It's an easy cost effective option but support comes from the community.

What is most valuable?

  • Source and configuration management
  • Implemented almost 10 hooks and integration with JIRA
  • Written custom Hook scripts
  • I did multiple migration from different tools

How has it helped my organization?

  • This is easy to use and very helpful to manage data
  • I used to evaluate the tools to understand the tool architecture
  • Installed entire tool setup into SVN repository and analyse the changes based on different actions in the tool (i.e How vectorCast works?, when we change some setting then in which file do those changes go)

What needs improvement?

It's easy, cost effective but not a enterprise tool therefore the community has to work with that direction.

For how long have I used the solution?

1 year, deployed

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

No

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Yes, lot of issues come up

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Yes

How are customer service and technical support?

Customer Service:

5/10, the community helps a lot.

Technical Support:

5/10, the community helps a lot.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

No

How was the initial setup?

Straightforward

What about the implementation team?

Installed on my own

What was our ROI?

As an open source solution it's very effective, will be very useful for individual and for small teams.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Opensource tool, only have to bear development and maintenance costs.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Yes, other standard SCM tools.

What other advice do I have?

Teams may use this tool for following activities:

1. Can be used in any organization for managing documents

2. Can be used by individuals for verifying the changes in the local copy, no need to install a dedicated server

3. Can be used to explore any tool functionality

4. Can be used for SCM as it's designed for.
