We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The product has all the features that we for application managementat a lower cost.""The solution is 100% scalable. It's much more scalable than the customer's capacity for implementing it. We do plan to increase usage ourselves.""The most valuable feature of the solution is taking snapshots while doing the execution of the test cases.""The most valuable feature is the Business Process Testing feature, BPT, because it brings in the most revenue."

"Micro Focus ALM Quality Center is a very good test management tool especially for writing test cases and uploading. You can even upload the test cycles from Excel. You get the defects and the reports, and also some automation using EFT which works with ALM.""Most of the features that I like the best are more on the analytics side.""The most valuable feature is the ST Add-In. It's a Microsoft add-in that makes it much easier to upload test cases into Quality Center.""By using QC we broke down silos (of teams), improved the organization of our tests, have a much better view of the testing status, and became much quicker in providing test results with document generation.""It allows us to easily make linkage and dependencies, with plenty of integrations.""It is a tool, and it works. It has got good linkage and good traceability between the test cases and the defects. It has got lots of features for testing.""With test execution, you have an option to create custom fields. It is also really user-friendly. With other tools, we only have restricted fields and we cannot customize or add new columns or fields that users can make use of while testing. ALM is very flexible for creating new fields. It is easy for users to understand the application.""Produces good reports and has a great traceability feature."

Cons
"The pricing should be more competitive.""What I'm missing from the solution is a repository for the code. Something like Git, for example. Some sort of depository for the code that is embedded.""It is difficult to gain experience with the product because resources and documentation for learning are not available.""In the next release, I would like to have a repository for the code which is embedded. Apart from that, it has everything I need."

"The performance could be faster.""The version of Micro Focus ALM that we use only works through Internet Explorer (IE). We have to communicate to everyone that they can only use IE with the solution. This is a big limitation. We should be free to use any type of browser or operating system. We have customers and partners who are unable to log into the system and enter their defects because they work on a different operating system.""The product is good, it's great, but when compared to other products with the latest methodologies, or when rating it as a software development tool, then I'll have to rate it with a lower score because there's a lot of other great tools where you can interconnect them, use them, scale them, and leverage. It all depends on the cost.""We have had a poor experience with customer service and support.""There's room for improvement on the reporting side of things and the scheduling, in general, is a bit clunky.""There are always new features and more support for new and legacy technology architectures with each release. But the bad news is a growing list of long-standing issues with the product rarely gets addressed.""Cross project reporting is limited to similar database schemas""An area for improvement in Micro Focus ALM Quality Center is not being able to update the Excel sheet where I wrote the test cases. Whenever I update some test cases, I'm unsuccessful because there is overlapping data or missing cases from the sheet."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is a lower cost than other top competetors."
  • More OpenText AccuRev Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "I'd rate the pricing as 3/10 as it's very expensive."
  • "If you have more than five users, a concurrent licensing model should be considered."
  • "For pricing, I recommend to buy a bundled package. Check the HPE site for more details."
  • "The full ALM license lets you use the requirements tab, along with test automation and the Performance Center. You can also just buy the Quality Center edition (Manual testing only), or the Performance Center version (Performance Testing only)."
  • "HPE has one of the most rigid, inflexible, and super expensive license models."
  • "Sure, HP UFT is not free. But consider what you get for that cost: A stable product that is easy to use; the kitchen sink of technology stack support; decades of code (which in many cases actually is free); a version that is a stepping stone to an easier Selenium design; and a support base that is more that just the kindness of strangers."
  • "Seat and concurrent licensing models exist; the latter is recommended if a large number of different users will be utilizing the product."
  • "I feel that the licenses are expensive. "
