Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches Primary Use Case

I work as a project manager for three companies who implement the solution for customers in Libya. Cisco is very popular because it is a household name that provides reliable switches for network infrastructures.

More than 3,000 customers utilize the solution.

We are using it as an unmanaged product to which we can't take access, so we just play L2 switches. At the branch access layer, we are using the aforementioned feature.

Right now, I'm unsure where we have and how much we have of the solution since they are L2 switches. Currently, I don't have an available inventory.

The solution helps me do simple network functions, like packet distribution. The problem in my office is only the distribution network. We use many access points.

The version I'm using is LDS 24 or LDS 26.

The solution is deployed on-premise.

My company is a health campus, polytechnic. We have a staff of 400 people, and there are 3,000 students.

Most of our solutions rely on a multi-talent approach to address our needs. We implement straightforward switching technology that automates the provision of connectivity, IP configurations, and switching based on customer requests and requirements. In our environment, we typically have a significant number of network stacks in operation, often with ten-gigabit interconnections.

The smallest environment we manage involves about twenty-five stacks, and the largest one comprises over two thousand nine hundred switches.

Linksys switches are usually at the edge. People usually go with other switches for the core, but this is the switch that all the desktops connect to. It's primarily used in small offices. Once you're in a position where you really need a ton of bandwidth, companies tend to move away from Linksys to Cisco, Brocade, or another enterprise switch.  Most of the companies that use Linksys have fewer than 200 or 300 users.

I have been in so many situations using this product it is hard to choose a primary use. I have worked for many companies, so we have used them as access switches, we have used them as distribution switches, we have used them as IDF (Intermediate Distribution Frame) closets for floor switches. We have used them as code switches and clusters and chassis. I have gone through using all the different versions of switches in many scenarios, like remote offices, access to quotas for distribution. I have used the switches on every level and in exhaustive possibilities.

In our environment, we are using Cisco switches in Visio clusters. We are using Dell servers, and we are using Dell Precision workstations. I do not remember the model number of the Cisco switches. We are using the Cisco network series of switches and they are the L2 class. I think they are the 2960 series of switches.

At present, our company policy does not allow us to host any of our data on the public cloud. We are revising the information security policy. Until this new policy comes into effect, we will not be able to go into the public cloud.

In the end, the switches will continue to be a component of data interpretation in our environment.

We use this solution to build networks that interconnect different branches and buildings in different layers. We can also connect to a cloud environment.

The model of switch that is used depends on the application. I prefer to use the 4500 series for the distribution layer, but for the access layer, the 2950 series is better.

I have used it with multiple clients. I have used Linksys Switches for Ethernet in Hotel Regency located in Pakistan, which utilises Linksys switches across its three floors and approximately twenty rooms and Ramada Portal, a four-star hotel, which also employs Cisco switches.
The Linksys Switches offer simplified network management and scalability. These switches can be easily managed with basic networking knowledge without requiring CCNA level expertise for Cisco.

Manufacturing, server room, and office areas of former employer. Switches were great, except in the factory area, because the product is warmer. This was a machine shop with a lot of water-based coolant vapor in the air. This coalesced on cables, etc., and it made things sticky way up toward the ceiling where the switches and Cat 5 cables ran. I suspect that the coolant got into the switch and killed it. We replaced, then did it again.

We sell Cisco switches and routers. In unmanaged switches, we sell Linksys. In India, there are only a few models available in Linksys. Nowadays, they are only selling Wi-Fi routers and switches in the name of Linksys. Other products are available under the brand name Cisco.

We are using Cisco products for the core banking sector. We are using Linksys products in educational institutes and small enterprises because Linksys products are cheaper than Cisco switches.

These are small startups that cannot be on the cloud because of local government regulations. As such, they need to have their own switches and routers.
