We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"We have seen an improvement in our infrastructure, as the code makes it very easy to deploy quickly to AWS.""As a service vendor, we have helped clients to achieve faster "go to market" on their products, and have provided highly flexible cost-effective system management solutions.""The solution offers a low footprint. We don't have to come up with a data center ourselves. We basically don't have to own any hardware. We just rent a slice of their platform and we have everything we need.""The most valuable features are load balancers, databases, and S3 buckets.""The most valuable feature is that it is simple.""There are a lot of features that I really like including ease of deployment, ease of build and release, and also that it is heavily focused on a PaaS or SaaS model.""The experience with Amazon AWS is error-free. That was also, of course, something that I really appreciate. That means it's really well-tested and, as published or as declared.""The main feature that I like the most is the variety of solutions that it provides. It provides some analysis, business information and more. It provides a wide variety of services."

"I very much like the support that you get, and I think that it's excellent.""Because of the way that their pricing model is set up, I can scale up or down the size of a customer's server very easily. It makes life very easy for me when they run out of space, need more speed or RAM, etc. I can very easily pay the difference and reboot the machine, and now I have the upgrade that I wanted. That just makes it extremely simple.""For small businesses and people who have some technical skills and are good with Linux command line, this solution is great. I love Linode because it is very fast. Whereas, the same configuration on Azure and AWS will be so slow. The best thing is that their pricing and speed are great.""It is also important that Linode offers worldwide coverage via multiple data centers. The ability to deploy on multiple servers, worldwide, allows us to have distributed services and failover and redundancy.""Service availability is the most valuable feature. It gives every user 100 percent uptime.""The creation of instances is very good, as is their interface which is not complex and is easy to use. With the dashboard it is easy to create a new instance and add your favorite things. You can add Debian, Ubuntu, or CentOS, or any flavor of operating system. You can select the RAM for your instance as well.""Generally speaking, I have not found any faults using Linode. For what we wanted, they provided a complete solution.""The most valuable feature is the domain settings page."

Cons
"An easier way to determine estimated costs quickly would be helpful.""This solution would be improved with the inclusion of hybrid Kubernetes management.""They should really consolidate and make things simpler rather than offer you hundreds of random options. The way everything is arranged really forces users to figure out everything on their own and then, on top of that, to calculate the total costs. There's an infinite number of combinations even just with cost calculations. It's just too much.""There are some limitations for certain applications that happen regionally and it is an issue for us.""They can launch the Oracle service in Azure, and we expect that this should be possible in Amazon AWS as well.""One of the problems that I have seen is that some of the products are not as mature as others.""I'm just bugged by the charges that I'm not really able to manage.""One area that could be improved is in data management. They could improve on the data side. For example, I see others with better cloud services and larger data computing capabilities."

"It would be helpful if they offered a service where they handle the Linux security.""They could have more international servers. There are certain places throughout Europe and Eastern Europe which are very open to doing a lot of technology business, such as Romania. Romania is very open to technology. At other service providers, I have stuff in Romania. I think there are some Eastern European locations that would be more open to it. So, if they could have more European points of presence, that would be more helpful.""I would like Linode (without cluttering things) to provide some type of DevOps workflow where people are configuring their pipelines from running their tests and deploying to their test server. Once approved by clicking a button, it just gets deployed to production. I would like something like Azure DevOps, which we use for large applications, and would be something nice to have in Linode.""It would be helpful if they provided the additional Linux distributions that I prefer using. But there is still a workaround. I can do it without direct support. It's a bit more complicated, but it can still be done.""Right now, they don't have multiple data centers. They have limited data centers. I am currently using the Singapore and Mumbai data centers, but I am looking for data centers in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. They need to improve the availability of their data centers and partnership engagements with cloud Panda solution providers, like us.""Everything is up-to-date for a small business. But for big business, they need to improve certain things. For example, there should be better security.""When it comes to marketing and exposure, Linode needs improvement because I just randomly found them by looking for Linux solutions.""The suitability of this solution depends on the features that you need. If you're an Uber-sized company then you're probably not going to want to start using Linode. If you are a large-sized organization then you're going to want to start using one of the bigger providers that gives you the scalability and the feature set that you are probably going to be needing in the future."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"It's my understanding that our company is charged a few hundred dollars on a monthly basis.""I find that Amazon AWS is expensive.""The Oracle licensing is higher than it is with Amazon AWS.""I think they've done a pretty good job with their pricing.""Its price is kind of okay. When we do a migration from on-premises to the cloud, we typically use the lift-and-shift model. Based on the studies that we have done, cost savings are definitely there when we moved from on-premises to the cloud.""The price could be lower.""There are many variables involved in pricing service in AWS and overall the pricing is a bit on the higher side.""AWS is not an expensive product."

"I pay just over £20 per month and have done so ever since I started eight years ago, which to me is good value.""The pricing model is very simple. I like the simplicity of it, starting at $5, then doubling as it goes up from there. That is a brilliant idea, and it is not complex at all. It is about as dead simple as you can imagine. So, if you want to double what you have, then you double your price, pay the money, and reboot. It is done. It's that simple. You can't beat that.""One key difference is that pricing is very hard to come by and to understand with all the bigger companies. Their pricing models are so weird and it's hard to figure out exactly how much I am going to pay for this kind of service. Everything is piecemeal. With Linode, it's simple and straightforward. You know exactly what you will have to pay at the end of the day.""Compared to other service providers, like AWS and Google, the cost of services are much less and more affordable. We are saving about 90 percent by going with Linode versus other cloud providers.""The pricing model is very simple. If you have very small applications, you can use the plan which costs $5 per month. That gives you 50 GB of memory and almost 1 GB of RAM. If you need more than you have to select the next plan which is $10 per month, which has about 70 GB of data and 2 GB of RAM.""When we started with the service, the cost was approximately €5 per month.""The value for the price is really good.""Pricing is very good and flexible, according to the resources required."

Overview

Amazon Web Services (AWS), is a collection of cloud computing services, also called web services, that make up a cloud-computing platform offered by Amazon.com. These services operate from 12 geographical regions across the world. The most central and well-known of these services arguably include Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, also known as "EC2", and Amazon Simple Storage Service, also known as "S3". Amazon markets AWS as a service to provide large computing capacity more quickly and more cheaply than a client company building an actual physical server farm.
