We performed a comparison between Fortra's Automate and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about UiPath, Microsoft, Automation Anywhere and others in Robotic Process Automation (RPA)."The interface is simple, user-friendly, and very intuitive."
"The best feature of Automate is its ease of use, which is a major selling point."
"The most valuable features for my client are timing and scheduling."
"We have found the pricing to be very reasonable."
"The ability to connect to websites and pull data is the solution's most valuable feature."
"Compared to other vendors, it's the scheduling tool because a lot of vendors want to charge you extra for their enterprise-level license to have a scheduling tool built in to give you the ability to set up regular schedules to run and do certain data checks."
"It's very easy to use. That's a big selling point for it. It has got a drag-and-drop interface, so you can quickly deploy bots."
"The licensing of the product is very good. You only need to license it once and then you have it forever."
"I like the fact that Ansible is agentless."
"It enabled me to take the old build manifest and automated everything. So when it came time to spin everything up, it was quick and simple. I could spin it up and test it out. And then, when it came time to roll production, it was a done deal. When we expanded to multiple data centers, it was same thing: Change a few IP addresses, change some names, and off we went."
"The most useful features are the playbooks. We can develop our playbooks and simplify them doing something like a cross platform."
"Ansible Tower provides a GUI, which is an enhancement, and a well-liked feature by operation teams."
"The solution is very simple to use."
"RBAC is great around Organizations and I can use that backend as our lab. Ingesting stuff into the JSON logs, into any sort of logging collector; it works with Splunk and there are other collectors as well. It supports Sumo and that helps, I can go create reports in Sumo Logic. Workflows are an interesting feature. I can collect a lot of templates and create a workflow out of them."
"On the network side, I already have a lot of our firewall related processes automated. If it's not automated all the way from the ticket system, our network team members, our tier-one guys in India, can just go into the Tower web interface and fill in a couple of survey questions."
"It has made our infrastructure more testable. We are able to build our infrastructure in CI, then are more confident in what we are deploying will work, not breaking everything."
"Some companies have asked for voice integration. This is likely part of the roadmap."
"It's possible that they could use a stronger community for seeking guidance and help."
"The intelligent automation feature could be improved. It's interesting because it's simple, but the automation quality isn't always good. It's easy to use, but sometimes you need to make a slight improvement to the automation, and that's not so easy."
"The workflow for variables could be better. The input and output of task-level variables could be made a little clearer in terms of passing those around from one task to another upon success, etc. Things like that could be a little easier potentially."
"They do not encrypt passwords, so this is an issue with HIPAA compliance."
"The OCR for Hebrew text needs to be improved."
"The technical support could be better. We suffer from language barriers, as we are in Argentina."
"The solution has a very weak knowledge base."
"The solution requires some Linux knowledge."
"One problem that I'm facing right now is the mismatch between the new version of Python and Ansible. Sometimes it's Python 2, and sometimes it's Python 3. When things get a bit dicey, I wish that Ansible would solve this issue by itself. I don't want to have to specify if it is Python 3 or version 2."
"If we have a problem with some file and we need to get Red Hat to analyze the issue and the file is 100GBs, we'll have an issue since we need to provide a log file for them to analyze. If it is around 12GB or 13GB, we can easily upload it to the Red Hat portal. With more than 100GBs, it will fail. I heard it should cover up to 250GB for an upload, however, I find it fails. Therefore, Red Hat needs to provide a way to handle this."
"The product could do a better job at building infrastructure."
"The documentation for the installation step of deployment, OpenStack, etc., and these things have to be a bit more detailed."
"What we need is model-driven, declarative software infrastructure management. However, things tend to break with new versions, requiring a lot of work to fix…The focus should be on improving the support for Ansible in the area of AI coding."
"We would like support for the post-integration of this product before cloud frameworks because right now their approach is to avoid using on-premises activities and move everything to the cloud."
"The scalability of the solution has some shortcomings."
