Bizagi Room for Improvement

The solution could be improved in the following ways:

  • From a developer's point of view, an improvement in the layout would make the UI better.
  • The way we interact with the data model could be improved.
  • Better definitions for Performers would be a welcome addition.
  • The ability to use proper code like C# or JS would be good because they currently have a hybrid type of code similar to JS.

In business process mapping, you have pools and dark pools. I don't see that Bizagi differentiates between a regular pool and a dark pool.

Another area for improvement would be printing. It's just a small nuance to me, but if I've drawn a process that would fit on an 11 by 17 ledger page, but I really want it on a letter-size page, it doesn't show me how to shrink it down. Even if I say, "Go down to one page," it still shows me that I've got two pages. I don't know if it's a bug or if I might need more training.

Where I worked before I could plot things. Now, I can only work with ledger, as large as eight and a half by 14. Sometimes, when you draw a business process, it doesn't really fit on a legal or letter-size page. But it should at least allow me to shrink it enough to fit on a letter-size page. If they had a little bit more training on printing and presentation, that would be good.

In general, I like Bizagi's integrations but one thing that I don't like very much is related to integration: we have to develop some connectors. On the one hand, it's good that they allow us to do that. For instance, I would need a connector that connects to a REST service and that uses client ID in secret. On the other hand, Bizagi doesn't provide that. They provide the means to develop a connector and use it, but they should implement this because REST services are among the most used protocols for web services.

For instance, if an improvement to a process needs a REST service integration, it's bad for us because we have to go to .NET and Visual Studio to develop a DLL integration because Bizagi doesn't have a native REST service. We have to connect using walt. We then have to connect the DLL to Bizagi. That ability should be native.

Also, the graphics could be improved a lot. Bizagi should not be a full BI system, but it should offer some options like a BI. It lacks nice graphics options. The reports have some limitations as well, but the graphics are worse.

Some of the things we know, but with some of the things, we are having difficulties.

I would like to see simulation as a free feature again. In version 3.3 it was free, but in 4.0 it isn't.

I also want more space to write in the activities and comments.

A good feature would be if the solution showed the time to validate when there is an error in the process, and if there is no connection between activities, for that to notify us in red.

I'm not really satisfied with the reporting aspect. It's not really nice. It's a bunch of data that isn't really organized for reporting. The design just isn't that great. The report should be concise and nicer looking - something you'd be proud to show to third parties.

I would be happy if I could use the studio and engine side. It has been redesigned. However, if I could use it for two to three months of intensive work, I'd have better relevant feedback.

I'd also like the capability to double click on the sub-process to access the corresponding tab directly instead of clicking on the right button. There needs to be a shortcut. Maybe there need to be more properties on each activity and each task.

Bizagi doesn't have integrations with other solutions, such as ERP systems. In the industry and your company, you have a lot of systems with which you need to integrate, but Bizagi doesn't have such integrations, which makes it very difficult.

Its scalability can also be improved. It is good for a startup, but when you need something more complex, it is not good.

The solution has issues when it comes to exporting in formats other than PDF, which is what I used to do. It's difficult sometimes to connect with a solution like Visio. For example, if I try to import, it's difficult because they don't keep the same pattern and process. The tools have been moved so I never connect Visio and Bizagi. The formats should be simplified, in my opinion. I'd like to be able to develop collaborative work but it's difficult to see how I could do this with Bizagi. Exporting is quite difficult and it's also impossible to attach documents. The design doesn't support this and it would be helpful if they could add this feature.

Bizagi has been aggressively adding features to maintain its market-leading position, however, in some cases, this has impacted the stability of certain product builds. The next step for the solution is when it comes to starting to do a little bit more deep modeling. When you start working with information modeling, et cetera, here is no really good solution for the data modeling and information modeling. You have the BPM and data albeit in data storage that they support very well. However, it's not quite enough. You can write in your information that there, but you don't have a direct connection or the easy connection to an easy to use modeling tool or modeling set up.

The speed of this solution needs to be improved.

Bizagi needs a way to define categories such as process groups like the APQC framework, PCF, and handle the processes within it. The APQC Institute specifies the PCF, which has requirements for quality assurance and there are many processes that are categorized by it. If the software had a feature to manage all of these processes in a hierarchical structure then it would be a very good feature. It is not something that is available in any modeler.

The free version could be better. Some of the templates and all the functionalities aren't available in the free version. I've been trying to check some maps, for example, organizational maps or a model on organization hierarchy. Apparently, there seems to be no template. You have to create your own. I am not sure if there are templates, but I've not really seen any. I think that there's room for improvement.

They can also improve their documentation, more precisely, their coding of the maps. It has a unique way of making sub-processes, but I think the other school of thought is that if you have a process and within the process, you have a sub-process. They should improve how you code to link a sub-process within a process.

I think this coding is important. If you want to go beyond visual documentation to even narration, or if you want to include narration and map it onto the visual maps, you should be able to do it.

Its performance needs to be improved. The main thing is that it is limited, especially in terms of the response times. When the processes become a bit large, it is very awkward to work with the Bizagi modeler.

When you have already modeled but start to rearrange, it is quite a bit of an effort to change the stuff. When you rearrange lanes or have new structures, it goes rather squiggly up and down and so on, which could be improved. The visual outputs of the DIREPs of the process models are pixelated and have a bad image quality. It is a PNG or JPEG, and you cannot export it as a PDF. When you have rather large processes, you should be able to arrange them hierarchically. Currently, it is not supported. If you use sub-processes and inflate a process, suddenly the arrangement is totally different, and although you know the process, you have to look where is it now. You need a good understanding of the levels of your processes before you start in Bizagi.

It can have automatic support for optimal presentation. In BPM, you should have it from the top left to the bottom right. However, in most cases, people don't know how they should arrange it. Therefore, it would be nice to have a suggestion system for different arrangements to be able to better present the process.

They have three or four tools for the entire SQL. They have mobility and process aging. This is good. But for the small business, this is very bad because it is still fragmented. The licensing policy should be more flexible and small company oriented. In micro-small companies, there should only be one or two. That's not the problem. Maybe it is too flexible, there are so many pieces that you need to put together.

When you have a small business, it can be a little complicated, not so easy.

  1. Previously I rated the product with 10 but now i am down grading it to 8.
  2. The system does not work well in Windows 8 (Full version) on tablet PCs. I had raised this issue and was told that it will not display the diagrams effectively due to the display drivers. Urgent attention is required as we do not carry laptops. Besides, the use of tablets has become very pervasive these days. This one was raised long ago and not addressed but i will drop it as tablet PCs have disappeared.
  3. The ability to automatically re-size the elements based on the element text descriptions. This has not been done. This one has become a pain in the neck.
  4. The text for notations always get misaligned and tangled with flow lines. This is especially worse when you want type "Yes" or "No" on the flow lines.
  5. Frequently the alignment of elements gets disorganized when a group is added. Worse is when a group is deleted it does not give us the option to choose if we want to delete the elements too but, instead, deletes them anyway. I use this feature to defines module packages for my IT Developers. Sigh, number of times i had to redo to get rid of the group.
  6. The most irritating part is the licensing of the logo feature. When i deinstall on one PC and then reinstall in the same (after a hard disk crash) PC the license cannot be applied again and the have to run to the techies to reset things. They dont seem friendly either. They should provide a feature to deactivate the license and activate it again, just like McAfee and Blumentals.
  7. In the recent version, i just found out that export/Import from Visio requires the installed version of Visio software. Now how many of us have Visio on our PCs? Which would be lying idle most of the time. They need to fix this one urgently.
  8. I use the graph artifact extensively but I am hoping this will be improved to include connectors points, similar to annotations. Would really love that.

Their multi-production is a little complicated, despite the fact that they now have Microdeployment. They have big versioning and small versioning, with the small one being the one that doesn't work very well. That is where I think it could be improved.

The gateway through which it connects with other vendors, specifically RPA vendors, is one aspect that could be improved.

There's a lot of analytics going on, and everything revolves around data. I believe it could be improved or have a way to improve the reporting or create a dashboard so that you can make decisions right there without having to rely on a third-party modeler. Also, improve the simulator that they have so that you can collect more data with the simulation tool.

In fact, when I made a simulation about the flow, I found a lot of errors and got many mistake messages. So I have to try again and re-connect. As I worked with the desktop version of the Bizagi modeler, I was not so comfortable. I prefer the web version because it's more mobile. So for my preferences, I wanted to add a BPMN notations extension. I couldn't do that with Bizagi. I wanted to add some notations for orders, invoices and allow adding some configuration to those notations. That is our vision for our platform. As it is a feature that we will definitely be adding to our platform that we are developing, I would rather see it in the product rather than creating it as a workaround.

As a developer, I would like to see some features and functionality that would allow us to add-in features to a marketplace or community. For example, BPM'Online has a marketplace. You can go get add-ons and plugins to process reports and buy or download functionality and put it on the BPM'Online and do business sharing of any profit with products for sale. In the market, 80% goes to the developer and 20% goes to BPM'Online. It is a model that grows the community and functionality.

So I would also recommend having a marketplace similar to BPM'Online to be able to buy or build third-party functionality and community.

Some of the weaknesses of this solution are:

  • In the Bizagi Studio, the scripting and debugging tool is VERY weak.
  • It is difficult to drive ROI on types of processes involving complex business rules.
  • In our Best practices, we are now virtualizing almost all of the tables instead of using Bizagi MS-SQL Master files. This is because it is impossible to get control over Bizagi Master or Parameter tables.
  • All of the complex components are done using outside technologies (.NET or other) that are integrated into the BPM using service tasks (Rest/Soap).
  • There is lots of instability with V 11.1. We are suspecting configuration management problems on the Bizagi side.
