USM Anywhere Scalability

I would rate the scalability of USM Anywhere an eight out of ten. We are a smaller company and about a dozen people use the solution. It scales for us and we never fill out the data allocation we paid for.
View full review »Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.
View full review »We were a small organization of 250 people when we started with maybe 150 machines out there server-wise. We grew to about 1,500 employees through the acquisition of four or five different businesses, so it was effortless to scale.
You need to add more licenses and data for law collection. Other than that, it was easy to work with from that perspective, and the AlienVault salespeople are accommodating.

It is scalable. It was a large deployment. We had more than 1,000 employees, but it was only used by the information security team to monitor the security events and logs. We had 18 users, but we had integrated more than 250 servers and network devices with it.
View full review »We have tried to scale it with a partner, but one of the limitations is that we do not want to scale it if the on-premises is coming to the end of life. We have to manage our budget to ensure the business does not fail. In terms of assets, we have about 100 assets, and it is not difficult to maintain.

The scalability of AT&T AlienVault USM is good.
We have five IT administrators that use it. We plan to increase the usage in the future.
View full review »It's a cloud-based solution so it's easy to scale.
View full review »I rate AlienVault USM eight out of 10 for scalability.
View full review »The solution is cloud-based and hybrid. A server is put into a customer's environment to collect information and send it to the cloud. Both the server installed in the customer's environment and the cloud solution are scalable. The solution has rapid elasticity and all the check marks a cloud-based solution needs to scale. It is definitely scalable.
There are currently 19 users in our company. I think over time we have plans to increase our usage of this solution, but as an MSP, we have clients with different requirements or needs, so we might pick a different solution because it's a better fit.

It is cloud-based, so it is very scalable. It really depends on how many devices they have in their environment. Our customers are more mid-sized companies, so it fits what we need.
We don't have a lot of clients using this SIEM. Usually, a client is interested in something like this to help them with their auditing. So, we don't have a lot of customers using it right now. Probably in the near future, its usage will be increased in terms of the customers requesting it from a security standpoint.
View full review »No, not yet. We are growing at a rapid pace and eventually will need more sensors, but I believe that will be a painless upgrade.

It has great scale. We have brought it into several publicly traded global organizations, with thousands of users. The users are anything from a CCO down to a network administrator.
For a large deployment like that, the number of our staff required depends on a few things but, generally, it would take one to three people. It also requires about three people for maintenance. Their roles would likely be anyone who is leading or managing an InfoSec team.

It is pretty scalable for small/medium businesses. It starts to fade at enterprise. It is possible, but you will definitely run into limitations.

We have had no issues with scalability at all. It's been seamless. We have only three or four users on our DevOps team, but we're getting information from all over. Of course, many downstream people benefit from the work that we do, but only about four people actually log in and use it.

Scales well, no on-prem requirement other than 1 sensor per network and these are cost-effective. AlienVault handles the performance and scalability for you for the backend.
View full review »We have been adding more servers, and it has been working. We have run out of storage space once or twice, so we had to check and choose which logs that we needed to minimize this problem.

The only issue I have run into with scalability is the 1TB limit for raw log storage. When you collect as many logs as I do you need additional space to keep logs for compliance.

AT&T AlienVault USM is scalable and is based on the tiers offered. The tiers are from 250GB to 15 TB and more. This is the monthly log ingestion storage and is scalable to the next tier if more devices are added. This is a subscription model that supports 15 days, 30 days, and 90 days of online storage with little difference in pricing. The beauty of the solution is that they offer unlimited cold storage post the online storage duration. That can be retrieved within a day's time.
View full review »AT&T AlienVault USM is a scalable solution, especially because we have the option to use more sensors, and we have an average scale of log space for log rotation.

The solution is quite easy to scale. You just need to install the standard solution. You don't have to change the whole installation. In the case of the cloud deployment version, you only need to add sensors. In either case, you need to have the correct licenses, however, it's quite simple to accomplish.

It is easy to scale. It comes with all features, as opposed to separate individual modules. To my knowledge, you can scale it for your organization as and when there is a requirement or the organization grows. So, in terms of scalability, there is no problem. After you get it up and running, as the organization grows, the engines will be able to pick up that information.
It is really good for medium and large companies, but it can also be used for small organizations. Instead of deploying it to a small organization, you could provide a service where it is not on the customer site, and you basically link into your nodes for small customers. So, you install it for medium and large customers, and for small customers, you install it on your premise, and then you sell the individual features that they may request.
The solution doesn't scale well if you are talking about enterprises using it. However, for our purposes, we've never had an issue with this. Larger companies might. We do intend to continue to use the solution and potentially increase usage.

It scales reasonably well. There is a scalability plan for it. There is a way to add additional collection components, what they call Sensors, and then scale up the central platform. At this point, I don't believe it will scale to the very high-end. It is not a large, global enterprise-type product. It's more of a small-enterprise-and-below product.

View full review »No scalability issues as the product is highly scalable. You have to take care of what you want to integrate and think of use-cases instead of global log collection. In our opinion this is the key of success as you will scale your infrastructure with what you really need.
View full review »Yes. Upgrading the network cards (from 1GB to 10GB) was not “supported” on the appliance, so we had to purchase a second one as a sensor. The secondary appliance with the 10GBs NICs is the same as the primary appliance, so this was disappointing.

Scalability in a cloud solution is tied to costs. With any cloud solution, the more data you have and the larger your company, the higher the price point. I wouldn't say that scaling is easy, but it is standard.
