We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We have used support a few times for one of our customers, and they respond quickly. If the issue involves a critical production system, they respond to the request on the same day.""A user can easily adopt this technology and utilize it, when compared to the other available resources in the market.""The initial setup was straightforward. It is a very guided experience: out-of-the-box with Automation Anywhere University training.""It has helped us to save a lot of FTEs for our solutions that we have provided to our companies. Suppose a job which was done by a group of eight to nine people on a daily basis for 24 hours was taking a lot of time, so we created a bot with Automation Anywhere. It was done with a bot working 24/7. It reduced the numbers of guys required to do that process.""It has saved our HR department time since this process automatically happens without anybody's intervention. Our HR department is able to devote their time to more productive work or activities. It has also saved a lot of costs since every employee in the HR department is involved in the attendance and payroll process. Second, the process is now no more human dependent.""It is one of the popular RPA vendors offering powerful & user-friendly RPA capabilities to automate any complex tasks. It is one of the "Revolutionary Technology" that changes the way the enterprise operates. This tool combines conventional RPA with intellectual elements like natural language understanding and reading any unstructured data.""We have automated that complete process of code review. The bot is solving the problem of ensuring the compliance of reviewing code. People use to generally skip the code review process, because it was exhaustive. Bots can review the complete standards of the code, whatever is there, ensuring the compliance and eventually saving time.""The graphical user interface (GUI) is very useful, since I don't know any coding languages. I have been able to be a developer with Automation Anywhere without knowing the technical background. I am a business user, and not needing the technical knowledge to use the system has been useful for me."

More Automation Anywhere (AA) Pros →

"The ability to develop scripts in Visual Studio, Visual Studio integration, is the most valuable feature.""The scalability of the solution is quite good. You can easily expand the product if you need to.""The statistics that are available are very good.""The feature I like most is the ease of reporting.""The major thing it has helped with is to reduce the workload on testing activities.""A good automation tool that supports SAP functional testing.""Scripting is the most valuable. We are able to record and then go in and modify the script that it creates. It has a lot of generative scripts."

Cons
"Room for improvement is more on the IQ Bot side: How quickly we can adopt and deploy it?""There can be some options to connect to the database directly where we should be able to add some data.""They need to improve the real-time data and analytics.""I would like for AA to add an inbuilt debug log that has functionalities to view the values of variables during run time in order to have a point-to-point debugging in case of an error.""Excel, Outlook, and Word automation are very difficult with V11.""SMTP mail features should come with migration options. All kind of VB scripts and Java scripts which we built using exiting version should support in this version.""While the ease of use for non-tech users is good, it could be improved.""The object cloning that exists cannot capture 80 percent of the objects that we need it to capture."

More Automation Anywhere (AA) Cons →

"Everything is very manual. It's up to us to find out exactly what the issues are.""They should extend some of the functions that are a bit clunky and improve the integration.""The solution has a lack of compatibility with newer technologies.""Could be more user-friendly on the installation and configuration side.""We moved to Ranorex because the solution did not easily scale, and we could not find good and short term third-party help. We needed to have a bigger pool of third-party contractors that we could draw on for specific implementations. Silk didn't have that, and we found what we needed for Ranorex here in the Houston area. It would be good if there is more community support. I don't know if Silk runs a user conference once a year and how they set up partners. We need to be able to talk to somebody more than just on the phone. It really comes right down to that. The generated automated script was highly dependent upon screen position and other keys that were not as robust as we wanted. We found the automated script generated by Ranorex and the other key information about a specific data point to be more robust. It handled the transition better when we moved from computer to computer and from one size of the application to the other size. When we restarted Silk, we typically had to recalibrate screen elements within the script. Ranorex also has some of these same issues, but when we restart, it typically is faster, which is important.""The support for automation with iOS applications can be better.""The pricing is an issue, the program is very expensive. That is something that can improve."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Pricing is too high for small-scale groups. The Control Room yearly fee is high, making it difficult to break even."
  • "Automation Anywhere is competitive... Pega is somewhat comparable, but Pega also requires a lot more infrastructure and a lot more experience to get up and running."
  • "Automation Anywhere is costlier than the general competition. That is aligned with the share of the market it has."
  • "They're very flexible around pricing and licensing."
  • "They give us a good deal on the licensing because we bundle and customize things. If you ask to get a bulk business deal, you will receive more benefit. If you take other products from the suite, like IQ Bot, you can also receive a deal on the licensing."
  • "We just did a round of price comparison on a global scale and found it's so hard to compare the license prices. But, Automation Anywhere, in general, is on the same price level as the other vendors, a bit lower in some cases."
  • "If you look at the capital expenditure, Automation Anywhere is number two to UiPath. But if you take a long-term view, on a scalable model of a large number of bots coming out, it slowly goes on to become the costliest tool. There is something they can do about that. The capital expenditure goes out right at the point of buying the tool. For Automation Anywhere, I would need to spend $20,000. UiPath can give me something for $6,000, while Blue Prism will come in at $300,000."
  • "It's cheaper than other similar solutions."

  • "Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis, and while I think that the price is quite reasonable I am not allowed to share those details."
  • "We paid annually. There is a purchase cost, and then there is an ongoing maintenance fee."
