Bizagi Initial Setup

Sebastian - PeerSpot reviewer
Manager at a tech services company with 10,001+ employees

I wasn't involved in the initial deployment; I came in later in the development process.

The solution requires periodic maintenance; we check that the database is healthy, and so on. This is carried out by about three staff members, a DVA, a QA, and a developer.

Previously, we were using the on-premise solution. Our company has bought some licenses. So, we are using the cloud solution too. The initial setup was easy.

There wasn't an official deployment of Bizagi, but it eventually spread because of the ease of installation and of use. Everybody started using it. That's one of the benefits of Bizagi being free. It allows people to start using it and get interested in going further with it. That's a very good aspect of Bizagi.

Maintenance-wise, it's very light, basically non-existent. But if we were to go for the paid version, to go further in terms of automation and live processes and simulation, I don't know what the maintenance would be like. But with the modeler, there are no worries. We have six or seven users right now.

The deployment is simple. There are two options, a one-click deployment and an advanced deployment. I always use the one-click deployment, which uses a wizard and Bizagi does all the versioning.

Our whole company has access to Bizagi. We integrate it with Active Directory, so they use the same login and password to log in to Bizagi.

With the advanced option, it's really hard to control, because developers have to build a package before the deployment. There are many more options to deploy, but you have to dedicate a lot more work to it. All the controls and versioning have to be done by developers.

Other than just a space check and IT infrastructure, Bizagi doesn't require much maintenance.

When I got to the university, they were using different tools. One of those was Bizagi. I wasn't there when they were analyzing whether to start with Bizagi.

It is a cloud solution. It is easy because we don't manage the infrastructure. We just have to configure the environment. It was easy even in the on-premise version.

I handle the test deployments, but production is a different area. A user in the company does the deployment.

The initial setup is very straightforward, it took me maybe four or five minutes. The product doesn't require maintenance. They update every new version as it appears. Sometimes there is an issue because the program comes out in English first, and it can take two or three weeks before the Spanish version comes out. I generally wait two or three weeks until they bring out the Spanish version and that's when I download it.

The initial setup was not too difficult. Though, the process during registration was not 100% clear, so this required a bit more time than I was expecting. All-in-all the process took ten to fifteen minutes.

I rate the ease of setup a seven out of ten. We needed internet connectivity to access the product. It was one of the major disadvantages of the tool. The deployment took us minutes. It was fairly easy.

I'm not sure how many staff members you need for deployment and maintenance.

Process Methodology Specialist at a retailer with 10,001+ employees

The initial setup was very easy. If you use only the client, it's very easy. We have a license agreement with Bizagi and our organization. So we have created our own internal modules so that we order the Bizagi model or from our IT support. And they push it out to our laptops, and to our computers.

It's the same thing with the updates. We push that out all the time. From a user perspective, it's a very nice and easy setup. I know that there were some problems with the connection and with setting up the sign-on in the right way, however, it works. I can't tell you whether the problem was because of our setup and our configuration of our side or what it was, however, it took a week or two before it was completely resolved. Now it's no longer an issue.

We only need one person to handle the maintenance. We have a set up for our internal tools with a product that the product owner owns several tools and he has engineers working with those tools. I know that we have one specialist in Bizagi, and they handle any maintenance issues on our behalf. That said, he's not working full-time with Bizagi either. It's probably 25-30% of his allotted time.

The complexity of the initial set up depends on the competencies of the people.

We do development in the healthcare industry, so there is a complexity with the decisions of who sees it first. There are a lot of holes in competencies.

It's easy to set up. I think it took less than an hour to deploy. I don't remember exactly, but I think that it was less than one hour.

I proposed Bizagi to my team because I'm a business process management consultant. My entire team, which is more than ten people, all installed and set up Bizagi on their computers.

As a process management consultant for different organizations, some of them have more users. Currently, we are working with an organization of over 100 people and we recommended Bizagi to them.
