We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature is the search capability, which is simple to use.""ArcSight provides the basic information that we want.""The ability to customize the solution in great detail is its most valuable features. We can customize the use cases and also have the ability to do scripting. We can personalize our dashboard as well. The scalability the solution offers is quite impressive.""The solution provides information about the risk factors.""The most valuable feature is the level of detail that you can see about certain events, even when they do not come up in the console.""The technical support team is good...It is a scalable solution.""We check a lot of logs in ArcSight Logger because we're running a massive database platform.""ArcSight's robustness is its most valuable feature."

"The Splunk search is powerful compared to similar solutions. We get millions of data points within seconds.""Splunk Cloud Platform's most valuable features are enterprise security and ticketing integration.""It has end-to-end visibility into our cloud-native environment, which is pretty important for us. About 80% of our infrastructure is on AWS.""Dashboards and alerting are the most valuable features. The dashboards let us see how the system looks in terms of anomalies, and the alerts trigger us to go and look at what possible problems are happening.""I like the fact that we do not have to maintain all the cloud infrastructure. That is probably the main thing about the Splunk Cloud Platform.""We haven't had any limitations or problems connecting to our network devices.""Its monitoring is completely automated.""Splunk has sped up our response and reduced the time we spend manually monitoring any logs for ticketing tools or servers. It saves us around two hours daily."

Cons
"The next release should have AI capabilities.""We have had problems with archiving.""I think the ArcSight team should try to simplify legacy products for the customers, because that product is not easy to use or to work with. It needs more more competency or appeal to use. We hope Micro Focus is trying to resolve this.""The product's connectors should work better and the user manuals need an update.""The speed of Logger indexing and searching for certain bugs for some queries that we provide could be improved. It can handle a huge number of logs but it can be improved.""You have limited reporting capabilities and I wouldn't choose ArcSight Logger for this purpose.""The solution could be improved in maintenance settings.""The platform is quite expensive. They should reduce its cost."

More ArcSight Logger Cons →

"Its stability and performance can be better. Very rarely does a day go by when we do not see an error in the console, such as a health check error. Because it is cloud-hosted, we do not have access to the backend to figure it out ourselves. We are reliant on their support to figure it out, and a couple of days later, the error comes back or it is a different error. It is a never-ending cycle of support tickets. Their support is also not great.""Splunk should offer various options for real-time monitoring.""The pricing model makes the product costly.""It needs to mature; it's just getting established in the industry on a wider scale.""There can be more modules and more integration with other areas in the cloud and on-prem. I am not sure whether it includes network devices and things like that.""They need to provide more training options.""Although there is documentation available, it is really hard for me to find relevant topics on what it is that I'm searching for.""The on-premises version of Splunk includes all the integrations, while the Cloud platform lacks certain integrations and is limited in terms of the number of supported apps."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "ArcSight Logger is very expensive compared to their competitors, but when we talk to the customer and explain what the features are and how we can scale, they understand. Still, ArcSight is more expensive than the competition."
  • "The pricing is quite harsh."
  • "It's not cheap at all as it's a big product and has been in the market for quite some time now."
  • "ArcSight is an expensive solution."
  • "I would rate the product a seven out of ten since it's an enterprise product."
  • "I rate the product’s pricing a seven out of ten, where one is inexpensive, and ten is expensive."
  • "Pricing is reasonable compared to similar tools on the market. They offer perpetual licenses."
  • More ArcSight Logger Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The licensing is based on the amount of data that we send to the cloud on a daily basis."
  • "The price is something that people complain about."
  • "The licensing costs depend on the state of your environment and the fees are paid on a monthly basis."
  • "The pricing model makes this an expensive solution."
  • "There are additional features that you would need to purchase depending on your use case."
  • "The cost of using Splunk Cloud Platform is high, but the value it provides is worth the investment."
  • "I am familiar with the pricing and licensing model a little bit. I am not sure about the particulars of the actual price that we have, but I do like the idea of going towards a more CPU-based approach rather than the ingest approach because it allows us the ability to ingest more data if we need it."
  • "It is a touchy subject because we are locked into it. That goes back to the rehydrating data. We cannot have the retention that we want to store for legal and compliance purposes because that is seven years' worth of data for some of the indexes, so we ship them off into S3 buckets and install them there, at which point they are invisible to Splunk, so we have to rehydrate them, but we cannot rehydrate those pockets into Splunk Cloud. We have to rehydrate them into a self-hosted version of Splunk, which can take days to set up and get going. I would not call Splunk's licensing and pricing predatory, but they have made it very difficult to maintain the independence of your own data."
