Broadcom DX Application Performance Management Previous Solutions
Broadcom DX APM is the first APM monitoring solution that was in place in our company. We have been using Broadcom APM from the start, but it was the old version of 10.7.
We were supposed to upgrade to DX APM by February or March 2023, but it was delayed due to some subcontractor issues and other challenges.
So, we are currently in the re-assessing stage.
View full review »When we made the decision, at the time there were no other vendors in this space. Periodically, we do a reassessment of the portfolio. Unfortunately, CA did not do well recently.
Actually, folks who originally were with Wiley Tech, their start-up companies have finally matured enough to the point where we can seriously consider them as alternatives.
View full review »We did not previously use a different solution. We just did a PoC.

We did not have a previous solution. This was brought in because we had a new app. The app was not stable, it wouldn't stay up.
We are currently doing a POC with AppDynamics.
View full review »I personally didn't use any other solution, but my company did use the IBM APM tool.
View full review »No, but we have retired similar solutions in favour of APM, e.g. Tivoli.

There was no application performance management solution prior to the introduction of CA APM. Thus, we are still in infancy from a culture perspective. Customers are still learning as they use it often as possible.

I have been here since 2010 and they have been using APM since. I really didn't have a APM solution, so this is the first time we've used an APM.

ESM Engineer at a tech company with 10,001+ employees
My experience has been mainly that an existing solution did not work as well, or doesn't scale as well, and so this one, CA APM, was looked at, evaluated, and decided. Some of them were above my pay grade. Once the decision was made, that's when I was involved.
View full review »In my current role, I came and the tool was already there. I was hired as a subject-matter expert on it, because I have had previous experience with it. I did not have to make that choice about changing solutions.
View full review »I was not working in APM when we brought it in, so I don’t know for sure if it replaced anything.
View full review »We had nothing in place previously.
View full review »We have multiple solutions, like CA APM, and Pinpoint.
View full review »We did not have any previous solutions.

I have always used CA APM.
View full review »We already had a competing solution. We weren't getting the value we needed out of it. We were still having problems. We couldn't find the actual root cause very easily with that solution, so we started evaluating others.
We looked at many others and this seemed to be the best fit for our organization.
Really, the most important criteria when selecting a vendor is value for dollar. As any business, we're looking for values and it's not just, "Is it better?" But, "Is it better enough to be worth the cost?" Or, if it's cheaper, that's also great.
For cloud monitoring, we had another tool and we had to switch because of the costs and features. Introscope has been running for a while.
View full review »No. Telecom clients (more than 3) were not using a solution similar to this one.
View full review »No, not for the APM part.
View full review »We previously used IBM Tivoli and BMC products.
View full review »There was nothing in place previously.
View full review »We have New Relic as well for a specific monitoring need.
View full review »The company has used a different solution previously, but I haven’t personally.
View full review »It was the only tool in 2006 to provide the transaction trace feature. As mentioned before, it transforms an application from a black box to a gray box, that's why we knew that we needed Introscope (now CA APM).

Solution Engineer at a tech company with 501-1,000 employees
Where I started with the company, we were seeing outages daily. No one could really track what the problem was at the time.
Since implementing this solution and having that information, the data to work off of definitely reduced that to basically nothing. It is custom code, so it is definitely a little difficult compared to some others, but it definitely helped us. For the most part, we run constantly without any issue at this point because of APM.
View full review »Yes, we used open source utilities. We could not scale the open source utilities to manage our enterprise applications.
View full review »We chose the CA APM solution several years ago for the set of features and the stability of the company behind the product.
View full review »I personally haven't used other solutions. I was hired here specifically because I have experience with Intrascope at my previous job and we had actually deployed it there as our first APM solution.
View full review »We were not previously using a different solution.
View full review »Previous to using this solution, we had a really large gap in our monitoring tools, and so it was just something that needed to be addressed, and CA APM was the right solution for us.

I have used AppDynamics in the past, and its customization is not as simple as that of CA APM.
View full review »This is the first time I am working with an APM solution.
View full review »I'm not a person who gets to make the investment decisions. I basically get to use whatever the company provides or makes available.
Some of the previous versions were available, but they were much more difficult to implement. The newer version takes a lot of that complexity out of it.
I'm more of an end user of the product, and it's much easier. Some of it is automatically implemented. That's what I like about it.

IT Administrator at a transportation company with 10,001+ employees
We used a different solution and we switched because this one was more stable and did not impact application response times.
View full review »It was a management decision five years ago as they wanted to work with CA. It was because we wanted to keep our IT management software under one umbrella. This was a high-level decision.
View full review »Previously, we worked with Dynatrace and AppDynamics. We changed because our organization decided to go with the enterprise licensing options that CA offers.
View full review »We used an in-house developed application before CA APM. Our monitoring needs had grown and the solution we previously used no longer could meet our needs.
View full review »We did not use another solution, although I know of other one. I think Introscope is a more complete solution.
View full review »Several customers were using others like IBM Tivoli or an HP solution, but they don't offer an easy way to quickly check the state of the monitored app. Also, they didn’t offer a good customer experience.
View full review »Other teams have their own products -- Splunk, NetFusion or NetQoS -- but we're slowly hoping to turn them over to CA.
View full review »We used when it was still Wiley Interscope. Then they were then bought by CA, so it was a natural progression into the CA product.
View full review »AppDynamics and Dynatrace are equally good solutions.
View full review »We did not use any other solution.

View full review »I have experience in AppDynamics, BMC, and HP APM. It all depends upon the client’s requirements. I chose this product as it was fulfilling all the stated requirements.
View full review »No, I haven't used any other APM Solution.
View full review »I had used several tools but for different projects.
View full review »Yes, I used a different company before, Dynatrace, who is a major APM player. I also used a bit of AppDynamics.
We switched because of efficiency and cost. I think CA APM is a very effective solution.
View full review »This was the first one.
View full review »I used logs to study applications' behaviour, but that requires a separate team to properly handle it. There was dependency on their workflow. Now, we don't require a separate team. Additionally, the CIO can see the reports on his mobile.
View full review »Professionally, I have worked only with CA solutions but I have tried different solutions in test environments.
View full review »We switched because the product we used before CA APM didn't show application/transaction performance.
View full review »It is the first APM suite that I have used.
View full review »We deployed at a customer site where they were using ITCAM. It was incorrectly implemented, was cumbersome to deploy, and was not that efficient in providing deep-dive diagnostics.
View full review »No previous solution was used.
View full review »We did not use any other solution previously.
View full review »Previously, we were using a different solution. The reason we switched was because CA APM fits better to our monitoring needs.

Ravi Suvvari

We used HPE Diagnostics earlier. But since the client already had an existing license of CA APM, he wanted to leverage the existing toolset rather than going for new tools.
View full review »We used a different solution in the past. We switched because of this solution's end-to-end analysis feature.
View full review »We selected CA APM as opposed to other solutions in the market because it has a solid install base and is notorious for integration with other products including monitoring platforms, service desk and ERPs. We had the challenge of promoting a radical change of posture of the IT organization from reactive to proactive. One of the biggest factors was that the impact was a heterogeneous IT environment!
View full review »We did not use any other solution.
View full review »There was no solution in place previously.
View full review »We switched to Introscope because of bad usability of our previous solution and its very restricted features. The price vs. service proportion was better on this product.
View full review »We had a presentation from CA and everybody from the product management side was impressed by it. We are still evaluating it.
We previously used a different solution, and we switched because of APM integration.
View full review »Only open source solutions.
