Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling Room for Improvement
There is room for improvement in the scalability.
View full review »Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling can provide more discounts when using the machines the solution uses.
View full review »The spinning up in the solution can be much faster. There are other solutions you can depend on if you cannot even wait for seconds for Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling to spin up.
The solution should be available with certain Microsoft products like an inbuilt MS Word or Office in EC2 since there are use cases where an application needs to access MS Excel to prepare or download a report.
The product should have a faster scalability option.

The launch configuration feature doesn't work properly. It needs to improve the load configuration feature along with launch templates. The tool needs to tag feature as well.
View full review »We have found that the sizing in Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling is far off. For example, we will see some at one terabyte and the other one is two terabytes. There is nothing between one and two terabytes. Sometimes it's a struggle if I need one and a half, I still am supposed to pay for two. There are five terabytes, six terabytes, and 12 terabytes, and if I need something at eight or nine, I'm still paying 30 to 40 percent more by taking the one which is 12 terabytes. Microsoft Azure does similar sizes but the gap can be more, such as six terabytes, and the next one is 12 terabytes.
View full review »The solution's pricing is expensive. You pay based on how much you use it, like paying for the time or hours you use the service. There's no need to buy hardware separately.
View full review »The tool must provide proper guidelines to troubleshoot connectivity issues. It must also improve AMI creation.
The product should improve vertical scaling features. It should support scaling inside the nodes. It requires the capacity to scale microservices in other nodes.
View full review »Automation is very hard.
View full review »The existing instance should not be terminated during scale in and scale out. The product does not explain why a particular instance is terminated. There is no option to check the log either.
I'd like to see more integration with products like Ansible and other platforms.
There is room for improvement in the pricing model.
View full review »If your EC2 instance doesn't boot up, you're in the dark about what's happening. It would be amazing if you could get a view of the console to see the status. There's something called the AWS Console, which is a web portal. I would like to see a virtual screen of an instance that hasn't started properly, so I can see where it crashed.

As we are transitioning to managing containerized applications, the solution could improve by adding more managed container services as a feature in the solution.
View full review »What could be improved in Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling is its fees. We are looking to have some discounts on billing.
Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling’s filtering features need improvement. The support to manage the processes could be better. Whenever the product stops working, we have to change the settings and require to find the root cause of the issues. These instance logs should be managed by AWS itself.

The product's great, but the pricing could be improved.
View full review »There should be an AWS instance in South Africa, where the latency would be even lower. It might happen soon since AWS has recently opened more data centres in Nigeria. AWS may extend its reach to South Africa, and offer hosted CLI servers there. Most of the problems with AWS are not to do with the solution itself but with configuration. It is something on design, more or less.

I would like to see a feature included that has the capability to clone when an instance is being terminated.
We have a few instances with the internal firewall. If for example, I am going to run Linux, and the firewall is open, sometimes it becomes difficult to debug the issue. Also, when you connect from another device, and if the internal IP address table is not deleted, the firewall will be enabled there.
There is no clear understanding of where the issue is. If you connect externally, you have to install SFTP.
I would like debugging capabilities included.
View full review »It should work for the cloud, cloud monitoring features, and DevOps processes. It should automatically enable features for downscaling and upscaling.
Apart from this, it also needs to increase its performance both speed-wise and cost-wise.

The price could always be a bit better.
On the ECs, the T2 microservice is the lowest tier. That particular tier could be a little better than what they're offering currently. You cannot do anything at all on that T2 micro. It's a useless tier to have introduced, as you can't do anything at all. You would be able to log in and log off and do some simple features which are already available on that operating system. Yet you cannot install anything. You cannot do anything at all.

There should be fewer inputs required that include mandatory details for configuration. It will help someone with less technical knowledge easily set up the system.

Ask set of questions like expected number of users, redundancy, up time per day and etc when creating a new instance. This would help the user to choose the right EC2 configurations.

From a usage perspective, it runs well, although there may be a use case where it will break that I have not yet come across.
