Amazon Elastic Container Service Valuable Features

Implementing the product has helped me monitor the parameters. I utilize tools like CloudWatch and AWS systems to track these parameters. If any issues arise, I alert our developer team to address and resolve them. The product helps to have a global file system. Also, it helps in data replication from region to region.

Scalability and availability are the most valuable features of Amazon Elastic Container Service. It removes a lot of work from our infrastructure team to ensure that the structure is available when we have a pick, for example, of the utilization from our clients. In case of problems, we also have the recycling of the services that are conducted and managed by the AWS environment.

Amazon Elastic Container Service is more stable. We didn't do a stress test on the solution, but I could say it cost much less as compared to EC2. We would have needed three or four EC2 instances for the same application, but we could do it on a single incident EC2 container.

Amazon EC2 Container Service offers great flexibility with a wide range of options, allowing you to choose powerful, smaller, bigger, faster, secure, or dedicated machines based on your needs. We have no concerns about EC2 containers, and the only potential downside is if you move your data center to AWS without leveraging advanced features like serverless or automatic scaling, it might be more expensive. The key is to optimize and make use of all the cloud features for cost efficiency and improved performance.

The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that it is very easy to set up. The solution is not that hard to get around for beginners. The solution's setup phase is good, even though you may not have so much knowledge of the platform.

First and foremost, my company uses AWS Fargate, which is easy to handle considering that it is taken care of by AWS, especially in areas like troubleshooting. Triggering a deployment manually is very simple with Amazon Elastic Container Service since, in our company, we have to go to the particular service, update the service manually, and check the box called force a new deployment, which would trigger a deployment on all the services. Even if the deployment has to be done manually, it is not a tedious task as it is easy. The product has a concept called task definition, which makes it easy to handle environment variables.

We primarily employ the Linux platform in terms of architecture. It utilizes its database, MySQL. Additionally, for CI/CD processes, we rely on Amazon CodeBuild. Furthermore, we use Amazon S3 storage to store specific static files. Currently, the system is running smoothly, and we don't actively perform any maintenance tasks as everything is automated. The most valuable feature is the volume size they offer. Where I'm from, having a lot of storage is a problem, and the cloud provides you that much more. You could set a volume of maybe 20 gigabytes. If you use the right AMI ID, you get it at no extra cost. You just have to be very diligent when you're setting it up.

Another thing I love is the variety of AMI IDs that are out there, from Ubuntu to Amazon Linux to Mac and so on. There are so many AMI IDs that can service whatever problem the client has.

EC2 is an initial level with a nominal cost. As a customer, we need to approach an EC2 tool. Additionally, other instances are available at slightly higher costs. Hence, once the business is established and running smoothly, we can upgrade to another instance.

We use the EC2 for testing purposes or as a starting point.

Amazon ECS allows users to deploy and manage container applications like microservices or web applications on Amazon clusters. It's easy to install and designed for AWS targets, serving as a serverless container platform. It offers features such as automatic scanning, load balancing, and service discovery to help users manage their container applications.

Amazon ECS comprises components like task definition, which acts as a blueprint for applications, specifying details like the Docker image, CPU, and memory resources. Containers are lightweight, portable executable packages containing everything needed to run an application or service. It defines how containers should be managed, ensuring the desired number of tasks are running and automatically scaling based on demand.

The best thing about Amazon ECS is that it's a fully managed service. It offers scalability, high availability, cost-effective flexibility, and integration with other AWS services. Additionally, it provides some security features.

Performance is our top priority. So, if we need to deploy on a high-specification machine, we can choose it from the software. If we just need a low-specification one, we can just choose it based on the requirement handling software configuration.

The product's most valuable feature is service discovery functionality. It is an excellent feature impacting cost reduction. It facilitates the seamless connection of backend services to the front end, utilizing local domains. Additionally, the integration of with Atmos, another service management tool by AWS, enhances its functionality. It shows the impactful configuration provided by the AWS team.

The security is good with 24/7 availability along with location. The cloud services are readily available. For example, if all three or four servers hosted in the cloud fail at once, the service will be transferred to other machines. This is one of the things that makes me most likely to use this cloud service.

For me, the best feature of ECS is Fargate because I don't have to manage anything. Instead, everything is managed by AWS and all I have to do, in essence, is configure my containers and deploy them.

That said, whether this feature is appropriate for everyone depends on the sensitivity of your data. I was able to make good use of Fargate since I do not have especially sensitive data running on the containers.

The production environment is highly available, which nowadays is a requirement for all of the big companies. There is a 99% uptime with this Amazon ECS.

This is a fully-managed product and we don't have to be concerned with problems related to the underlying hardware or configuration management.

They handle the backup process quite well. They automatically encapsulate it, including container backups, without relying heavily on the client's involvement. This is a significant advantage compared to other providers where clients often need to manage the process more independently. It's a feature that I find suitable and beneficial.

Its most valuable feature is the ability to work with Docker images. We just have to give it a Docker image and run some parameters. It keeps the process going for us. It's been great. We don't have to worry about where and how it gets deployed. We just know that it's going to run and we can contact it at a particular address. It integrates perfectly with AWS's service mapping feature and allows one ECS container to contact any other ECS container using a service name. It's almost like an internal DNS thing. If we want to expose it to the internet, we just put a load balancer. It passes requests from the load balancer to the relative ECS services. It also helps for scaling–we just have to add one in a new container. That's pretty cool.

The most valuable feature of the tool is its ease of usage. We spin off new servers and host our applications on those servers. The best thing I like about the product is hosting. It is super easy. Features for creating a server and hosting it is all builtin within the solution. I don't have to build a backup service. It is already available. I don't have to build a database as well. It is already built. I can just use any existing DB and then connect it directly to the DB instances and use it. Everything is ready to use.

We’ve been hosting our production application on the product. The most important criterion for us is downtime. In seven years, we have not faced a single second of downtime. It is the greatest thing. We have had zero downtime in the last seven years. Nothing can be better than that.
