Q&A Highlights
Question: Are Laserfiche and OnBase considered eBPMs? How do they compare to AuraPortal?
Answer: I am not familiar with LaserFiche or AuraPortal, but we employ OnBase here and I am familiar with IBM's ECM platform. Without splitting too many hairs, tools like these provide a "content-enabled" workflow and are often referred to as Enterprise Content Management (ECM) systems. That is, they don't do anything until a piece of content presents itself for processing. They are very good at automating/mechanizing a wide variety of business processes that have a form (paper or electronic) associated with them. Business Process Management packages are designed to be able to create workflows that do not depend on a piece of content to function properly. So, it depends on what problem you are trying to solve. If the business process that you are trying to automate has content (forms, faxes, etc) then ECM packages like OnBase, LaserFiche, etc. might fit your need. If you need to automate processes that do not require content, then a more traditional BPM system might be required.

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"AuraPortal has the best price for its process.""It's a low-code application.""AuraQuantic's most valuable features are the zero code, user-friendly mode, and integration.""AuraPortal is very user-friendly and flexible."

"The retention module is one of the most valuable features. Whatever we scan onto the system can be identified and we are notified when the records are due to be disposed.""I like the cloud and its integrability.""We found the setup process to be okay since they do offer a troubleshooting guide.""The solution is very developed and we are not taking full advantage of its functionalities.""The most valuable features are that it's very secure and provides audit trails for our documents.""OnBase is a remarkable tool. It is a well-done product. Hyland has a lot of experience in building it and looking for new things for clients in terms of functionalities. It has amazing stability, and it can grow horizontally and vertically. It is built for growth. Their technical support is also quite good and available throughout the year."

Cons
"More documentation and the ability to extract different reports about different relations in the objects I use will help.""AuraQuantic's price could be improved.""We'd like it more animated. It would be useful if we could integrate GIFs, for example.""One thing that could be improved would be for it to be deployed in a shorter time."

More AuraQuantic Cons →

"The dashboards do have some room for improvement as compared to the other vendors which are there in the market.""We are struggling with duplicates and would like to have OCR functionality when using this solution.""The look and feel could be better. The integration with the user could be better. It could also be more user-friendly.""We need to troubleshoot why our reports didn't get downloaded in a day. There is a workflow feature which powerful but also complicated.""For user experience, they would have to do more with the interface. It is not easy to work with and is a little messy. It is getting better, but it is not yet good enough. Other products are comparatively doing better in terms of the user interface. I have been hearing about Box, which is very easy to use and learn for the users. OnBase has to work on this aspect. It should have BPM capabilities. We compete with tools that provide the BPM feature and support those standards. They can do better in terms of the pricing model. It is a really expensive tool in Latin America. They should have different prices for different regions.""An area for improvement would be the training - getting our people up to speed on how to use it required more training than we expected due to the complexity of the solution."

Laserfiche and OnBase can both be classified as such. They both run very robust Business Process Management applications. I personally know that the Laserfiche application has grown enormously over the past few years and is classified by the Gartner Group as one of the leaders in the industry. If you would like more specifics I would gladly discuss with you but would require a few more details.
