What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is DR. In my opinion, there is nothing better at what it does. The solution provides fantastic continuous data protection. We do a lot of spin up… more »

How has it helped my organization?

We had some ransomware that got on and infected the corporate shared drives. It was just one system and one user type of thing. It didn't spread because we had it locked… more »

What needs improvement?

While I am open to transitioning over to using Zerto for long-term retention, the problem is the alerting function in Zerto is very poor. That makes it a difficult use… more »

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Zerto is more expensive than competitors, making the price difference pretty high. While it is very expensive, it's very powerful and good at what it does. The cost is why… more »

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

At my previous company, we were using SRM and our DR tests would take one to two days. For our primary customer, we switched to Zerto, then it took 15 to 20 minutes… more »

What other advice do I have?

Most people assume catastrophic failures have a long-term data impact. However, with Zerto, it doesn't have to be that way. If you spend the money to protect everything… more »

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We currently use Veeam and Commvault. In general, moving VMs through VMware using site-to-site is not as easy than with Zerto because the data has to go on flight, and… more »

What is most valuable?

The ease of use is the most valuable feature. It is a very simple system compared to just about any other back up technology like Commvault or EMC Avamar. It is extremely… more »

How has it helped my organization?

The most specific reason why Rubrik is a step above just about everyone else out there is that it's cutting edge. With Live Mount I can instantly spin up a server for… more »

What needs improvement?

They have what's called an organization which means different groups of access to Rubrik, but the alerting only goes to the admins. My suggestion to Rubrik is to make sure… more »

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Anyone who's using Rubrik or any solution is to do a POC, or a proof of concept, that is key. If you can do a proof of concept and you can put the device on your… more »

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used Commvault in Canada and in the U.S. we had Dell EMC Avamar. We switched from them because of the cost of ownership. The complicity of Avamar, the fact that Avamar… more »

What other advice do I have?

My advice would be to work closely with their personnel to implement it. For a large organization like ourselves create an internal project with a project manager. You can… more »

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I believe we looked at Cohesity. There's a couple of other EMC solutions. Their latest, IPDA, is their latest Avamar solution. It's an integrated Avamar. It also was not… more »

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is that you can do a bare-metal restore even with dissimilar hardware. I can restore my image on a Dell server that I got from an HP server, as long as the specs are in… more »

What needs improvement?

They do a lot of maintenance. In the span of six months, maintenance is done at least twice and you are told that it is coming up, with apologies for the inconvenience. It's a distraction, and it… more »

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The icing on the cake is the price, as it is quite affordable. The pricing is comparable to the newest solution available on the market, Altaro. They are in the same price range. We don't have hybrid… more »

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Veritas in the past, but I had a very bad experience and it has traumatized me so I don't speak about that product. I have used Commvault and that solution is quite similar to Veeam… more »

What other advice do I have?

It's best to go full cloud or even purchase the storage from Acronis rather than having an on-premises install where you have to purchase advanced licenses, only to go to the cloud. That is the… more »

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I evaluated Mozy at the time I was evaluating Acronis Backup. Acronis could do what Mozy could not. I realized that they had a local distributor for us, who offered us a lot of help.

What is most valuable?

The ease of use and the GUI have really been most valuable to us. Configuring the system to do what we need is simple and straight forward and a lot of guesswork has been… more »

How has it helped my organization?

We have been able to not only backup more of our data at faster speeds, but also recover that data quicker. What used to take us hours to recover is now done in minutes… more »

What needs improvement?

The product is still young and is continually improving. There have been a couple of buggy releases in the software that have caused us minor issues, so possibly some… more »

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Setup was very easy and pricing/licensing were very straightforward. We didn't feel like we were getting nickeled and dimed for every little thing.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used CommVault. We switched due to costs and speeds primarily.

What other advice do I have?

If you're on the fence about moving to Cohesity, I suggest making the jump. We have been amazed at what we've been able to accomplish with it in such a short time.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked at CommVault, Cohesity, Veritas, and Veeam.

How has it helped my organization?

The most important part is that we know we have a backup of the whole virtual server. We can restore the whole server if we want, or just take some specific files. I like this duality of the product. That's how I put it on virtualized software.

What needs improvement?

The most important improvement would be for it to be updated to support new servers and we actually are in a situation that we are going to connect our Exchange service to a new one. They have to actually support new software as they are released and I think Veeam has promised to support new Windows… more »

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price is great. It's software related, and I know that might be a good thing because it's a cheap solution to buy and we have been looking for a program for backup and they fit the bill. The price of Veeam and its software related products enable you to have your own hardware. You can use your… more »

What other advice do I have?

You can actually use the infrastructure you already have so you don't have to buy new hardware to actually start using it. That's the most important part about this solution.
