Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"It's very stable.""It's a complete software that can protect all the main applications. Perhaps that's the feature I like most. The integration with the NetApp and other apps is also very nice.""We are using a KVM system in our cloud, and this solution works very well with it.""The solution provides us with a single platform to move, manage, and recover our data across on-premise locations. Some of the guys have been using it to move a virtual machine from VMware to the Microsoft solution, Hyper-V. They back it up and then they restore to the different virtual machine provider, and that works great.""The multi-tenancy is the most valuable feature for us because it's the only software that is fully multi-tenant and that has all the features we need to provide to all our tenants. It provides us with advanced features for MySQL and Oracle, among other platforms""The most valuable feature is sharing data sets like they're in a private cloud. We call it our "private cloud" because we can share anything that is inside our backup set with our colleagues or with other people, and yet, everything is still in Belgrade, in Serbia. It's not somewhere else on cloud servers. Everything is in our environment.""I'm a big fan of the reporting. You can build your own reports; it's very customizable. You can have individual reports going to groups of people or individuals. You can have them go out multiple times a day. It's basically a free-for-all as far as reporting goes. If anybody wants a specific job report every day, you can build it, schedule it, and have it go out and never touched it again. It's pretty nice.""The solution's interface is easy to use. For manageability, it doesn't matter where the resource is coming from or going to. That's the great power of the Control Panel: It's easy to use and does not matter if you manage on-prem or cloud resources."

"The most valuable feature is the duplication.""There are many backup options available in this solution. For example, you are able to do backups of servers, email, OST files, and users. This is a complete backup solution which is very good."

More Arcserve UDP Pros »

"It is flexible.""It is affordable.""It is easy-to-use.""Most valuable for DimenXional Cloud is the API provided by Nakivo which allows us to implement the software in all types of solutions.""Nakivo Backup and Replication's web-based management interface enables intuitive, rapid, and seamless configuration and management of all backup and recovery functionality across the enterprise.""Backups are very easy to implement and schedule, the product is very useful, and the recovery procedure is very extensive and feature-rich.""We really appreciate the simplicity of the solution.""It is easy to set up using the included virtual appliance and also includes agents for most NAS systems."

Cons
"The back of virtual machines needs improvement. I know they're working on it. They're always doing new things but I think they still have a little bit more to do.""I think the one thing that could be improved is the customer experience. The interface should be more user friendly.""This solution can be complex and difficult to administer because it supports all of the many platforms, so it would help if they could simplify it.""Just to keep it running is time-consuming. There are five people on my team. Commvault was supposed to be one of the less time-consuming solutions, but in reality it takes 60 percent of our time just to keep it running, and that's not even fine-tuning it; that's just to keep it running.""There is room for improvement in its user interface and web console, called Command Center. They are improving it every year so if they continue in that direction, I think it will be a very reliable console.""They can always improve the interface design to make it easier. Sometimes, you need to click two or three times to do something. They should look at what tabs are used most and make them more accessible, to cut the time it takes to get to that information.""Command Center definitely gives us a complete view of our data. But finding some of the granular, very small items that we sometimes have to find, such as auxiliary copies for tapes, I still find that it's easier to navigate and, sometimes, only possible to find them using the CommCell tool.""The solution's breadth and depth of cloud support are good, but could be better. Some cloud features that are common-sense, especially on AWS, are not completely integrated yet in the product. They are a work-in-progress."

More Commvault Cons »

"Based on my experience, whenever we need support, there are difficulties with communication when trying to resolve the issue.""The solution can use a lot of bandwidth when the scheduling is not done, it should auto-schedule itself. For example, if there are 50 users connected in the network at 12 o'clock and the backup is not scheduled. At this time the network offices are going to have performance issues when it is doing a backup. Having a feature to auto-schedule a time when the network is not being used often would be beneficial."

More Arcserve UDP Cons »

"The interface might be improved, but the interface of every product might be improved.""While the solution provides mostly what we need, it would be ideal if there were some additional feature capabilities for the API.""While the solution provides mostly what we need, it would be ideal if there were some additional feature capabilities for the API.""Using an independent bootable media to restore full physical machines would enable physical machines that may be serving as Nakivo Director or Transport machines to be reliably restored to service without undue delay, ensuring that an enterprise's local environment remains intact.""It would be interesting if it were possible to integrate a mobile app to monitor the system in real-time.""What must be improved is the response time to technical support requests.""We are satisfied with Nakivo, but if anything could be improved, I think it would be more real-time as opposed to email support availability.""In the loading of a backup, choosing what to restore seems to be a lengthy process, but it has always worked in my restore tests."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"The price could perhaps be lower as well.""Our cost is around $20,000 per month. The previous year, it was around $30,000 per month. It now costs less because Commvault changed the licensing type for providers.""Our yearly cost is around €20,000... The cost is based on the number of users and the amount of data. They sell it per terabyte.""There is a bit of cost involved with signing up the entire solution. It's not a cheap solution.""Commvault licensing is a perpetual license so only the support is being renewed yearly.""The complete license gives us options for all the features. Commvault does not license based on storage or the management components. It can integrate with any storage vendor. That means that when we are out of storage and need more, we can integrate without additional licensing. In my opinion, Commvault needs to reduce the licensing cost by 20 to 40 percent to make it cost-efficient.""We went from Veritas NetBackup to Commvault. We switched due to upfront licensing and costs. We have more visibility into what we're actually purchasing. It seemed like, overall, the cost of Commvault was cheaper.""It is cheaper than Veeam."

"The price of this product is high and it should be lower.""There is an annual license required for this solution and it is priced well."

More Arcserve UDP Pricing and Cost Advice »

"You have a lot of different options when it comes to pricing and the pricing models are pretty flexible and affordable.""The product is quite cheap compared to other products on the market, but despite this, it is rich in features both at the level of backup and recovery as well as at the level of additional options.""Nakivo Backup & Replication also have another great value, which is that it is one of the lowest prices on the market.""The licensing currently allows for host-based licensing, which is advantageous if you have a lot of data on a few hosts.""Cost is very appropriate for SMEs.""Nakivo has a good price-performance ratio.""As a free solution for a small environment, this is a great solution!""Talk to the sales department about all of the possibilities, as they will help you to find the best solution for your setup."
