Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Acunetix has an awesome crawler. It gives a referral site map of near targets and also goes really deep to find all the inputs without issues. This was valuable because it helped me find some files or directories, like web admin panels without authentication, which were hidden.""The automated approach to these repetitive discovery attempts would take days to do manually and therefore it helps reduce the time needed to do an assessment.""The most important feature is that it's a web-based graphical user interface. That is a great addition. Also, the ability to schedule scans is great.""Picks up weaknesses in our app setups.""I haven't seen reporting of that level in any other tool.""For us, the most valuable aspect of the solution is the log-sequence feature.""The most valuable feature of the solution is the speed at which it can scan multiple domains in just a few hours.""Their technical support has been very active. If I have an issue, I can reach out to them and get an answer pretty quick."

"The DDoS testing module is useful and quick to use.""We use Ixia BreakingPoint for Layer 7 traffic generation. That's what we like.""There is a virtual version of the product which is scaled to 100s of virtual testing blades.""It is a scalable solution.""The most valuable feature of Ixia BreakingPoint is the ransomware and malware database for simulated attacks.""I like that we can test cloud applications.""The solution has many protocols and options, making it very flexible."

Cons
"We want to see how much bandwidth usage it consumes. When we monitor traffic we have issues with the consumption and throttling of the traffic.""While we do have it integrated with other solutions, it could still offer more integrations.""Integration into other tools is very limited for Acunetix. While we're trying to incorporate a CI/CD process where we're integrating with JIRA and we're integrating with Jenkins and Chef, it becomes problematic. Other tools give you a high integration capability to connect into different solutions that you may already have, like JIRA.""You can't actually change your password after you've set it unless you go back into the administration account and you change it there. Thus, if you're locked out and don't remember your password, that's a thing.""When monitoring the traffic we always have issues with the bandwidth consumption and the throttling of traffic.""It would be nice to have a feature to "retest" only a single vulnerability that the customer reports as patched, and delete it from the next scans since it has already been patched.""The only problem that they have is the price. It is a bit expensive, and you cannot change the number of applications for the whole year.""I had some issues with the JSON parameters where it found some strange vulnerabilities, but it didn't alert the person using it or me about these vulnerabilities, e.g., an error for SQL injection."

More Acunetix Cons →

"The solution originally was hard to configure; I'm not sure if they've updated this to make it simpler, but if not, it's something that could be streamlined.""They should improve UI mode packages for the users.""I would appreciate some preconfigured network neighborhoods, which are predefined settings for testing networks.""The quality of the traffic generation could be improved with Ixia BreakingPoint, i.e. to get closer to being accurate in what a real user will do.""The integration could improve in Ixia BreakingPoint.""The production traffic simulations are not realistic enough for some types of DDoS attacks.""The price could be better."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "When we looked at all other vendors and what they were asking for, to provide a third of what Acunetix was capable of doing, it was an easy decision... But now that it's coming to a cost where it's line with market value, it becomes more of a competition... Acunetix is raising the cost of licensing. It's 3.5 times what we were initially quoted."
  • "Acunetix was around the same price as all the other vendors we looked at, nothing special."
  • "The pricing and licensing are reasonable to a point. In order to run multiple scans at a time, we are going to have to purchase a 100 count license, which is an overkill. Though, compared to what we were paying for, the cost seems reasonable."
  • "All things considered, I think it has a good price/value ratio."
  • "The costs aren't very expensive. It costs around $3000 or $4000."
  • "I would say that Acunetix is expensive because there are products on the market with similar features that are equally or better-priced."
  • "The pricing is a little high, and moreover, it's kind of domain-based."
  • "When compared with other products, the pricing is a little bit high. But it gives value for the price. It serves the purpose and is worthwhile for the price we pay."

  • "There is no differentiation in licenses for Breaking Point. For one license, you will get all the features. There is no complexity in that."
  • "We have a one year subscription license for $25,000 US Dollars."
  • "or us, the pricing is somewhere around $12,000 a year. I'm unsure as to what new licenses now cost."
  • "The price is high. We pay for the license monthly."
  • "The solution is expensive."
  • "The price of the solution is expensive."
