We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Excellent compression and deduplication with off-site WAN backup included.""Valuable features for us include quick recovery, compression, and deduplication.""Ability to restore to any host.""This solution is stable.""The ease of use of the solution is its most valuable feature. The interface is also excellent.""All of the features are fantastic and also the management from Microsoft dealing with multiple machines is great. The whole package is excellent for me.""The product has many valuable features for handling backup needs, including replication, live migration, and incremental disaster recovery.""The CDP backup feature is very nice, as it allows you to take backups at high frequencies and with application consistency."

"I haven't experienced any crashes while using the solution...Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""The solution is easy to use.""Data Protector is quite simple and easy to deploy. The deployment is always the same. It's on a server, and the agents are deployed to the machines in a straightforward way. We have two engineers who deploy and manage all our backup solutions.""The solution is easy to use.""The command-line interface is user-friendly and well documented in the reference guide.""The most valuable feature is the capability to back up our SQL server.""The initial setup was relatively easy.""Deduplication implementation with CAPA is very good."

Cons
"Basically, how it works is that you have a single local drive, and then you have a cloud backup. It'd be nice if you could rotate the single local backup drive. As of now, you can't.""The scalability of the solution is limited.""The application could include a feature to install a set size of data, such as the ability to store a single application with all its registry information for easy transfer.""It would be nice to see a feature that backs up the host so that, in case of a server failure, an entire server could be restored all at once.""To improve Altaro, I would like to see the ability to choose more than one backup location at a time.""Improvement areas for Altaro VM Backup include enhancing backup and deduplication solutions for continuous operation and offering an all-in-one solution for hardware backup.""Migrating the physical through a backup and restore to a virtual environment would be very helpful.""Replication is not fast, the GUI could be more user-friendly, and technical support is lacking in Iran."

"We have a lot of requests for the Micro Focus team, particularly in terms of the Japanese data pattern, as it's not as good now. The Japanese data pattern accuracy of the Micro Focus Data Protector needs to be improved because there are a lot of false negatives and false positives. We are currently testing this and our product team has been communicating with the Micro Focus team.""It has a lot of undeveloped functions like window searching and patent searching, and within the main backup processes like VMware and Microsoft Exchange. It's completely not user-friendly, and it has no built-in antivirus software. In my opinion, Micro Focus Data Protector is not an enterprise level solution.""Many of our users complain about the GUI. You still need to rely on the command line interface. Because it originated as a Unix system, Data Protector is still a command line-driven solution, which makes it seem rather dated compared to systems that are built around a GUI from day one. It doesn't affect the functionality, but some people don't find it user-friendly.""The downside of the flexibility on offer is if you over-configure it, it may fail to function as some configurations may not match.""We have so many specific technological cracks in Micro Focus, but we are not getting the features, facilities, or coordination between the global delivery centers and the R&D team that we need to express our ideas.""Other tools seem to be easier to use.""VM backups needs to be improved. They need to make it similar to the way Veeam and Commvault are doing the virtual backups.""The new backup systems are using new mechanisms for the recovery phases; for example, VM, recovery and testing the backup before recovering it. These features are not available in Data Protector."
