SiteScope has built-in flat file DB, hence it removes the dependency of an external DB for higher stability.Has a simple setup. It can be up and running within hours.It can monitor over a 100 technologies with built-in solution templates.The Monitor Templates functionality allowed us to spin up monitoring with .csv files pretty easily.Simplest tool for monitoring servers, web content, databases and other hardware. Its dashboard is really good.Simple deployment: The deployment uses protocols such as NetBios, SSH, WMI, SNMP, which means that any device with any of these protocols will be monitored.

I would like to be able to monitor both cloud an on-prem infrastructures, displayed in one dashboard.The QA and test environment need improvement.It needs strengthening in the database tiers.Additional support for NextGen mobile platforms also needs to be high in the roadmap prioritizationsThere needs to be an option to capture all the sessions for all the users, not just samplings.The GUI can be overwhelming at first to a novice Dev or Ops support person, and the possible root causes of an issue do not bubble up to the first screen you see.It would help to maybe have a more graphical interface and more user-friendly graphics.I’d like to see better out-of-the-box visual reporting so that we can roll this up to management.

Direct integration with an SMS gateway for sending critical alerts to the support SME. This will help customer investing in third party middleware solutions for SMS.They have not kept up with browser security requirements or advances in GUIs, they switched to a corruptible database architecture instead of text config files.They should provide more templates for new vendor devices.It could be more reliable using a database repository instead of a log repository.

Pricing and Cost Advice
I would like more flexible pricing: A pay-per-use model, rather than just a fixed-price model.The cost is prohibitive.It would be better if there were more solutions incorporated into the base price. ​The way it is structured in terms of price could be better. You pay for individual modules and that adds on to the cost, which detracts you from implementing those modules and slows you down.Take into consideration what you get for specific pricing models and how much it costs to add on things you may need later.​Because it is priced per JVM, the price can increase pretty fast, into the millions. We have had challenges because we had to justify the price to our clients, as well, when we are putting in certain tools.It could be cheaper. It's a little cost prohibitive. There are so many features that also show a lot of value, but it’s not always easy to justify the cost.It is not a cheap tool, but you also save in manpower to setup because it is easy and fast. At the end of the day, I think the revenue is much better. BUT, they have an awful co-term mode of licensing.

SiteScope licensing can be node based-or monitor-based. I would recommend for node-based licensing.You have to pay for their "solution templates". Other tools do not charge you for knowledge-based monitoring bundles.
