clear on what they require from this solution, and advise that they start with the 'user on demand' package until they know exactly what level of usage they need.

My company uses AWS products, including cloud services. Amazon EC2 is being used within the company as well.

My company has about ten thousand employees that use Amazon EC2 because everybody connects to the internet. For example, employees use the mail service from the console and Outlook service on the cloud. Everyone uses the internet within the company, so that means Amazon EC2 is being used as well, especially in this COVID situation.

Right now, employees use more applications such as streaming and video services which require more connectivity and cloud capacity, so there's a plan to increase usage for Amazon EC2.

In terms of how much staff is required for the deployment and maintenance of Amazon EC2, I'm not quite sure how much technical staff my company has because some of the technical staff was outsourced. There's no permanent IT staff in the office.

I'm recommending Amazon EC2 to other people because it's a critical product that has more reliability. It has good quality, and it also has many features, so if the features support your use cases, then Amazon EC2 would be a good product for you.

My rating for Amazon EC2 is nine out of ten.

I am using the latest version of Amazon EC2. Amazon EC2 is deployed in our organization on cloud. If you know you will use a virtual machine for a long time, it is better to have Amazon EC2 as a reserve, which will be way cheaper.

Overall, I rate Amazon EC2 an eight out of ten.

Overall, I would rate the product a one out of ten. I wouldn't recommend other people to use the solution. My issue with Amazon is not with the product but with the company's ethics. I wouldn't trust them with anything so I would rate it a one out of ten. In January 2020, Amazon closed down a billion-dollar company just because it was a competitor to Twitter, and they thought Donald Trump would get an account on it. They broke all their contracts, destroyed the company, and left them unable to recover. That's why I don't trust Amazon as far as I can throw them.

I would rate the solution a nine out of ten. I like the product’s performance. We have a different methodology where we check the work and evaluate how it is beneficial and how we can reduce the costs. My company is working on this. We use the solution for temporary use cases. My team uses it to build, produce and monitor the cloud versions. If there is a need to scale up or down, we will do that. Amazon EC2 has auto-load elastic LV.

The solution is stable and we have never faced any downtime with it. We also have an alarm system where we get ticket notifications. Our applications have never been down and we are happy with Amazon EC2.

In terms of the EC2 services, it's an amazing product, in terms of the computational power and the flexibility and then the number of features and services they provide, it's awesome actually.

I would rate it a ten out of ten.

My advice to anyone considering this is that they need to evaluate if it's necessary to have EC2, or if it is cheaper to run something in-house. It's very important because you don't want to throw money at cloud service providers if you can do it yourself. But the good thing is that cloud service providers take care of all the infrastructure and everything so you don't have to worry about that. It's nice to also have someone else accountable for your every structure rather than employing so many people at your job to do the work. That's the only good side about it. It is easy to learn Azure and all those GCP products.

On a scale of one to ten I would give Amazon EC2 an 8.

I definitely would not give it a 10. It's not the best of the best because we still have issues with downtime. We still have issues with the cost of storage, with all these different instance styles, and how much it costs. They cost an arm and a leg the higher you go. Sometimes performance is an issue because of the kind of incidents that you have. That is why it cannot be a nine or a 10. But because CloudWatch is embedded in it, it lets you know when your system fails by sending you an email. It also has Trend Micro included. I think you may have to pay for it, am not sure. So it has benefits if you use it with other AWS services.

If you're planning to use Amazon EC2, I recommend thoroughly testing your servers beforehand. This is especially important if you're migrating from an existing server to Amazon EC2, as there can be issues with transferring the entire image. To avoid any problems, make sure to test the image you're importing before the migration process.

Azure uses Sentinel, which is dedicated to security information and event management. However, AWS does not have a centralized solution for SIEM. AWS is using security hubs like GuardDuty, but it is for different purposes. We have to log in to these dashboards separately. AWS needs to have a centralized SIEM solution.

People who want to use the product must consider the future predictability and decide whether they need a single EC2 instance or a Load Balancing or Auto Scaling infrastructure deployment and deploy accordingly.

Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

We're an Amazon partner.

I'm not sure which version of the solution I'm on.

If a new user wants to use Amazon EC2 for their professional work or their deployments, then they need to think about the cost. The cost of the cloud is a bit higher compared to other things. They need to also consider the settings and functionality in Amazon EC2. They really need to look at their use case and scenario. However, it is something worth trying for testing purposes.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. It's made out life easier. We don't have to worry about scalability or maintenance any longer. It also offers good load balancing and other kinds of features.

For small startups it makes perfect sense. For large organizations with R&D team/budget, it may make sense. For medium-size companies, where they just need solutions built quickly, I am not convinced about AWS at the moment. Looks promising, but it's a very new platform, with issues that come with a new platform.

You have to consider some factors, like scalability of the services offered by your company. If you need to be online 24/7, then you need a powerful and reliable infrastructure.

Our company, Drivver, uses a wide range of services offered by Amazon AWS, from computational instances to artificial intelligence services, so we need a cohesive and concentrated infrastructure in a single IaaS provider.

Take note of usage costs for all related services being used. For example, running an EC2 instance with vendor software may require paying for EBS volumes, Elastic IPs, Snapshots, and other software licenses. Enable Billing notifications to be alerted whenever costs exceed a certain threshold. Lockdown instances to only provide access via tightly controlled security groups. Use public key authentication, whenever possible, and restrict direct access to superuser accounts.

EC2 is an excellent IaaS service enabling quick deployment of applications.
