What is most valuable?

It has the typical features of a next-generation firewall. It can do application control, antivirus, content filtering, etc. And in terms of performance, the value for money of the model that we bought is sufficient for our size.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see more in terms of reporting tools and the threat analysis capabilities.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We had another box before and it wasn't a next-generation firewall. We needed to change to a next-generation firewall so we compared a few of the top players in the market and Palo Alto was the right one, in terms of the features that we… more»

What other advice do I have?

List your requirements, give them the proper weighting, and look at what future options are available if you stick with the solution. Then do your evaluation. And don't forget the vendor, the local support, their competency and their… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We called in proposals for different products, bigger players, like Check Point, Fortinet, Cisco. We set the criteria we need and had them make proposals. We found, based on the submissions, that Palo Alto seemed to be the one that had the… more»

What is most valuable?

As per the solution's blade design, there are many options. For example, you have to buy a UTM blade and an advanced malware blade, etc. If the blade license is there, we can configure from the firewall GUI. The net policy and routing are… more»

What needs improvement?

If you compare the GUI with the Palo Alto and Cisco, they're very easy. Check Point, due to its design, is a little bit complex. They should make the GUI easy to use so that anyone can understand it, like Fortinet's GUI. Many companies end… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Compared to Cisco Firepower Threat Defense, the solution is cheap. However, not as cheap as Fortinet or Palo Alto. If clients have smaller budgets, we would have to advise one of those instead.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

I am currently also working on Cisco ASA, Fortinet, and Palo Alto.

What other advice do I have?

There are two deployment model modes in Check Point. One is a gateway level and one is a no gateway all-in-one box solution. With the gateway level, only hardware will be there, all operating systems are stored in a VMware and if there are… more»

What is most valuable?

You can apply patterns to look for. That can be done for applications also. You can ask for a specific feature to become a pattern. If you were using Office 360 and had 2 ISPs, automatically using SD-WAN will allow you to switch over to the other link based on the criteria you can set yourself. You… more»

What needs improvement?

The solution is good, but they have poor marketing in Nigeria. They need to market their product better. They need to work on their support. Cisco has the best technical support. In comparison, Fortinet's support takes too long. If you are paying for SLAs, you should also get value from your SLAs… more»

What other advice do I have?

We are using the on-premises deployment model. We are an integrator, so we do integrations using Fortinet, Cisco, Sophos, and Palo Alto. If you're an SMB or a small enterprise, I would recommend Fortinet. I would advise users to make sure they are getting value for what they are paying for. I can… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We integrate solutions on the client's request. Most times I push on Fortinet, as it's a robust system. You can integrate your endpoint with Fortinet. You can integrate the cloud on-premises. Because the solution is so robust and offers excellent the features we tend to enjoy using FortiOS. Cisco is… more»

What is most valuable?

The performance and licensing model are the best features of the solution. They have a system which can collect all of the performance data, and they show it on a very nice dashboard. On top of that, It has an open API. It's well… more»

How has it helped my organization?

The solution has improved our organization by being flexible and offering excellent features. This is the highest model. It includes all the features of ADC, which is load balancing, and it includes a web application firewall, application… more»

What needs improvement?

It would be good to have some deeper security measures implemented. The solution should go even deeper on the firewall level.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing varies. There is always the license for the device or for the virtual machine, and then there is the support which can be yearly, or every two, three, four, or five years. When you count all the features that you are getting… more»

What other advice do I have?

We use the on-premises deployment model. Some companies have longterm relationships with some other vendors. The thing is, they don't often know A10 networks. It's more difficult to sell this solution, because of the experience and… more»

What is most valuable?

AWS has improved our agility to apply firewall rules. It has reduced the amount of time that it takes to apply firewall rules because everything is based in the cloud. It helps us to bring agility to… more»

How has it helped my organization?

We use it mostly for the firewall and its ability to work in AWS. That is why we like it.

What needs improvement?

We still need to understand what are the best practices which we need to implement. We also don't know how it will scale once we start putting more load on it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We found purchasing process the product on the AWS Marketplace to be very good. We used the AWS Marketplace because we were set to move to AWS. We rely on Amazon and their partners to process our… more»

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We were using a lot of Cisco firewalls before. We switched because we wanted what works best in the cloud.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend to try it out.
