I have never had any stability issues with it. It has been available 100% of the time that we have needed it.
View full review »The stability for our virtual machines is good if you follow the best practice and give it the reservations the virtual machines need, and you're making sure that you're following how many recommended devices are going to be authenticating to it. We don't have stability issues with ISE.

My impression of the stability of Cisco ISE is that we don't have an issue with it, it's pretty stable. Even when things went down system-wise, Cisco was able to help us figure out what was wrong. So from my experience, which is limited because I only have one year of experience with ISE, is that it's been pretty stable.

So far, I have no issues with the solution’s stability. My primary and secondary systems are working fine. I have the least to worry about. It has run smoothly for seven years.
View full review »The stability of the Cisco Identity Services Engine has continued to improve over time as the product has matured. Anytime you're dealing with something like a database product that has millions or hundreds of thousands of endpoints and entries in it, inevitably you're going to have performance creep over time. Because of the scale of the Cisco purpose-built UCS appliances, the SNS appliances that predominantly run identity services engine, we've seen an enormous advantage by staying up to date on the most current Cisco SNS appliances. We've also seen an enormous advantage by leveraging ISE in a hybrid capacity. So the ability to deploy PSMs on a hybrid cloud environment, on a public cloud environment, as either additional capacity or as a failover point for that on-premise install base is a really nice advantage to have.
View full review »It's been around for many years now. Since version three, stability-wise, it's been pretty reliable. We know the versions to avoid. We know the stable versions. Besides some upgrades and that type of thing, it's generally pretty solid.
View full review »It works like a champ until you try to upgrade it, and then it becomes risky and fragile. I don't know whether that is because of the complexity of the architecture. We have what I would call a twin database environment. Where we're trying to keep two copies, at a great distance from one another, synchronized. One misstep and there it goes.

When it comes to the stability of the product, for the most part, it is stable. But when it breaks, it breaks on a grand scale as well. And that's why, for us, most of the time, we don't always jump to the latest and the greatest when it comes to software updates because we wanna make sure that the software goes through our internal change control and make sure that a lot of bugs have been ironed out and straightened out before we update. But even then, we are still running into unforeseen bugs and unexpected situations. But I'd say, overall, it's relatively stable.

One thing with Cisco is that we haven't ever had issues with stability, and ISE lines right up with that. We're using the virtual appliance and we're using VMs. We haven't had any issues there, as long as you know the caveats that go along with their setup.
There have been no issues as far as performance or uptime.

Uptime is great. I don't have a complaint with ISE with uptime. It's been a rockstar. As far as I'm aware, we have probably had 95 percent uptime, or even 99 percent. Nothing is 100 percent. When there's an issue, it's usually not ISE.

I do not like the stability of Cisco ISE in the virtual environment. That might have been more of an underlying host issue rather than an ISE issue. But we've moved to hardware right now, and I wouldn't have looked back. The next place we're looking to explore is potentially in the cloud, but that's still up in the air because our environment is not small. We're one of the larger 700,000-plus endpoints.

Sometimes, they push an update that breaks the whole deployment. It happened to me with update two. It was my fault. I updated right after it came out, and I won't ever do that again. I will wait at least a month or two or three, because the update was taken down a week later.
I was lucky enough because I had updated from update one to update two. So it didn't really break the whole deployment, just parts of it. But they fixed it in a week with update three, so I was able to put it back together. Roll back is also always an option.

ISE is pretty stable. If it does have an issue then you need to call TAC and work through the bug in it. They are very responsive and very quick to help us eliminate the issue and also come up with a plan, such as how to move forward with additional issues or different things that are coming down the pipe with Cisco ISE. When you're talking to them, you feel like they are a partner and not just a disconnected entity.

If you have someone taking care of it, it can be quite easy to manage the solution. Otherwise, if you don't look after it and take care of it day-to-day, then it will become more complex to run. However, if you have someone taking care of it, maintenance is not that difficult.

The stability of the solution needs to be improved. It's not ideal. It's lacking overall. If we have five or six items activated, the box shakes and we're scared to touch anything. When we do have to reconfigure things, it's a nightmare as it can go down and it can take us a day or two to sort things out.
View full review »We have been using it, especially during alternative working arrangements (due to the COVID-19). Using it, it's been stable. We have not had any issues. The only reason we are looking to upgrade is we didn't know the benefits that the newer version offered.
