What is most valuable?

The application filters available with Sophos XG are brilliant. The sandboxing and the way the firewall or the UTM integrates with the installed endpoint antivirus clients… more»

How has it helped my organization?

I have a serious problem because our offices are scattered around the world in very remote areas. We cannot deploy proper branch office guides, active directory sites, and… more»

What needs improvement?

There was a big issue with the Cyberoam and with the SG units as well, i.e. the previous Sophos UTM model. With Sophos XG, you get the chance to block what sites operate… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We have the annual license for Sophos XG. It all depends on what you would like to have in the package that you are purchasing.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

I used Cyberoam previously, although I always used it as a UTM only. What made me move to Sophos is that they were acquired, i.e. they acquired Cyberoam to start with the… more»

What other advice do I have?

I recommend that everyone should have a proper understanding of new network requirements and then enjoy it. Sophos XG is definitely a good product. On a scale of 1 to 10… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I evaluated FortiGate but wasn't happy with it. I evaluated another group called WatchGuard. WatchGuard has good features in it, but it's for a smaller business scale than… more»

What is most valuable?

The policies that you can use with this equipment are valuable. This is very nice for us; it responded to our requirements for the application to go to the internet. So… more»

How has it helped my organization?

This solution improved our email service, with less presence on the internet blacklist.

What needs improvement?

The solution could be improved by creating or including in the product enforcement of some kind to deal with cybersecurity and all the new kinds of attacks we are dealing… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I cannot tell you the pricing, but we paid for three years. There aren't any other costs above the standard licensing and fess. We bought it, we use it.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We started with the Cisco PIX. The equipment was at the end of its life.

What other advice do I have?

If we're talking about value, in my opinion, the financial institutions are the companies that I see that can use this most. I like it because it's user-friendly. You can… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated Cisco ASA and FortiGate.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are the threat prevention and policy-based routing features.

What needs improvement?

I think they need to have a proper hardware version for a smaller enterprise. We had to go to a very high-end version which is very expensive. If we chose the lower-end version, it would not meet our goals. A middle-end is missing in its… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's a bit pricey.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We did previously have a different kind of a firewall. We used Check Point before. We also used NetScreen and Cisco. But in the end, we defined our standard and now use Palo Alto.

What other advice do I have?

Once you install it, you use it every day. You can't stop because it's a security feature and a precaution. Also, we are using it to do some local breakouts, so we use utilize the local internet to carry some business traffic, to ensure… more»

What is most valuable?

The Cisco security rules are very strict and very strong. I like the Cisco ASDM (Adaptive Security Device Manager), which is the configuration interface for the Cisco firewall.

What needs improvement?

When comparing this solution to other products, the Fortinet UTM bundle has some better features in their most receive product. For example, there are better configuration features, the Sandbox is better, and so is the web censoring. These… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing for Cisco products is higher than others, but Cisco is a very good, strong, and stable technology. If we compare Huawei or FortiGate or others then the prices are lower, but the higher Cisco price is acceptable because of the… more»

What other advice do I have?

This is the number one firewall product that I recommend. I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

This is my first recommendation for firewalls, and my second recommendation is Fortinet FortiGate.

What is most valuable?

Out of the features, I think the web filtering is most important here, and the SD-WAN solution.

What needs improvement?

Currently, if you make a rule in the firewall you have to add all of the IPs. If I'm working with an object for, say, an object group, where I put every single IP that I want into it, and then I apply it on a rule, it's a little bit easier to configure because you have a better overview of that. The… more»

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We previously used Cisco ASA. We switched because it was an all-in-one solution. With Cisco, we couldn't configure the ASA-1, so we needed special equipment. It became an expensive solution. Meraki is also expensive, but it's a little bit less expensive and it's easier to configure than Cisco ASA.

What other advice do I have?

As advice, I would say that you should look first through the community and see the different issues that people are running up against, so you're aware of what's going on. Meraki is very easy to configure. So if you want an easy to configure firewall, I think Meraki is a good solution for you. I… more»
