Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"It allows me to present or to demonstrate the business process flow, visually, without having to resort to PowerPoint, Visio, or other products.""The interface and the number of connectors that they provide are the most valuable features. The support here, it's kind of okay. But the main thing is with the number of connectors and the UI, the user interface.""Being able to use a Java-based solution makes the product flexible.""The flexibility is great.""It is open-source. It supports microservice orchestration. This is what we are really interested in. We can customize our products depending on the use cases.""We can share, discuss, and develop the model together — from a distance. It's really helped us during these times of isolation.""It has an open BPM""Camunda Platform is better than IBM BPM, and Azure. It is more elaborate."

More Camunda Platform Pros »

"It has proved that it also works in complex circumstances.""It's very easy to collaborate with. It's very user-friendly"

More ARIS Cloud Pros »

"It's very user-friendly. It's not like Power BI, Tableau is very user-friendly. Anybody can use Tableau. It's very easy to adopt things. I can visualize the stats.""The number one thing was just the ease of getting something up quickly. The other thing that was good about it was that it was fairly fast for decent-sized data sets in terms of performance and run time.""The action feature which Tableau has is very useful for us. If we click on one visualization, it will pass the value to another visualization. That interactivity within different visualizations is the most valuable feature of Tableau.""I like Tableau's heat maps and the storyboard. You can create data stories and tons of visuals with it, and it goes together really well. Tableau lets you manipulate the data in various ways.""Good data flow and management.""I believe one of the most valuable features of the solution is trend analysis.""Tableau is easy to use. That's the first and most important thing. I not only provide consulting but I also train people to use it, so with its ease-of-use it's not as difficult for me to train executives and management staff, because they don't have the IT background, unlike when I'm using Python.""The ease of presenting findings is very helpful."

Cons
"The migration strategy needs to be improved.""The only drawback is the time that it takes to have a complete set of workflows implemented on the Camunda platform.""The initial set up could be simplified, it's complex.""Would be helpful if there were additional out-of-the-box activities.""The user interface needs some polishing because it is too technical for end-users to use it.""Process interfaces between diagrams could be improved.""We have faced problems with the performance.""Lacking in forms visualization."

More Camunda Platform Cons »

"The price is quite high. This is one weak point of the solution.""Initial setup is rather complex. You have to find a way to isolate the complexity, and find common ground."

More ARIS Cloud Cons »

"The pricing is a bit expensive.""Whenever it comes to specialized visualization, Tableau is an absolute failure.""I would like the solution to have certain features allowing the delivery of reports to the email.""Implementation requires a technical background.""Many things have to be improved in Tableau. Right now, we make the calculation, and then we get that information. It would be better if business users could do that. I would ask the people at Tableau to provide that option to business users to get that information in one click. It would be better if they automated some calculations. There should be more automation in Tableau. However, there are many things in automation mode, but it is very limited at the moment. We need automation for people who do not know much about Tableau. It would also be better if there were good community support like in Alteryx.""If you wanted to create something without making it an extra column in the data set, you can't just rename it to a more user-friendly short name.""The data preparation could integrate better with Tableau.""From a downside perspective, some of the more advanced modeling techniques are actually fairly difficult to do. In addition, I just fundamentally disagree with the way you have to implement them because you can get incorrect answers in some cases."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"There is an open-source version available, that in its core features (workflow and decision engine, modeler) is exactly the same as in the enterprise version.""I think Camunda BPM can improve their licensing costs. It isn't easy to find clients with Camunda BPM licenses mainly because it's quite expensive.""The open-source version of the product is free to use.""Generally, the price could be better, as well as the licensing fees.""Licensing costs are anywhere from $80,000 to $100,000 USD per year.""I use the open-source free version.""We're using the open-source version for now.""We pay for the license of this solution annually."

Information Not Available
"For the use and the capability of the software, it's $70 per month, and that is quite inexpensive.""Its price is higher than Power BI and QlikView. Tableau costs around $70 per user per month, whereas Power BI is around $8 to $9. QlikView is around $30. Tableau has various prices for various models such as Creator, Designer.""It is fairly expensive. I have no idea what they paid. We were on an enterprise license, so whatever it is they licensed at the enterprise level is what we paid.""In general, if someone is new and wants to learn Tableau, it's around $70 per month.""The solution is expensive but it depends on the customer's needs which will determine the cost of the licensing.""Tableau's licensing is pretty straightforward and simple.""The price of this solution could definitely be lower. It's quite expensive.""This solution is a bit expensive. The pricing options have become more difficult over the years. I think they are bordering on pricing themselves out of the market. They need different pricing options for various-sized businesses. Where my organization is a large organization, we are happy to pay a higher price because we can leverage the products very extensively. For smaller enterprises, different pricing options would be good."

Comparison Review
Guillermo (Bill) Cabiro
I do use both Tableau and QlikView. Although very different, I really like both solutions. They belong to the new BI generation known as Interactive Visual Analytics. In my opinion, QlikView has a more intuitive interface for regular users or executives that are not technical experts but the development side is a little more complex. Up to version 12 QlikView did not provide drag & drop features. If a user wanted to see something not included in the application the new object had to be created by a power user or developer because Qlikview's scripting has somewhat of a learning curve. On the positive side, QlikView's scripting is a great asset as it functions as an ETL allowing the integration of hundreds of different data sources into the same visual app. Another feature that’s extremely useful is Qlik’s proprietary Associative Model that allows the users to visualize data relationships that exist as well as those that do not. Tableau on the other hand is a lot easier to use for developers, analysts or power users who need to connect, manipulate and visualize data rather quickly. While this makes Tableau a better fit for the more analytical crowd, it may not be as appealing or intuitive to the regular or casual business users as QlikView is. Tableau has full pivot, drag & drop and drill down capabilities that are great for developers or power users. They can rotate measures and dimensions and graph them instantly using visualization best practices as suggested by… Read more »
