We were leveraging more primitive solutions leveraging NetFlow with Cisco monitoring tools and whatnot, but we found they weren't adequate for our purposes. AppNeta was recommended to me by a large Canadian bank and when I saw it, I realized it was quite good.

The only tool that I saw that I didn't introduce AppNeta to is when I used OptiNet but they're very expensive. Their software is north of $150,000, and normally, you need their people to come and operate it, and they're about 18 to $20,000 per seat when they bring in their consultants. Your portfolio has to be quite large to justify that expense. AppNeta is more cost-effective for small or large businesses in that space.

We looked into a tool from SolarWinds. They had similar functionality, but it was pretty slow. There was one more called ThousandEyes. We did some discussions around that, but AppNeta came as a quick winner. 

The visibility that AppNeta provides into end-user performance is good. It has everything that's required.

We didn't evaluate other options because we already had a solution, and this solution was chosen by a different part of the organization. So, it just made sense.

My company considered ThousandEyes against AppNeta by Broadcom because one of our customers suggested it to our company.

The main competitor of AppNeta in our region, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and South Africa, is Cisco ThousandEyes. With AppNeta we can provide better application performance metrics and better SD-WAN-related network performance.
