The scalability of the solution has been good. We implemented a couple of large POCs. We have some clients and colleagues that are running it at scale, with more than 5,000 endpoints with great success. We are pleased overall. Most of our clients are mid-cap or small enterprises.

I would say that it is a scalable solution considering a few cases, but for some cases, it may not look like a scalable solution. In general, It is a scalable solution.

My company's customers are mostly enterprise-sized businesses, and there are more than 50,000 users of the solution worldwide.

I rate Carbon Black CB Defense a six out of ten for scalability. Recently, an event was not loading because of some issue with the AWS site.

Our organization is completely deployed with Carbon Black CB Defense. Some machines are sometimes not supported by Carbon Black CB Defense. In such cases, we use some other tool.

I would say, not really. But we have a, how to say, our hands are tied down in terms of generating reports to understand or analyze the trend or anything of that sort. Because when you look at the EPO, you will be able to do certain trend analysis on the basis of the data that is already available in the database. But ,we can hardly take any kind of a report out of Carbon Black, so I think that should be something that should be more user-friendly. They are asking us to use API's, and not everybody is well-versed with API's or scripting.

They also do have a limitation on that, in terms of pulling out the raw data of events. The event generation is like a 1:10 ratio like I said. That detection is also on the same base. So if you have to pull out a report for an end-point count of, say, 35,000 to 40,000 endpoints, the events will be on the higher side. So, the limitation is set to 5,000, which is not realistic.

Medium to large companies will be selecting Carbon Black solutions mainly due to the fact that they needed this to better the security posture checks in the environment, typically in the more regulated environment. Regulatory, regulated environments or companies that are more security-centric will go for this type of product.

While it can scale, it only supports non-HA. Scalability is quite limited. You can only scale vertically - not horizontally.

The scalability is about the same between Carbon Black and Symantec. I don't know that we've actually tried to use them in an environment that was large enough to cause us any sort of issues, or even thought twice about scalability. Both of these products work quite well in extremely large environments.

One thing to consider with Carbon Black is you do have much more data. You can define many more policies that are more specific to groups. The management of that becomes more difficult as the environment gets larger. I don't think that necessarily is the case with Symantec. It might end up being a bit more time consuming to manage Carbon Black as it gets larger. In terms of these products' capabilities and the ability to support large environments all the way down to small ones, I don't think it matters.

The product can be scaled pretty high. We have about 3000 sensors deployed. However, it can go a lot higher than that. It depends on your internet connection for the reporting or the information, basically.

We have kind of a desktop security team that is about five individuals that administer the product part-time, and that can access the console. A couple of them are the ones that spend the most time in it.

We use the solution extensively and we may look at expanding the EDR  - stepping up to one of the other products and adding capabilities. Therefore, we're likely to increase usage in some form in the future.

The scalability is very good. It's pretty much unlimited at this point. A company can scale however much they like with no trouble.

We have over 500 licenses. The use cases are mostly for our servers and our workstation user roles are drafters, engineers.

We use the solution enterprise-wide. I'm not going to increase usage except maybe to increase the license count if servers or workstations go up.

I believe it is very scalable. In terms of its users, for the most part, there are only two of us using it. I am the IT administrator and primary user, and we have an IT support person who handles PCs and backs me up on servers. We are taking care of its deployment and maintenance.

We are looking at the possibility of expanding its usage in the future to include desktops.

Given the number of people that are using it, I would consider it as scalable without having specific details on the performance, on the central management, or the management points. I would say that, due to the behavior of the solution with the end-users, it's a good solution. It is scalable.

We didn't have any problems scaling this solution.

It did the job. It was great for Windows, but it had no Mac support and had nothing for Linux, which makes it hard.

We had 150 users in our organization. Their roles varied from CSF departments through to my C-suite.

HL
Vice President of Sales (previously Sales Engineer) at a computer software company with 11-50 employees

The scalability is pretty easy.

Their offer to add to a tenant or spin up a new tenant, given the client sizes is large enough, has been pretty easy management so far.

I'm a managed service provider, and within my organization we only have between 40 and 50 employees managing endpoints for several thousand. My perspective will be slightly different. So, even though we use it as a company, we use this for our clients as well.

100% of our staff is trained on the use of Carbon Black because from the technical perspective, we need to be able to handle that as technicians and engineers.

As far as our clients, they don't know the difference. They don't see issues, they don't have attacks.
