Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The product is intuitive and easy to use.""It has great UI.""When you open a raw Excel file, it can be hard to look at everything in detail. Alteryx makes it much easier to go through the data, summarize it, and use different tools for analysis.""The solution is user-friendly.""It helps them to create customized workflows, transform data, perform calculations, and consolidate multiple data sources into a target database.""I have been using Alteryx Designer only for data modeling and data structuring.""The most valuable feature of Alteryx Designer is its ability to select all the inputs and formulas.""The functionality of drag and drop is the most valuable. It is a very user-friendly tool that can be understood easily. My teams also work with other solutions, such as Integration Services, and these solutions are very difficult for people who don't have technical knowledge."

"It's scalable.""The virtualization tool is useful.""The interface is really user-friendly.""The security is also excellent. It's highly granular, so the admins have a high degree of control, and there are many levels of security. That worked well. You won't have an EDC unless you put everything onto the platform because it is its own isolated thing.""Encapsulates all the components without the requirement to integrate or check compatibility.""Great features available in one tool.""The solution offers very good end-to-end capabilities.""The ease of use is my favorite feature. We're able to build different models and projects or combine different projects to build one use case."

Cons
"The actual usage part of it needs to be explained more. It's too vague right now.""If the price were reduced then it would be more competitive.""An improvement for Alteryx Designer would be faster bug fixes and updates.""Alteryx Designer's pricing and support could be improved.""Alteryx needs to improve its web governance. The gallery you use to filter the data is something else that could use some work. For instance, if you have a report connected to a database and want to filter a specific user, you should be able to suggest a specific region or a particular year. I know that the Alteryx isn't designed for data governance, but that would be great to think about.""The conditional join feature should be improved.""The product could offer more connectors and more databases with support for the in-database function.""Its cost can sometimes be a drawback."

More Alteryx Designer Cons →

"It requires a lot of manual work and is very time-consuming to get to a functional point.""It would be helpful to build applications based on Azure functions or web apps in Palantir Foundry.""The solution could use more online documentation for new users.""Cost of this solution is quite high.""The frontend capabilities of Palantir Foundry could be improved.""The workflow could be improved.""The data lineage was challenging. It's hard to track data from the sources as it moves through stages. Informatica EDC can easily capture and report it because it talks to the metadata. This is generated across those various staging points.""There is not a wide user base for the solution's online documentation so it is sometimes difficult to find answers."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is too expensive for our country. We are a small country, so it is too difficult to sell this solution. With Alteryx Designer, if you want to automate the data and run the flows, you have to pay more money. We were trying to automate the flows, and we found out that people have to pay 600 more for this feature, which makes it even more expensive. We are a partner for Tableau, and we are working with Tableau Prep, which is like a mini Alteryx. In Tableau Prep, you can drag and drop and make new connections with the different data sources. You can make all the connections. You can also publish a source. You don't have to pay more money with Tableau. You pay like $5 per user per month to access it."
  • "Alteryx is a little bit expensive compared to competing solutions."
  • "Alteryx Designer is an expensive solution."
  • "I rate Alteryx Designer a six out of ten for pricing."
  • "The licenses are expensive, making it difficult to consider acquiring additional licenses to the existing ones."
  • "Each license is something like $4,000."
  • "I rate the price of Alteryx Designer as a five on a scale of one to ten, where one is extremely expensive, and ten is a highly cheap product."
  • "I rate the price of Alteryx Designer a ten on a scale of one to ten, where one is low price and ten is high price."
