Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The event alerting feature or the trigger system is what I like most about AppDynamics Server Monitoring. Whenever an issue occurs, the tool automatically generates an even trigger that tells engineers in the company to take action, so it's an essential feature of AppDynamics Server Monitoring. Another valuable feature of the tool is end-to-end monitoring, which means if you need to debug, you can go transaction by transaction, where the issue lies, and how it's linked. For example, if it's a low-performance issue, you can look into it more through AppDynamics Server Monitoring in terms of which area takes too much time to execute. You can also see the SQL queries and the kind of query going on through the tool.""The auto-discovery of the logs is the most valuable feature. It requires minimal configuration, we just need to set up on once and it automatically detects through the code.""The product has the ability to drill down to the errors whenever we have issues.""I like Business iQ the most, so far. It has great analytics configurations and I can get real-time updates. We have eCommerce releases every week. So the one use case that I use Business iQ is to compare before and after release performance using AppDynamics.""What I like most about AppDynamics Server Monitoring is that it's easy to manipulate and easy to implement. All solutions have the same features, but what sets AppDynamics Server Monitoring apart is that it's really quick to implement. AppDynamics Server Monitoring has a great interface. As a developer, it doesn't matter whether it's SolarWinds, Dynatrace, or any APM you're using, but it would matter to the customer. A product must be easy to manipulate or use, for example, AppDynamics Server Monitoring, for the customer, but for developers like my team, there's no pressure, even if a solution requires coding.""The platform is reliable in identifying the core system issues.""Setting up the monitoring agents was straightforward.""It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I don't see any problems in the solution...The solution's technical support was good."

"The drafts are easy but what I like about Icinga is that there are many add-ons that you can download.""There's a module called Icinga Director, which helps us configure the product using an intuitive interface through clicks instead of creating a text configuration. It's very helpful for us.""The apply rules feature saves a lot of time.""Macros and the ability to connect it to Google Maps are valuable features.""The value of Icinga is that it has hundreds of plugins, so it's really easy to monitor pretty much anything.""This solution has a self-healing handler where if the service is down, it is automatically restarted.""An affordable solution for small organizations to do basic network monitoring.""Icinga has multiple automation and integration features. There is an API for everything and a web UI for configurations. The APIs enable you to automate tasks in Icinga. We can also use plugins to talk to the API. The Icinga Director talks to a database in the background, and you can import settings from the CMDB to all systems in Icinga."

Cons
"Things are being done differently in the industry now, and many of these problems are being solved with cloud databases.""The solution could be more mobile friendly.""I would like the ability to choose from some pre-defined dashboards and reports because as it is now, you have to define them separately for each implementation.""In the next release, I would like to see the configuration of the data and more support for new applications. It should support new languages.""If we consider the implementation of alternative solutions, such as Dynatrace, there is a notable difference in the approach to agent-based service monitoring. For instance, Dynatrace employs a single-agent solution, which can pose security concerns. When installing Dynatrace, granting the agent ld pro payload rights is a requirement. In contrast, our solution ensures a more secure approach by not requiring root and administration access. While we currently utilize an agent-based solution, there may be a shift in the next one or two years, possibly with the adoption of Open Telemetry. It's anticipated that many APM vendors, including Dynatrace, may alter their structure or strategy for implementation. However, as of now, the trend is towards an increasing number of implementations daily.""The configuration is tricky and requires a lot of tools.""The solution has performance issues after we deploy the agent.""An area for improvement in AppDynamics Server Monitoring is integration; in particular, it needs a better way to integrate with custom applications such as Siebel CRM. Right now, it's challenging to integrate AppDynamics Server Monitoring with Siebel CRM because it sometimes gives an error and cannot integrate properly."

"The user interface should be improved.""At this time, the layout of the website is a bit difficult. It should be more user-friendly for changing the background and logos.""One thing that Icinga lacks is the capability to create advanced and customized dashboards within the tool itself.""The installation and configuration are very complex.""We have found some problems with Nagios, and support isn't very responsive.""I think the software is quite good, but we have had problems with getting it to recognize certain areas and amend certain checks, where we needed so we would have to create backend scripts for those checks. Though, being open source, it has the support to create backend scripts, it would be better to have these scripts in-built.""One of the areas that are frustrating is remote monitoring for more than one machine.""Icinga’s automation could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "My understanding is that the price of this solution is quite high, compared to other products."
  • "The pricing for AppDynamics Server Monitoring in Africa and the Middle East is too expensive, so it's very hard to sell it to customers. If there could be different pricing or package for the region, that would be great. My company pays for the license of AppDynamics Server Monitoring on a per-agent, per-server basis. It's $700 to $1000 per server, and it's paid annually. My company is on a subscription model for the solution. On a scale of one to five, where one is expensive and five is cheap, my rating for the price of AppDynamics Server Monitoring is a two."
  • "The solution has a high cost."
  • "AppDynamics Server Monitoring is a very expensive product, but if you negotiate well, you get value for money...My company used to make early payments toward the licensing costs of the solution, but now my company has opted for a different licensing model."
  • "The tool is expensive."
