We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Global deduplication is the best feature of this solution.""It is very stable.""I like the tool's speed.""The ease of use is the best feature of the product.""The data protection functionality is the most valuable feature of this solution.""It is easy to configure.""The standard backup and restore feature is most used.""The recovery part of the product is very good."

"The user interface is good.""The initial setup is straightforward. It's not that complicated. Deployment took maybe about 15 minutes.""Its dashboard is quite well done. When you log into the GUI, you can basically see everything you need to know. There is also the possibility to edit the view as you like, which is great.""It has File and SQL backup, which is the main benefit for us.""The solution allows us to block off our network and only give access to whatever we want.""The platform helps us with efficient QoreStor deduplication (DD) capabilities and configuration.""The interface is very user-friendly.""If a job is pending, the solution communicates it to us through emails."

Cons
"The solution can use a lot of bandwidth when the scheduling is not done, it should auto-schedule itself. For example, if there are 50 users connected in the network at 12 o'clock and the backup is not scheduled. At this time the network offices are going to have performance issues when it is doing a backup. Having a feature to auto-schedule a time when the network is not being used often would be beneficial.""The solution can improve by allowing older versions to support the latest version of the OS.""The product is not user-friendly.""One of the biggest drawbacks of Arcserve UDP is that it does not have a single console, making it an area that needs to be considered for improvement.""They could work on their marketing approach. I don't see many people leveraging it.""Based on my experience, whenever we need support, there are difficulties with communication when trying to resolve the issue.""I think that the price could still be a bit cheaper and I do not like that they have been purchased by Arcserve.""The technical support of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required."

More Arcserve UDP Cons →

"In the next version, I would like to see support for the MongoDB database. As it is now, there is no component that works with it and we cannot back the data up using NetVault.""There are command-line limitations. There is not a very strong possibility to work with the command line. The commands that are there are not that powerful, and you need to be very good at scripting, for example, in PowerShell or in Bash in case it is running on Linux systems. You need to combine a lot of commands together, and still, you will not get a great output that is presentable to others. You cannot work with it as easily.""There are certain issues with the product that we report to Quest, and we get offered a workaround instead of a fix. There could be better interaction with the development teams, perhaps in terms of transparency.""The initial setup is a little complex.""The product’s SQL backup plugin needs improvement.""The storage capacity is very low.""The interface can be improved. It should be more clear what features are available and make them easy to find.""I would like to see the option of cloud-based management."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I do not work with the pricing or licensing issues of the solution for our organization."
  • "We only have the maintenance of three standard UDP licenses. Each license is 50 Euro. There are some additional costs for the storage and software but it has nothing to do with the UDP."
  • "Normally our customers purchase the premium plus license, rather than the standard one, which provides more options."
  • "The price of this product is high and it should be lower."
  • "It is approximately $400 to purchase a virtual service outright."
  • "There is an annual license required for this solution and it is priced well."
  • "Pricing is most likely comparable."
  • "The retail fee is $1300 for a year for one server. Other than that, there is just the cost of your hardware."

  • "The price of our 12-month contract is approximately $1,500 AUD ($1,100 USD)."
