We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The technical support is good. We have not had any issues.""Within less time than it used to take, we can automate a complete Apex task.""Automation Anywhere has improved our company a lot. The SLA of some tasks that we need to deliver to some clients has improved greatly.""Automation Anywhere's error handling is its most valuable feature. It sends you an email when there's an error and helps you find the cause quickly. It walks you through exactly how you should handle it.""We have saved 60 to 70 percent on operations.""It improved the task performance at a team level and improved productivity.""All customers were happy after automating using AA because of the better accuracy, it's easy to develop and manage. It's easy to manage the orchestrator.""This solution is easy to use and easy to learn compared to Blue Prism, UiPath, and others."

"What I like most about Galen Framework are its advantages, particularly its spec language and the spec file feature."

Cons
"They do not include the basic functionality of column headers in Excel worksheets. This is missing, and we need it.""Automation Anywhere's network has room for improvement.""Their Community Edition is awful. Every second day, it will fail. It will become corrupt.""Scaling from small to medium automation works well, but if building out very big applications, sometimes the code can be too lengthy and uncontrollable.""SMTP mail features should come with migration options. All kind of VB scripts and Java scripts which we built using exiting version should support in this version.""The AI Sense functionality is what I believe can be improved since when I tried to use it for automating a use case involving a Citrix Virtual Machine, it was unable to capture objects consistently.""They need to make the AA stable across all browsers and I hope to see it fixed in the next version.""We have in-house, a few variables, which we use from technical perspectives. We don't have them in Automation Anywhere, but they introduced them yesterday."

"There don't seem to be functions available for automatically generating Galen values based on the specifications in the spec file, and this could be a potential improvement for Galen Framework."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Pricing is too high for small-scale groups. The Control Room yearly fee is high, making it difficult to break even."
  • "Automation Anywhere is competitive... Pega is somewhat comparable, but Pega also requires a lot more infrastructure and a lot more experience to get up and running."
  • "Automation Anywhere is costlier than the general competition. That is aligned with the share of the market it has."
  • "They're very flexible around pricing and licensing."
  • "They give us a good deal on the licensing because we bundle and customize things. If you ask to get a bulk business deal, you will receive more benefit. If you take other products from the suite, like IQ Bot, you can also receive a deal on the licensing."
  • "We just did a round of price comparison on a global scale and found it's so hard to compare the license prices. But, Automation Anywhere, in general, is on the same price level as the other vendors, a bit lower in some cases."
  • "If you look at the capital expenditure, Automation Anywhere is number two to UiPath. But if you take a long-term view, on a scalable model of a large number of bots coming out, it slowly goes on to become the costliest tool. There is something they can do about that. The capital expenditure goes out right at the point of buying the tool. For Automation Anywhere, I would need to spend $20,000. UiPath can give me something for $6,000, while Blue Prism will come in at $300,000."
  • "It's cheaper than other similar solutions."

Layout testing seemed always a complex task. Galen Framework offers a simple solution: test location of objects relatively to each other on page. Using a special syntax and comprehensive rules you can describe any layout you can imagine.

Galen Framework runs well in Selenium Grid. You can set up your tests to run in a cloud like Sauce Labs or BrowserStack so that you can even test your responsive websites on different mobile devices. Galen can run multiple tests in parallel which is also a nice time saver.

Galen Framework is designed with responsivness in mind. It is easy to set up a test for different browser sizes. Galen just opens a browser, resizes it to a defined size and then tests the page according to specifications.
