The Pulse Pattern Generator (PPG) and Error Detector are co-located, which makes it easier to use because I can just probe it directly on the PCB.The jitter function included into the system has helped me in terms of improving the capabilities of our product.It gives you the capability to increase the Tap levels and voltage strength more than what you have in your signal.The user interface is easy, simple, and practical.The most valuable feature is its frequency range.It supports the PAM-4 encoding scheme. We use that to do our PAM-4 receiver validation.We can extract signal loss, skew, DKDF... and the tool is very flexible.

The most valuable features are its wide bandwidth and 8 ports.The ability to have both the time domain and frequency domain, where the frequency domain is a very broad spectral plot, is extremely valuable.The product is quite reliable and straightforward to use. Typically, there are no households that we have to set up.It has a very low noise floor.It is easy to connect with, accurate, reliable, and hardly fails.The characterization of RF channels was helpful... The user interface was very simple to operate and there were a lot of tutorials.The user interface is pretty good. Right now, it is more than what we expected. Cons
I would like a better GUI with navigation. This should make it easier to compare to competitors, like Textronix or Keysight.Sometimes, the forms keep changing because of new product technology. If they could reduce the amount of change in the form, this would be good.Right now, it's a minimal tool. They could make it more dynamic by adding dynamic features, which could help us with doing effective analysis.I would like the frequency range to be extended because of the speed. Electronics are moving forward to higher speeds, so it's better to have higher frequencies.The product's antennas and radar applications need improvement.The user interface is a bit complicated because they have so many tabs. If they could simplify it, this would be helpful and appreciated.I would like to see them improve the software. The new version can be improved. It's not quite stable. It restarts a lot.

The depth the the user GUI could be improved. It is a bit deep for new users. During the first two weeks we spent a lot of time finding the tabs.The Rohde & Schwarz user interface is very oriented towards drop and drag functions on the screen. Some of those are just not obvious how to use. You have to have somebody get you over the hump.I'm against the Windows-based tools. Now everybody is running scopes, VNAs, and all their tools based on Windows. I don't want to see that in the future.Sometimes, it's difficult to find menus on the user interface.They could use an RDA interface.We would like to have autotracking and auto error tracking for regression testing. We would like to know what error happened, when it happened, and during what scenario (such as setup), because right now we have to manually look at when it happened.In the next release, I would like to see report generation. It would make it a lot easier to refer back to and, when doing final testing, seeing what went on during the pre-test would help.The size of the unit is too big, too heavy. It has to be made more portable and smaller.

Pricing and Cost Advice
The pricing is costly.Price-wise, it is much cheaper than its competitors.The first version of the product is always expensive, then once there is competition, it will be cheaper.I think everyone gets a demo before purchasing.It's very expensive equipment and cannot be upgraded after five years. If you buy equipment today, in five years, it won't be upgradeable. You have to upgrade it within the first five years that you buy it.Pricing is always expensive. It would be better if they lowered the price.It is expensive, but I guess that is why it works.

When we chose this, the price was really reasonable, and it is a high-end product. It had a high price, but we understood that because it has 8 port, the same noise floor (as the competition) with double the measurement capabilities and a cheaper price.The pricing is expensive, but very fair when you look at the technology that you are getting. These are higher-end pieces which have a ton of engineering in them that is not evident on the package. However, you could imagine the amount of time that the vendor has spent on the firmware, optimizing the internal layout, developing custom ICs, etc. They're releasing a mass produced product, but these things are built to last.Buying Rohde & Schwarz gear is like buying a Mercedes. It raises eyebrows when you're asking for that level of performance.If we are looking to purchase a product, we ask for a loaner for a month or so to test it out. Then, we will make a decision.The pricing is very expensive.One of the things I liked less, not only me but also my company, was that Rohde & Schwarz are very expensive... There are solutions that are almost the same that sell at better prices.The pricing is too high.The pricing is way too expensive.
