Code42 Incydr Pricing

It was expensive. It was more expensive than Eureka, and it was more expensive than Barracuda Backup, but what we got was a full team. They didn't come in and nickel and dime us. They provided the assistance we needed. They didn't say that they need to charge us for something or it is going to take another statement of work. It was all bundled into it. The organizations that can't afford or are not interested in an enterprise solution, such as a medium-sized business, they're probably not going to want to spend the money, but you get all the maintenance. We got the training. We got the consulting support, and we got the advice and console. We had an individual come out. He really didn't need to, but he came out on-site and worked with us. So, it was pretty good.

You could certainly add on different functionality. You could buy extra consulting, and you could buy other services. We chose not to do that, and it worked out okay for us. At the time I was involved in the purchase, they had a bundled solution, or you could buy it a la carte. I don't know what they're doing in 2022, but it probably still is the same. It was, at least, through the end of last year.

We pay for the software maintenance. It is probably 18% or 20% of the license fee for rev releases.

I'm not sure I can provide any advise about cost or pricing with this solution. I was mostly involved with the packaging and deployment after the solution was selected and purchased.

Negotiate a multi-year discount. You are allowed up to five devices (computers) per user account but do not attempt to "share" across users because you will (1) be out of licensing compliance and (2) lose the functionality of the iOS App which our users LOVE (access your files from a business lunch while your computer is not with you).

This is my only major issue with Code42 at this point. They have an excellent codebase, and a product which has been enormously useful for my small business clients, but they have changed their licensing plans to sell their private cloud product only in quantities of 25 or more licenses. This essentially shuts out small businesses entirely, relegating them to Code42's home-oriented cloud service—the use of which would violate data protection agreements for small businesses which store theft-relevant information, and which requires mass cloud uploading via broadband services which are often glacially slow for uploads.

CrashPlan PROe was formerly a sales driver for me in recommending my small business clients purchase their own servers for PROe backup, but I can no longer make that recommendation for smaller clients given these licensing limitations.

It's especially difficult to understand why this decision was made considering clients using private cloud backup present a *lower* overhead for Code42. It's very strange, and not confidence-inspiring.

Know your environment. Budget extra licenses to cover cold storage of inactive users to cover your data retention policies. We keep data for six months to a year after an employee has left the organization; this consumes a license.

The pricing is reasonable. It's my understanding that the cost is about $7 for unlimited storage in the cloud per server.

It is 100% worth the cost to get and keep the support, especially when setting it up. There are some nice cheats that the techs have to help you get stuff done faster and they can point you to options you may want to use depending on the size of your organization.

Consider that each user can have multiple devices associated with each license. The cost is low enough that there's no reason not to aim for 100% coverage.

The minimum of 50 users seems to exclude a lot of small companies that could truly use this type of backup. I'm guessing these companies could still use the "personal" version but wouldn't get the central dashboard function.

Speak with your sales rep and SE. They are honest and straightforward with everything. They were the best solution and surprisingly enough, the cheapest. I couldn't believe that and was blown away with how they came in way lower than their competition.

Pricing is in line with the expectations. As I mentioned previously, I would like to see a different tier or level of licensing for accounts in cold storage as those files are lying dormant and for the most part will not be accessed.

The Code42 website is very transparent with the pricing and licensing, there's not much to explain. The only thing we've ever come across that needs a little clarification is that each user license is for four devices.

Speak with your vendor to see if you can get better pricing through them. We thought the pricing was fair for what it offered and did not pay "list" price. However, it seemed to be reasonable in the end what we paid for deployment and first year costs for rollout on our own hardware.
