Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The usability and overall scan results are good.""One of the features that I feel is groundbreaking, that I would like to see expanded on, is the IAS feature: The Interactive Application Security Testing module that gets loaded onto an application on a server, for more in-depth, granular findings. I think that is really neat. I haven't seen a lot of competitors doing that.""It's very user-friendly for the testing teams. It's very easy for them to understand things and to fix vulnerabilities.""The tool's most valuable feature is performance.""The vulnerability scanning option for analyzing the security loopholes on the websites is the most valuable feature of this solution.""The automated approach to these repetitive discovery attempts would take days to do manually and therefore it helps reduce the time needed to do an assessment.""The tool's most valuable feature is scan configurations. We use it for external physical applications. The scanning time depends on the application's code.""Picks up weaknesses in our app setups."

"The most important features, I would say, are the scanning abilities and the remediation abilities within the product. Scanning because, obviously, we want to make sure that our application code is flaw-free. And the remediation tools are helpful to the developers to help them track and manage their flaws.""The dependency graph visualization provides the ability to see nested dependencies within libraries for pinpointing vulnerabilities.""The product provides guidance to develop secure software.""The static scan is the feature that we use the most, as it gives us insight into our source code. We have it integrated with our continuous integration, continuous delivery system, so we can get insight quickly.""Stable and scalable, with good reporting features. Helps in detecting and managing vulnerabilities and risks.""I can have quick results by just uploading compiled components.""The best feature of Veracode is that we can do static and dynamic scans.""For use cases where our company buys a product with the source code, but only the final executables or the binaries, only Veracode is able to work on that type of tool."

Cons
"Integration into other tools is very limited for Acunetix. While we're trying to incorporate a CI/CD process where we're integrating with JIRA and we're integrating with Jenkins and Chef, it becomes problematic. Other tools give you a high integration capability to connect into different solutions that you may already have, like JIRA.""Currently only supports web scanning.""We want to see how much bandwidth usage it consumes. When we monitor traffic we have issues with the consumption and throttling of the traffic.""The solution can be improved by adding the ability to scan subdomains automatically, and by providing reports that can be exported to external databases to share with other solutions.""In terms of what needs improvement, the way the licensing model is currently is not very convenient for us because initially, when we bought it, the licensing model was very flexible, but now it restricts us.""There's a clear need for a reduction in pricing to make the service more accessible.""The jargon used makes it difficult for project managers to understand the issues, and the technical explanations used make it difficult for developers to understand issues. These things should be simplified much more. That would be very helpful for us when explaining to them what needs to be fixed. The report output needs to be simplified.""The solution's pricing could be better."

More Acunetix Cons →

"The UI could be better. Also, there are some scenarios where there is no security flaw, but the report indicates that there is a security flaw. The report is not perfectly accurate. So, the accuracy of the scanning reports needs improvement.""There might be room for improvement in the in-app guidance and the tips and tricks for the developer about how to progress. We would like more insight into the development environment, where they would get guidance on how to avoid flaws.""In the future, I would like to see the RASP capability built-in.""The Greenlight product that integrates into the IDE is not available for PHP, which is our primary language.""It would be nice if Veracode were bundled with some preferred vendors like Salesforce and offered at a discount.""All areas of the solution could use some improvement.""There is also a size limit of 100 MB so we cannot upload files that are larger than that. That could be improved. Also, the duration of the scan is a bit too long.""If the dynamic scan is improved, then the speed might go up. That is somehow not happening. We have raised this concern. It might also help if they could time limit scans to 24 hours instead of letting them go for three days. Then, whatever results could be shared, even if the scan is not complete, that would definitely help us."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "When we looked at all other vendors and what they were asking for, to provide a third of what Acunetix was capable of doing, it was an easy decision... But now that it's coming to a cost where it's line with market value, it becomes more of a competition... Acunetix is raising the cost of licensing. It's 3.5 times what we were initially quoted."
  • "Acunetix was around the same price as all the other vendors we looked at, nothing special."
  • "The pricing and licensing are reasonable to a point. In order to run multiple scans at a time, we are going to have to purchase a 100 count license, which is an overkill. Though, compared to what we were paying for, the cost seems reasonable."
  • "All things considered, I think it has a good price/value ratio."
  • "The costs aren't very expensive. It costs around $3000 or $4000."
  • "I would say that Acunetix is expensive because there are products on the market with similar features that are equally or better-priced."
  • "The pricing is a little high, and moreover, it's kind of domain-based."
  • "When compared with other products, the pricing is a little bit high. But it gives value for the price. It serves the purpose and is worthwhile for the price we pay."
  • More Acunetix Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Its complexity makes it quite expensive, but it’s all worth it, with all the engineering in the background."
  • "The pricing is pretty high."
  • "The worst part about the product is that it does not scale at all. Also, microservices apps will cost you a fortune."
  • "I think licensing needs to be changed or updated so that it works with adjustments. Pricing is expensive compared to the amount of scanning we perform."
  • "It's worth the value"
  • "Pricing seems fair for what is offered, and licensing has been no problem. All developers are able to get the access they need."
  • "It can be expensive to do this, so I would just make sure that you're getting the proper number of licenses. Do your analysis. Make sure you know exactly what it is you need, going in."
  • "The licensing and prices were upfront and clear. They stand behind everything that is said during the commercial phase and during the onboarding phase. Even the most irrelevant "that can be done" was delivered, no matter how important the request was."
