We performed a comparison between Arista Networks Platform and NETGEAR Switches based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Ethernet Switches solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The solution has good load latency. They're the market leader in this aspect right now."
"The configuration capabilities were good."
"They support open standard features."
"Arista Networks Platform offers straightforward deployment, and has good features. Support for the platform is also good."
"What we like most is its performance to price ratio."
"The user-friendly policy manager lets us apply different controls for various user groups easily."
"It is very stable. It has good hardware and very stable code. It provides good value for its price. They are a very lean type of organization, so they are very responsive, and they're able to focus more on their platform versus having multiple products out there."
"The solution is very stable."
"The remote troubleshooting is pretty easy. You can turn off a port that might have a network loop created, or where there might be a bad NIC card that is creating issues. Being able to turn off that port remotely is fantastic, instead of having to replace the whole switch. Remote management is really easy."
"With this, you literally just log in to a website, see all your clients, all your NETGEAR switches, and you can manage them all right there: the VLANs, powering on and off individual ports, rebooting the whole device, the firmware updates. Everything can be done remotely..."
"Comes preconfigured and designed specifically for AV."
"Technical support is helpful and quick to respond."
"Valuable features include network monitoring and ease of programming for VLANs, etc. I especially like NETGEAR because it's easy to teach system administrators how to use them, how to look at them, how to make changes to them without having the complexity of CLIs, but still having a CLI should we need it."
"The ability to mix and match is invaluable. So, we didn't have to run massive super extensive switches in the data closets where it wasn't necessary. Being able to manage it all from one place, as all your network configuration settings went live across your entire building from one management console was really handy."
"The solution is simple to use. I am also impressed with the tool's GUI and CLI."
"It's nice, if there is an issue, to be able to go in through the remote. The fact that the remote doesn't require a static IP... is nice. They initiate the contact to the outside world, without requiring a static to get in."
"The solution’s pricing could be better."
"My company does face issues in terms of interoperability when it comes to the product, making it an area that needs to be fixed."
"The community is good but is not good enough. It still needs to grow more."
"Something that you will often hear about Arista products is that the price is a bit too high and, like with Cisco, we sometimes have problems with our customers because of its pricing."
"The intent-based networking management, together with the provider of these solutions that are already free, would be beneficial."
"The solution is quite expensive. One of the negative aspects of it is the pricing."
"They should have a more stable code."
"I want the solution to include a unified controller."
"There are a lot of systems that are moving into different areas. There are a lot of cloud-based things happening. One nice feature that I've seen in other switches is artificial intelligence on the actual porting. They've got AI technology that will tell you when a port is down. They not only tell you when a port is down; they also tell you when a port is running slower. You can do a cable-fault check, or you can do other checks. It would be nice to have this information in NETGEAR. This feature might already be there in a new release of the NETGEAR's firmware, but I haven't seen it."
"This product lacks a CLI interface."
"NETGEAR Switches could be more secure. Scalability could also be better. This infrastructure is a bit old, and we need something that will be more secure. Something that will introduce WLAN, and we will need the knowledge to go with that. Some of the switches were used for more than seven years. I think it was just their lifespan that was exhausted. But other than that, there haven't been any issues that required us to complain or get concerned."
"One thing I would like to see improved is the response time for technical support."
"There is a lack of documentation, and the documentation I have is unclear, so I have to rely on Google for information."
"Being able to pass AVB traffic over these switches, that would be a huge add. There are not many switches out that support that. The GS728TP NETGEAR switches used to or still do support AVB, but it would be ideal if the 4300 Series could support it as well."
"The product's scalability has certain shortcomings that can be improved."
"The solution needs centralized management and centralized configuration."
