We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Its most valuable feature is its ability to do its job accurately, effectively, and very quickly. The amount of traffic that we have going through our system is astounding... The delay with the SSL decryption turned on is almost unnoticeable.""With the Thunder SSLi, we're better protected. We can stop use of VPN and proxies. We are better protected against dirty traffic coming back to our schools. Having a secure decrypt zone with the equipment lowers the chances that our security infrastructure could possibly miss an attack.""We have several proxies in our environment, so we localized internet traffic between these proxies. Instead of getting a really huge proxy box, according to our size, we can use three boxes and share the traffic with A10's load-balancer feature."

"Very intuitive and granular configuration - It does not require much time, or advanced knowledge, for configuration and maintenance.""Its inline transferring mode is the most valuable because it is 100% transparent. When you change the IP, there is no change on the network side. If you can't and want to try to reach an IP, you can reach the server IP. There are many other advanced security features in it. The smallest appliances of Imperva can handle the highest traffic at a customer site. For example, a smaller appliance from Imperva can provide you the same security as an F5 product.""Imperva is easy to use and deploy. The UI is excellent.""Imperva WAF's strongest features are the detection of web application threats and vulnerabilities in the source code.""The compliance is the most valuable aspect.""Configuration for different application sources is most valuable. We can segregate the traffic that an application is carrying and identify the sizing in Imperva.""The features I have found most valuable with Imperva Web Application Firewall are account takeover protection, advanced bot protection, and API security.""The solution has been quite stable. I have not seen any bugs at all."

Cons
"I would like them to have a better UI (better universal design).""It would be great if it supported SSL operations according to Active Directory users. For example, if we want to bypass one of the servers or a client's internet access for SSL interception, we have to do it according to the IP address. It would be better if we could do it according to the Active Directory username. A10 says they kind of support that but we haven't tested it.""There is one thing I would like to see changed. In their features for setting things up, there is a templating system that would normally assist clients. However, we had a better time setting up the device either through the command line or through the interface and not using the templates that were pre-installed. So there is room for improvement to the templates for initial installation."

"The tool needs to improve CPU and storage memory.""The user interface could be better.""Their portal is very limited and needs improvement.""It would be helpful to have a "recommended deployment", or even a list of basic features that should either be used or turned on by default.""Sometimes our web application firewall will slow down.""Imperva Web Application Firewall is a good system, but we found that the visibility of the diverse-path server, e.g. where the traffic is coming from, the different IPs, etc., needs improvement.""Imperva Web Application Firewall is very expensive.""I am looking for more data enrichment. We should have the ability to add our own custom data to the system, to the live traffic."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "We always pay for support. Any organization of our size who doesn't is asking for problems."
  • "When you purchase the equipment, you purchase the licensing and warranty. It's all fairly standard. We haven't been caught with anything surprising."
  • "Our licensing costs, yearly, are just under $15,000. Your initial cost of acquisition is obviously going to be more than $15,000..."

  • "Make sure you understand the way that Imperva charges. It's very affordable. However, I would like to see a package with the Virtual Patching included. You get to do patching separately."
  • "Everybody complains about the price of this solution."
  • "The cost of this solution depends on the platform."
  • "The price of this solution is a little bit high compared to competitors."
  • "There are some licenses that you have to buy to use some features. Its price could be better. Price is always important because, at the end of the day, customers have a budget. If you can meet the budget, you can sell, and if you don't, you cannot sell."
  • "There is a license for this solution and we purchase the license annually with no additional fees."
  • "There are a couple of different licensing models."
  • "The price of Imperva Web Application Firewalls is expensive compared to others."

Top Answer:For ADC, any ADC can do a good job. But in case if you want to add WAF functionality to the same ADC hardware you have to look for other ADC's like F5, Imperva, Radware, Fortinet, etc.
Top Answer:You can have a look to Imperva Cloud WAF, the anti-DDoS mitigation is under 1s and works very well. I observed a lot of DDoS attacks that were well managed (even not seen by the customer) by Imperva… more »
