We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable thing that you get from Aternity is very broad visibility. You get visibility of your network, of your endpoints, of your software usage, your application performance, capacity, in one pane of glass. We had 20 to 30 IT tools, including application performance monitoring, network monitoring, security, endpoint detection, network protection, capacity management, service management — every kind of monitoring you can imagine. But Aternity was always the first place that I turned for anything, because you can see everything in it.""Alluvio Aternity is stable.""Being able to proactively identify issues on user systems.""The data collected by the agents on each end point is the most valuable feature for us.""The most valuable feature is the alerting. As soon as we click on an incident, it takes us directly to the problematic PC. It's a direct solution. We click on an alert and it takes us to the incident details. The details show in different colors, in a graphical representation, and I like that the most.""While it also provides desktop metrics, the main thing we use it for is monitoring our applications.""The item we use the most and what upper management wants is the SLA reports. It's a good summary of how the applications are performing over time from month to month.""We could resolve issues that they had been facing for months or years. They had been having the same issues, the same performance problems, whether it was Excel taking a long time to load, or network instability, or voice call problems, and we would fix it in minutes, in front of them in a meeting, with absolute confidence. It would just blow their minds."

"We can collect data about the user experience and see how the user is behaving with the app, or check the behavior of the app itself.""It provides a lot of customer insight, understanding the customer's needs, understanding the customer's issues, and it gives me a more proactive approach to solving a customer problem before it happens.""AppPulse Active allows us to very quickly produce synthetic monitoring for our applications.""The thing that I like about AppPulse is that it's easy application to install and an easy application to use to provide information for our customers.""Customer are able to develop more quickly versions in which users can see the application to correct and monetize it.""With Google Analytics, you choose what performance metrics you want to have reported, but with AppPulse Mobile, you have a global vision of what is really happening inside your app.""The application is easy to use, as it is friendly and graphic.""It identifies transactions and flows of the operations that our customers use with our mobile application."

Cons
"The solution's downloadable reports could be improved.""I think the workflow needs improvement""I would improve the dashboard, the presentation player.""Their technical support should be improved in terms of response time. Its stability should also be better. We are currently using version 10, and its stability is not so high. The server crashes from time to time and needs to be restarted. Sometimes, you also have problems with applications.""Signature development process requires deep technical expertise in the application and in the use of their studio tools that help you create it.""I would say the reporting capabilities of this product could use room for improvement.""I want more reporting around asset management, with greater flexibility and customization ability.""We are waiting for the GA release of their agent. I hope they can do better when they release their endpoint agents. Right now, we are not able to measure some applications, core applications, because it's relying on a specific version of the agent and that agent has not come out yet and there's no ETA. I would like to see them speed up time to market when they release agents."

More Alluvio Aternity Cons →

"Currently, the information for management teams and technical teams are in the same view, but it would be useful if we could separate these views.""It could be better if you had any of the reports that the customers asked from us, for example, punctually. Unfortunately, the reporter is not that practical.""The ability to get CI information from AppPulse into OMi.""It needs compatibility for Windows Mobile, because I think AppPulse doesn't have Windows Mobile.""The regulations should be better customized for the kind of data that we cannot send to the SALs environment.""The one that sticks out in my mind is some flexibility to do recurring downtime.""I think they can improve the feature that identifies the operating systems, the brand of the devices, the response time, geolocalization.""I would love if AppPulse delivered more details about my users, for example, age and sex. It could split up the users into categories based on how frequently they use my product."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Our management squeezed Aternity pretty hard on the pricing, in my opinion a little too much. I advise negotiating for sure, but I do think it left kind of a sour taste in Aternity’s mouth that we were being so pushy despite the fact that we were only purchasing a small number of licenses."
  • "It’s a little on the costly side, but if you license intelligently, accounting for your various hosts connecting in through VDI or terminal servers, you can make it well worth your money."
  • "If the scale of your monitoring will be to go everywhere in an organization, a site license is key."
  • "Pricing is a bit high. Don't take that as the "be all, end all"."
  • "In my opinion they are asking a lot for their SaaS solution, but I also know that that's the direction they're going... The current, on-prem solution is probably a fair price."
  • "The pricing for the users and agents is reasonable compared to other solutions and vendors."
  • "Regarding cost, compared to other solutions, Aternity is pretty low. It's definitely lower-cost than others that we looked at, like Nexthink."
  • "The pricing is fair."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by Aternity users.

PeerSpot user Ryan P., Head of Cyber Security Engineering & Oversight at a media company, says, "The most valuable thing that you get from Aternity is very broad visibility. But Aternity was always the first place that I turned for anything, because you can see everything in it."

An Endpoint Administration Manager at a financial services firm mentions, “It gives you the ability to filter the comparison by geography, industry, or company size.” He also adds, “We have absolutely seen ROI. It's really given us a very high level of visibility that we've just not ever had.”

A Regional Network Manager at a recruiting/HR firm comments, "Aternity provides metrics about actual employee experience of all business-critical apps, rather than just a few. It does some out-of-the-box monitoring for the Office suite, but you can create custom monitoring for any of your applications, whether a web client or a desktop application."

A Sr. IT Manager at a manufacturing company states, "The most valuable feature is the application performance troubleshooting because Aternity is able to provide the performance from the end-user perspective. It doesn't just give the standard application logon time, etc., rather it's also able to measure the performance inside the application, the performance of specific transactions in the application, and break it down into three elements: the client time, the network time, and the server time. This gives us a lot of insights into what we need to focus on to improve the performance of an application."

Micro Focus AppPulse Mobile is the first self-service SaaS solution that tracks the real user experience of your mobile apps constantly monitoring performance, stability and resource usage. The tool provides FunDex – a mobile app quality score that provides a top-level view of problems that negatively impact the user experience with recommendations to explore and fix the root cause of each issue.
