Scalable with an easy initial setup but technical support is terrible

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution on the VPN for protection purposes. We utilize its antivirus capabilities as well.

Pros and Cons

  • "The initial setup is a breeze."
  • "When it comes to dealing with updates, there are often bugs on the solution. They should do a lot more testing before they release new versions."

What other advice do I have?

We're using the latest version of the solution. I would recommend the solution. It doesn't take too many people to set it up or maintain it, like, for example, Cisco, which is a bit more complex and difficult. I would rate the solution seven out of ten, and that's mostly due to the fact that their support is so awful right now. If their support was better and more reliable, I would rate them much higher.

Good encryption detection, good administration capabilities, and one of the best on the market overall

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for LAN connections.

Pros and Cons

  • "In terms of administration, it's perfect."
  • "The interface needs to be updated and simplified."

What other advice do I have?

We used to be on the cloud, but we phased it out more than a year ago. I'd recommend the solution. It's one of the best on the market. It's great for financial services institutions. Security is important because of the type of companies that are typically dealing with it. I'd advise that users use it within a firewall, to create a double layer of protection or something similar. I'd rate the solution eight out of ten, especially when comparing it to other solutions.

Easy to configure with an easy initial setup and good scalability

Pros and Cons

  • "FortiGate as a product is very easy to configure."
  • "Technical support could be better. Some competitors have much more responsive support teams."

What other advice do I have?

We work with a lot of manufacturers of firewalls. It's normally Fortinet, however, we also work with Cisco, Palo Alto, and Sophos. My company works with Barracuda as well. To be honest, I am not a specialist with Barracuda. I normally don't work with that. That said, typically, when we work with clients, one of the first solutions we will suggest will be Fortinet. We do normally also recommend Cisco first, as well, due to the fact we are Cisco partners. We're also partners with Fortinet. We have a deal with Palo Alto and our security center recommends Barracuda because of their other security…

Quite stable with good security and holds its own against other products in terms of functionality

Pros and Cons

  • "The security is good. It's as effective as anything else on the market."
  • "The solution requires a more interactive dashboard. That would make it easier than playing with configurations the way we have to now."

What other advice do I have?

I haven't worked too closely with the solution, so I don't understand its full capacity. We have an entire Huawei architecture center. We do have equipment on the firewall side, run by Huawei, however, we haven't upgraded so far, we're just doing it to run parallel assistance with Cisco. We just need support from Huawei but we have not paid for the support yet, and we're lacking in that space. For that reason, we're trying to run another Cisco solution. Due to the fact we are a government organization, we need to only use an on-premise solution, although we are planning to integrate into the…

Handles monitoring, collection, analysis, and reporting of data in our HQ and branches

What is our primary use case?

We are using the SN200 series in our branches, and the SN700 in our HQ. This solution is used for our daily network monitoring and makes our data highly available. Our deployment is an on-premises solution.

Pros and Cons

  • "Our organization's main concern is stability, and this is a stable solution."
  • "This solution has a big problem with web filtering and it needs to be improved."

What other advice do I have?

If more videos on YouTube, as well as other media, were created then this product would be used more widely. For anybody who is implementing this solution, my advice is that if you have a complex network of more than five hundred, then you should have the Management Control Center and the Livebox software for reporting. The stability of this product is why we are making it our main solution. My only headache is web filtering functionality. I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.
