We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"With the Thunder SSLi, we're better protected. We can stop use of VPN and proxies. We are better protected against dirty traffic coming back to our schools. Having a secure decrypt zone with the equipment lowers the chances that our security infrastructure could possibly miss an attack.""We have several proxies in our environment, so we localized internet traffic between these proxies. Instead of getting a really huge proxy box, according to our size, we can use three boxes and share the traffic with A10's load-balancer feature.""Its most valuable feature is its ability to do its job accurately, effectively, and very quickly. The amount of traffic that we have going through our system is astounding... The delay with the SSL decryption turned on is almost unnoticeable."

"The device blocks threats and allows legitimate users to work correctly.""his solution allows me to secure applications, by blocking suspicious traffic based on the signature that has been enabled for that particular application.""A user-friendly and reasonably priced solution.""The UI is user-friendly.""The most valuable aspect is that it establishes user security.""It is easy to expand. Our clients are enterprise-size.""The solution has been very stable.""Radware has been characterized by being extremely robust. This gives us the confidence to offer our users a continuous service."

Cons
"I would like them to have a better UI (better universal design).""There is one thing I would like to see changed. In their features for setting things up, there is a templating system that would normally assist clients. However, we had a better time setting up the device either through the command line or through the interface and not using the templates that were pre-installed. So there is room for improvement to the templates for initial installation.""It would be great if it supported SSL operations according to Active Directory users. For example, if we want to bypass one of the servers or a client's internet access for SSL interception, we have to do it according to the IP address. It would be better if we could do it according to the Active Directory username. A10 says they kind of support that but we haven't tested it."

"The interface implementation can be improved.""A feature that I would like to see included in the next version might be a better analysis when working with crypt issues. Right now, it is very manual; you load it into Alteon and it runs. It would be interesting to see a more dynamic process.""The GUI needs to be improved. Right now, the solution isn't so user-friendly.""Recently our team was talking about the things you can customize in Alteon and the level of programming that doing so demands. I would like to see more information on how to customize the programming and troubleshoot.""The community portal does not have a place to find scripts.""I would like this solution to have an integration tool that will convert configuration from other software, into readable values for this product during implementation.""Radware Alteon could improve the troubleshooting from the command line interface, they could do a better job making it easier.""We recently had a problem with the tables Obsolete ARP which was observed by the support team. It would be good to diagnose and solve this problem with a patch since it is not documented that it will be solved in later updates."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "We always pay for support. Any organization of our size who doesn't is asking for problems."
  • "When you purchase the equipment, you purchase the licensing and warranty. It's all fairly standard. We haven't been caught with anything surprising."
  • "Our licensing costs, yearly, are just under $15,000. Your initial cost of acquisition is obviously going to be more than $15,000..."
  • More A10 Networks Thunder SSLi Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "It has a good price point and is more reasonable than other comparable products"
  • "Radware Alteon is less expensive than many of the other competitors."
  • "The pricing is better than the competition. It is getting more pricey as the years go on, as more people are migrating to it, and as the technology gets better."
  • "I'm content with Alteon's pricing."
  • "Alteon's price is excellent compared to other solutions. F5 costs around twice as much. We still have about three years left before this hardware reaches the end of its life. We're migrating to the cloud, and phasing some of this out, but it's nice that they've given us a long window to keep their hardware in place."
  • "The cost of Radware Alteon is mid-ranged."
  • "Its pricing is very good. It is very competitive. Radware Alteon is the leader in the market. At a lesser price, we get a good product and also good support. Other vendors who are providing load balancers charge separately for two items. You have the hardware cost, and you have the support cost, whereas, in the case of Radware, you get both in a single package."
  • "The solution is cost-efficient."
