We performed a comparison between Oracle OBIEE and Tableau based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Reporting solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."I like that Oracle OBIEE comes with more options. For example, more options with data security, user security, and other security. It's more complicated than Microsoft, but it gives you more options. They also added the part for machine learning, which is good."
"A great feature of the solution is its stability."
"Dashboards provide us with various views and perspectives on our data, allowing us to analyze metrics such as revenue, occupancy rates, etc."
"The most valuable feature of Oracle OBIEE is the security of the solution."
"The visualization is very good."
"I think the most valuable features are the ability to drill down, the graphs, and the scheduling for the reports to be received in Excel on a daily basis. Users like Excel, so it's good for them that they receive the reports by email, that they don't have to specify the schedule."
"It's the connectors, the adapters. Built in connectors with different ERPs, you can plug in XL, other sources of data. It's very easy to configure. It's very easy to use."
"It is easy to create a report quickly. It does not take much time to create an ad hoc report."
"Data handling, visualizations, and aesthetics of it are the most valuable features."
"Any feature I am looking for usually is part of the next upgrade within a few months. They have a very good dynamic evolution."
"The UI part is the best. The end-users can easily get started with Tableau Desktop or Tableau Online because of its user-friendliness."
"Tableau's initial setup was straightforward."
"Tableau is highly scalable. Now that they've introduced Hyper, you can create an extract of more than 5 million rows in minutes and then do your analysis."
"It's very easy to set everything up."
"It is an excellent tool for data capture, processing, and visualization."
"I really like the interactivity of the dashboards."
"The functionality to customize and modify reports has been removed, and it would be beneficial to reinstall it, as it allows greater customization and flexibility in creating reports."
"I would like to see enhancements in tracking, debugging, and flexibility."
"OBIEE doesn't have audit logs."
"I would like to see Machine Learning included in this solution."
"Supply chain and finance."
"I find I prefer Oracle OAC over OBIEE. It's more advanced, has artificial intelligence, and there's more that we can do with it in general. OBIEE is lacking features."
"Managing the OB applications requires a high level of experience, and makes the solution quite heavy."
"There are times we have slowness when processing the reports with Oracle OBIEE. Improving the performance would be beneficial."
"The Hyper Extract functionality is not as strong as that provided by Microsoft SQL."
"They need to improve the bar chart position and width."
"Formatting controls could use some improvement."
"I am not a frequent user of this solution, so I am not sure what they've been doing recently. The last time when I used it, I had to use other tools with it for data extraction and cleansing. Its price should also be improved. It is more expensive than Power BI. In terms of training, there is generally better online training for Power BI, but I am not sure of that. It would be helpful to know from where to access its training."
"The pricing is high. I'm using a student license, however, I know that even this license is very expensive. I've tried to have this product in our organization, however, it's quite expensive. We don't have the internal budget."
"The product needs to allow for better ways to drill down more effectively on the information at hand."
"It should offer better features for customization."
"Its price is a concern. It is more expensive than Power BI. The other thing that I never liked about Tableau is its ability to handle large sets of data. To present the data in the dashboards, we have to stage it up exactly like it is going to come into the dashboard. We use another tool called Alteryx that does that for us. So, we manipulate the data, get it staged, and then push it into Tableau. Tableau is terrible at handling large data sets, and we knew right away that we couldn't use Tableau to do data manipulation."
